*I remember discovering the Solo Leveling webcomic at the very start of Covid lockdown and absolutely loving it. OGs remember making and signing petitions to make this series into an anime*
Bro I was looking at that petition every month or so for years. I had it posted on my anime planet page.
The only thing left out is how every time the cup of reincarnation is used, all of the monarchs are aware of the previous timelines. So their memories remain intact whenever time is rewound. For example: if one of them is killed, then they will remember everything leading up to their death when the clock turns back. That is what allows them to strategize so well.
True but their strategem boils down to using brute force, confront them head-on and not using poison and underhanded methods. Everything I will say is spoiler so please ignore if you haven't read it.
I say this because A) Iron Body Monarch got furious when he relaized Jin-Woo placed all his soldiers inside Thomas' shadow. The second is just like the first scenario, that a Monarch should face his enemy head-on and when the Monarchs ambushed (spoiler) Go Gun Hee and Frost Monarch inspected the knife, which was Kasaka's Fang, has special effect which is poison.
Why why just why I hate I read so fast. You you my friend

Honestly, I think the power system is amazing. It is shown briefly though. The way Sung Jin Woo wore upgraded armor but it vanishes is very cool to me. Like an RPG power system.
That system only applies to Jinwoo, the manhwa explains that itself.
@@cnssegura I know, and it's the only one that actually matters
For anime only viewers tbh I rather content creators not spoil everything. A HUGE part of the appeal of this series for me was the reveals and the pacing at which we learn things alongside the characters...
It's one of those stories if you go in knowing everything, it's really robbing it of its strengths.
Its also interesting to think about how they briefly mentioned that almost every single hunter, enjoys being a hunter, aside from the occasional healer who doesnt like fighting. Kind of a "You are as strong as you desire" kinda vibe. Even the S rank fire mage talked about how he would burn ants with a lighter as a kid, so even the power-sets of hunters might be tied to desires

I don't care what the solo leveling haters say . I love the solo leveling story , it's simple and epic . Not to mention, the anime is following the Light Novel, not the Manhwa , so the story will be more flushed out and better than the Manhwa

You missed the fact that the absolute being was the reason for Ashborne's revival, he did die fighting the rulers. Ashborne upon realizing that the absolute being brought him back and has a plan he and no ruler understands, went to the throne of the absolute being to stop the rulers, finding that he was too late. Because of the betrayal he felt from his brethren, he joins the monarch and as someone who were rivals with the monarch of destruction, he took ashborne in, only to betray him since he is too powerful to be on anyone's side. After getting betrayed twice once from the rulers and now one of the monarchs', namely the white flame demon king, he stands on the battlefield asking for his ruler brethren to strike him down and finish the job, only for them to kneel and cry in front of him, asking for forgiveness and his help in stopping the war. He left both sides to think and decide for himself.
These details are from the LN and was explained by Ashborne himself when he gave everything to Sung and Belial, the strongest and most loyal subordinate/follower from even before the rulers betrayed ashborne and the absolute being.
The LN was SO good. These details helped me appreciate the world building so much more.
Bro light novel and manhwua were so good am glad that till now they are making these 2 justice in the anime❤❤❤❤
Amen. I am trying to avoid these videos, but YT algo just want to shove it in me.

Nah, it was heavily implied the Monarchs and Rulers were cretaed to constantly fight for the Supreme Bieng/Absolute Being amusement. He gave Ashborn power over death because he was his most loyal lapdog.
Definitely wouldn't recommend this video if you haven't read the Manhwa! It's a great refresher though for those of us who have read it

They killed Ashborne, he fell to the bottom of death and there a seed planted by the creator activated. He became the ruler of death, because the creator set that up. That's how it was in the LN. All the powers he got were made by the creator.
Spoilers Ahead!
Redering to the confusion at 6:30
The absolute being doesn't have infinite power. Ashborn said there isn't infinite power in their series, and related the absolute being's creations to machines that humanity has created. The absolute being is still stronger, but the monarchs and rulers are just relative to them just as machines are relative to us. Machines can hurt us just as the Rulers/Monarchs can hurt the absolute being.
I hope that brought some insight for you all!

Whats cool is that igris, a member of the shadow army was able to make the frost monarch tremble in fear. Theres literally beru and bellion on Sung Jinwoo's side by chugong put a lot of emphasis on Igris
I think it was explained that the reason 'God' was able to be killed, was because he put too much of his power into the Rulers and Monarchs, so he was no longer truly Omnipotent.
Also, i thought the reason for the 'System' was to find a vessel suitable for Ashborn to inhabit, and then proceed to slowly strengthen the vessel until it was finally strong enough to handle being possessed by Ashborne, as he and the Dragon Monarch were just too powerful for pretty much any human to handle being the vessel of. The other Rulers and Monarchs are less powerful and so, are less restricted in available hosts. Though, this does beg the question, if the Dragon Monarch was too powerful to have a human host, how he does at the end, unless he finally found a suitable host, or at least a host who was "good enough" to last as long as he needed.
I actually did wonder about the dragon monarchs host. I am a manwha only for rn so i dont know all the details, but were the rulers who used hosts ever dived into in the ln?
@@inevail8575I only read the Manhwa, so no idea if the LN dived into them. It hints or says in a roundabout way, who most of the Ruler Hosts "Might" be, but i think you only get confirmation on... like 3 or 4 of them
@@inevail8575he never got a host, he just came onto the planet without a vessel. The monarchs and rulers can come to earth in their true form it's just not practical because you have to create a gate strong enough to allow your true form through which takes long and a lot of energy, whereas if you manifest through a vessel you can just be on Earth immediately and move back and forth between the limbo dimension and earth effortlessly. Same applies to the rulers it's easier for them to manifest by giving their powers to humans (only one confirmed was the Korean chairman but it's heavily implied that all the national rank hunters and Jin Woos father are ruler vessels) but as seen in the battle with Antares they can show up in their true form it just takes forever for them to arrive to Earth which is why Jin Woo had to distract Antares for so long on that island so that the rulers could arrive before the dragon army killed every human.
He never got a host. Thats why he arrived the latest. He basically just waited till the s-rank gates were open and earth and soaked up enough mana to not get totally destroyed by one of his attacks
I remember it being described as 'humans can make/invent a spear or gun that can kill themselves or other humans more effectively than they can'. Or in a more philosophical way, 'God' created a weapon that even he was not strong enough to avoid dying too.
So hyped for the rest of this to get animated
true the jeju island arc will be fire so will final battle
I wonder if they will animate the after story
If the beginning where not much happening gets adapted this well, we are in for a feast.

Having seen the first two episodes and have been craving more knowledge without spoiler too much for myself, this video is really good. Starters to the series already kind of know that the MC is going to be granted power from one of the most powerful god like characters, but we get to go in with a bit of lore which is nice.
You should read the manhwa it’s amazing
I was kind disappointed that the two sides weren't flushed out a bit more, it felt like they had so much potential.
Probably might turn into a spin-off about the rulers and monarchs if the anime continues to be a major hit
I am very much looking forward to the spew of solo leveling videos coming my way, even if the first couple will be introducing the series lol, thanks nick keep it up.
slight correction at the end, the "system" is not exist to power up the Ashborn vessel but instead limiting the vessel power, imagine naruto have kyuubi inside him and the seal help him to not get absorbed by kyuubi, each level Ashborn vessel unlock equal to weakening the limiter and unlocking more of Ashborn power for if the vessel is not ready both mentally and physically to receive full ashborn power they would simply die.
so the system allows the vessel to obtain ashborn power slowly as they get stronger rather than all at once as they would die cuz they weak? Sorry im really dumb 😅
@@Quixxzz exactly, specially ashborn himself choose Jin woo which is a really weak hunter to be his vessel or his predecessor in this case.
@@blobs819901 cool, also did he pick him cuz he was familiar with death, due to him always being close to death countless of times as he was the weakest hunter ever?
@@Quixxzz exactly, ashborn almost gave up on finding a suitable vessel until Jin woo picked his interest for defying death multiple times
Just watched the first episode, without knowing much about the anime/manhwa, this looks amazing!
I've read the entire Solo Leveling series. Just to make sure I'm not being stupid, wasnt Ashborn's Monarch abilities granted to him on top of his Ruler abilities after he nearly died protecting the Absolute being by said being? Before nearly dying he only had his Ruler abilities.
Update: Never mind. He answered it.
Yeah it was gifted by absolute being seeing his loyalty
Yeah I thought so too he made it sound like him just switching sides gave him the death abilities at first.
Is more like the power of Death was hidden in him by the Absolute Being from the start, and the power surfaced once he nearly died. You should read Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, it's being released on Tapas and the plot is pretty damn interesting. The sequel might surpass the original if things go well.
He had it since he was created he just only unlocked it when he died. He was picked because he was the most loyal though

Shadow Monarch, after being killed by his bretheren rulers, was revived by the special power given by the creator. The shadow power was inside him from the start, which can suggest that the Supreme being anticipated all of this from the start and may have been part of his plan. He changed sides to defeat the rulers but it wasn't the reason he survived.
So why couldn't the supreme being revival himself then? These are the kind of things that made me enjoy the series less
I thought I could get past “Jin woo sung” w/out it bothering my ears too much but he just keeps saying it😭😭

Keep up the awesome work and videos Nick love the video
Solo leveling is simple yet, it is so beautiful and can be read many times without getting bored. It is a colorful and bright world.
Only the rulers rebelled against their creator, with only Ashborn remaining loyal to him till his death.
Edit: the artifacts life the cup of reincarnation was made from the creator’s powers after he died. Which is why they had limited uses and why the rulers were the ones who had them
I just got to the part where he opened the double door. I’m excited and am thoroughly enjoying this story development. I wish they would talk more about his dad and how he plays a part in the story
One thing should be known is that monarchs did not destroy humanity for the sake of it but to use earth as a field for warfare against the rulers and use strong humans as their minions. But neither rulers not monarchs had the power to descend directly into the earth but rather had the ability to take over human bodies to fight against the monarchs. The hunters on earth are basically humans with humans with the blessings of rulers and the strongest of them had rulers within their bodies. They used gates to make sure humans are prepared to survive in the world as their main goal was not to help all humans but just to make sure that earth survives. While rulers gave power to humans , the monarchs controled human bodies and completely took over them to get back to full power but the rulers couldnt since they are not forcing the humans but giving them a choice and allowing them to use the powers as needed. Being that the case the rulers were significantly weaker than the monarchs and always lost the war and had to use the cup of reincarnation to start again. But even the tools of the almighty has a limit and thus they were helpless. Sung jin woo is basically the one hidden piece that topled the power balance and thus is very significant. Thank you.
The first fights happened in a different plane than earth. Earth didn't show up until after their defeat. They used it to hide and rebuild their powers. Atleast thats what is heavly implied in the manga and light novels.
I’m so happy you’re finally covering this.
Shadow monarch flip and sides like me flipping sides in the bed trying to get comfortable
Then you destroy the bed and make a new one.
I'm reading the printed manhwa so I'm at the Tome 7 chapter 21, which is the equivalent about 111 in the webtoon, and the "Monark" was mentioned in this tome. I didn't take the weight of her words when she said: "He is a Monark", but this explains a LOT of the plot in the behind the scenes.
Thanks for the video, contains minimal spoilers for a big exposure!
Really ? I read it all and Idk, I'm at min 5 and it seems like watching this before finishing it ruins the fun, sure you understand but you don't have any surprise left if you know about everything before they're introduced...
It is perfect, as he really doesn't spoil anything. I have read the light novel and Manhua so often that this kind of video makes me want to correct and clarify finer details. But doing so would ultimately spoil the story and fun moments when the details are revealed. This video is not for someone like me, a loser who has no-life read this story. I watched it because I was curious about another person's experience with the story. But it is undoubtedly suitable for someone who has never read it or read it once a long time ago and doesn't fully remember it.
Wild theory: What if the Infinite being is the Author who created the world
(Just the baseline. MMORPG systems exist in the real world etc) and then
the author said "now ill just let the story guide my way to keep writing".
So the infinite being was Killed by its cast of the show and the plotline.
Or maybe im just a highschool teacher overanalyzing.
One fact that you missed is that The Absolute Being created way more than just the humans, he created many worlds that the Monarchs destroyed.
That’s why the Rulers were adamant on keeping humanity alive.
Because they had failed in countless worlds, they decided “nah that’s enough!” And decided earth would be the final battlefield against the Monarchs.

I remember reading the web comic years ago really happy it finally got a anime adaptation
One of my favorite things about solo leveling is even the normal things that makes people roll their eyes with a regular OP protagonist stories, ends up being lore realivent, more then that they are important story beats. Stuff like "Oh only he levels up? Only he has this super badass abilities?" These normally cringy things become crucial to the story and makes the manwha a blend of powerfantasy and deep lore and story.
The explanation for the system, and the systems creator, and how that whole tet a tet ends was done real well

Hello. This may be a hot take but I personally have found solo levelling's story to be lacklustre. I was really excited to read a story where the main character started as the weakest and you see their journey to become stronger- i even bought the manwa to read- but I feel that jinwoo's character arc after he is given power over the system to be too smooth as he has the overpowered hero trope but without something to make him interesting from a narrative point of view other than the vague and undemonstrated idea that he was slowly losing his humanity. Saitama and hibino kafka for example are interesting overpowered characters because they struggle with moral dilemmas, saitama struggling with the monotony of being too strong and the emptiness of achieving ones goals while kafka needs to be stronger as a human and not just as a kaiju, but sung only goes from strength to strength without any real struggle, especially after he gets his arise powers. It was after his fight with igris then the dark elves that i started to notice the fact that sung when confronted with a stronger enemy would either just stab them in the eye or just punched them real hard which personally feels very narratively unsatisfying because its just kind of boring and repetitive. Although a manwa having clever ways of resolving the contflict isnt always necessary, the fact that the premise of the story is sung working hard and strategically to level up means that you would at least expect there to be more emphasis on clever strategy or at least emphasis on how his drive to win in an arguably dishonorable way makes him morally questionnable. But the story makes no effort to cast this moral dilemma on sung as everyone he meets is just impressed by him or fancies him which is very main isekai character typical, which i honestly expected more from. I think it wouldve gone done easier for me if sung has any demonstrable character traits of interest, but i personally cant find any except for wants to protect family in a generic way and is edgy now. I actually preferred him as his old happy go lucky struggling self but who he is now is super generic and if its to show that killing and doing what he does killed his innocence I am unsatisfied with how it is presented.
Anyway thats a long post but ive been holding this in for a while now 😅 I of course dont have anything against people who do enjoy solo levelling and I do really think the artwork of the manwa is fantastic and the arise powers is extremely interesting- but the plot and character of jung just doesnt captivate me. I enjoy hearing your takes on things so in the unlikely event that you see this id love to hear what you think.

@BlindFoldedCreeper "spoiler adjacent" and "talking about it in a round about way" means trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but after saying this he just straight up gives the whole last third of the story's plot and spoils things readers didn't know for several hundred chapters and watchers who enjoy the journey shouldn't have been told about. There is 100% a way to do this video without plot dumping like he did. This was a failure in that regard.
So far the show is exciting AF I like the manhua a lot. They really squeezed a lot in these 22 min episodes, my only complaint is that they’re not long enough .
Solo Leveling is so damn mid. I can't wait for it to be labeled as a waste of time.
You're awesome man
Love this please keep doing these
For me Sung Jin Woo is my inspiration and motivation to become the ultimate. That is why I like the story, its always about how "the system" supports him to become the ultimate being. Our life is all about Rulers and Monarchs but I have to push myself to become that vessel who becomes the ultimate being that stands above all. That's how I see the plot. I don't know how you guys feel. For me Solo leveling is motivational and encouraging...
Bruh it’s Sung Jin-Woo lol… I get the idea you also say “Law D Tralfagar” also 🤔
Good video though lol
Potential SPOILERS:
So basically Sung is Ashbourne and is essentially a villain (or antihero)! Also the whole idea of S rank is the 7 Rulers powers (I’m guessing here)?
Furthermore, Immediately said that the double dungeon statue was the main villain. Though wrong (since it’s dead), I was on the right track.
But why the RPG screen though? Still confused about that lol!
Blood, gore, and death!!!! About damn time!!! It's so rare to find anime with these; the ones that do are usually good.
Sooooo.....season 4?
I want to give you a quick correction. The absolute ruler didnt create earth for the monarch and rulers to fight over. He created many worlds and universes for them to fight over. Earth was just the place the rulers chose as a battlefield to fight the monarchs.
I waited so long for Solo Leveling to get animated. And i get a mid tier anime with nice animations.
Iv been waiting ages for somebody make solo leveling content. There arent much. Its nice to finally have some
You can tell you skimmed through a great read amd it shows. i read SL 9 times and the novel once. the war was never about Earth for eternity. It was just the perfect stage for more war. They fought all over the Universe. They don't travel through time with the CUP of reincarnation but rewind it, or return to a save point. And Ashborne army wasn't destroyed. After the betrayal of the Monarchs, which not all Monarchs knew about because they were confused when Jinwoo wasn't on their side. It was the Rulers in a tough Love way the used gates to geoform earth, but the system creator slipped in with a plan to create a host strong enough to contain his power.
Nicely done. Good voice, good humor.
Smart video, great timing
this is the first video I saw after watching episode 12 of the anime and the back story just blew my mind! I admit I was part of the few (or many) that believed that it was a rather bland storyline and almost predictable but I watched along anyway because it had interesting fighting scenes and something kept on compelling me to continue watching. I'm definitely sold on SL. great video man you deserve this sub! 👍🏼
