So many wonderful memories in this video. I was 11 that year and remember watching Charlie's Angels and Three's Company. I didn't see Star Wars until later and the same with Saturday Night Fever but you couldn't get away from the music of the Bee Gees. Great times!
That was enjoyable to watch, Thank You. After graduating High School on 05Jun77, in August I got a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE, 440 with a Torqueflite. $1700. One of the strongest cars I ever had around. Now if I only had the foresight to hang on to it after all these years.....
I graduated "75 and bought a '72 Road Runner in "79 for $700. 400CI with the pistol-grip 4-speed. Most fun car I've ever owned. Chick magnet. That back bench seat took a beating; good thing it was vinyl.

I turned 13 in the fall of 1976 so 1977 was my first summer as an actual teenager. My biggest memory wasn't mentioned here and that was Smokey and the Bandit! I remember going with my mother and father to see it. The Pontiac Trans Am became an overnight hit and every kid wanted one! I also started earning money by mowing lawns in my neighborhood in 1977 which by the time I turned 16 I had earned enough money to purchase my first car.
One of my favorite years ever. Turned 9yrs old this yr(May7). One of the main things was my family moved in Oct. '77(we stayed at our previous home for 15yrs)and met new friends. Became a sports fan(NBA on CBS and the NFL today). The best Easter and Xmas ever(got all the gifts i asked for). I live in Memphis and i remember when Elvis died, it was hot and humid as hell that day, thousands of people were in front of his mansion(all of the local/national networks covered it). What i also remember is dozens of people were medivac to hospitals from heat exhaustion/stroke standing in front of Elvis' mansion. In spite of this, i loved/enjoyed '77!!✌🏾🧡
I was living in Memphis at this time also. I just happened to be having tires put on my car right down from Graceland. The crowds filled the streets. Took me alot longer than usual to get home. We had tickets to see Willie Nelson that night in Memphis. I'd never heard of him but my friend convinced me I'd love it. Jerry Lee Lewis made a surprise appearance in honor of Elvis. I'll never forget that day.
I was only 20 years old, and I was on my own. I was working at Hudson's Eastland Mall, and that was my second year anniversary of working for Hudson's Eastland Mall. I also remember when it snowed in Florida. I remember the movie Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta. I even remember Disco Dancing back then. I am now 64 years old and retired. I also wished that videos were longer. About 20 to 25 Minutes would do.
"Roots" was shown in my 10th grade history class. I had already watched it on tv but that was my first experience with a VCR. Seeing the show again with commentary by my teacher really hit home and got me interested in history.

I January 1977, I was in Kindergarten and it snowed in Temple Terrace Florida that morning on my way to school, first time seeing snow, it was awesome!
For me, 1977 was the summer of Star Wars. My grandmother took me to see it, just before it blew up and the lines became blocks long. It was a major moment in independence for me at not quite ten years old, I was allowed to ride my bike to our local theater. Every cent I could beg, borrow, earn, or steal went to Star Wars. I remember the other things in the video, but nothing could compare to it. And if you were there as well, you understand.
Saturday Night Fever was a Great Movie and Album. Disco Clubs were the place to go on Weekends and dance. Everyone dressed nice and had a great time at the Disco Clubs. I loved the style of clothes!
Elvis’s death had effected everyone in someway. I remember my parents went to buy his records . Store after store we’re sold out. Never saw anything like it since. Not even Micheal Jackson’s death could compare. Long Live Zee King.

I was a '77 high school graduate! The winter of '77 was followed up by the blizzard '78! Boy,did it snow ❄! 3rd shift showed for work and never left for 3days!
1977 was a life-changing year for me. Went to my first Grateful Dead concert, took my first hit of acid, graduated high school, drove to Alaska with my 2 best friends, lost my virginity, cried when Elvis died, started my career as a newspaper photographer, started college, quit college. Wish I could do it all over again.
I was 18 , I remember that year very well. My Grandmother died in that great Johnstown flood of 77 and my wife’s father passed later that year in December.
I'm a 70's, 80's child. Before the video even started, 1977, first thing I thought was a HUGE snow storm in Washington, DC, where I still live and in the same childhood home. So ironic. I remember just about everything these videos are showing; movies, tv shows, music, events, clothing, etc. My older brother and I were in South Caroline with our grandmother visiting her relatives when Elvis Presley passed. Always remembered that. 😊😊😊
I was 11 years old at the time. I was living in Jacksonville Florida when it snowed. I clearly and vividly remember that day and was absolutely thrilled. We got about 2 to 3 in of snow. I'm also glad to learn that Carter pardoned the Vietnam draft evaders. They deserve pardoning. Should have never gone to Vietnam to begin with. I lived with my grandparents at the time, and I remember us watching the miniseries Roots on TV. And, of course, the news of the death of Elvis Presley was all over the news. A day that's impossible to forget; even as an eleven-year-old, the shock was superimposed for me, because of the fact that Elvis had just being in Jacksonville six months or so earlier, in concert. Several of my classmates went to the concert with their parents. I still remember walking down the street that day, thinking about it. And, of course, living in Jacksonville, everyone knew about Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash.
Just discovered this channel like literally a couple of days ago and these short historical videos are so cool for a history buff like myself especially being able to see things that happened during my childhood that I was too young too remember or from my parents childhood.
Rumors is a solid album. Lindsey Buckingham is underrated as a guitarist and Stevie, well what's not to love. I remember I was walking home from an audition with my guitar when I heard about Elvis. We were by a park so I broke out the instrument and we did a quick rendition of "That's Alright" in his honor. But 77 stands out for me because of an encounter I had with a stranger. This man used to come into the cafeteria where I bussed tables kind of frequently. Anyway, one day he asked me if I would join him on my break. I did and he asked me what the hell I was doing. I told him I was working and he said exactly. I was 16 and he said I should be in school doing kid stuff with other kids, not working all day. He went on to tell me about his life, how he started working when he was 13 and made his fortune by the time he was 30. He said one day he woke up and he was 50 and had nothing but money. He had no fond childhood memories to look back on. He told me he sold his business and was making memories now but they would always be old memories. Sometimes you just have to hear something at the right time. I decided he was right and told my boss I was going to start attending high school during the day instead of going at night like I had been doing. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I went back and had a blast, doing kid stuff with other kids and graduating on time. I didn't see him after that but I know God sent him to me that day. I hope when the time comes and I'm called home that I will meet the man who always wore a tie and whose shoes were always shined and thank him for setting me straight. Like the old adage goes, sometimes a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.

Seeing them succeed has given me great satisfaction over the years and it continues to be the most rewarding aspect of any project I'm associated with these days.
Great post ....... i sent it to a couple friends of mine .I'm 62 and I really can relate not so much to the content of leaving work but the man talking about having no childhood memories which are extremely important and still are to my friends and myself many whom i still speak with and of course some are deceased already so it makes it that much more meaningful..the fact that the guy took the time to try and help a stranger see something he didnt....wonderful !!!!

The restaurants are cool, but most people know maybe half of them. He needs to come up with a new concept. It must take a fair amount of research to find out all of this. I love the late 70s, I was just turning 12 in 1977 and started to pay more attention to the world outside my suburban house. This brings back so much of those feelings of both dread and excitement to me every day brought something else new. My parents did not let me watch Fantasy Island because 1) it came on at 10pm much too late for me to be up and 2) My mother swore it was the 'devils' show LOL! President Jimmy Carter was much too nice and peaceful of a person to be a world leader. To this day, he gives up his time and money to help others.
Also that year: Movies "Close Encounters of the Third kind" and "Smokey and the Bandit". Aviation: Flight 242 crash landed in a wooded area in rural Georgia. The passenger airliner ran out of fuel and the pilots gallantly attempted land on a highway. The plane landed near a house which surviving passengers stayed in till help arrived. Music: The Commodores release their self-titled album which featured the classic hits "(She's A) Brickhouse", "Easy (like Sunday Mornin')and "Zoom".

Should also mention the original live action Wonder Woman TV series was on that year her second season I think. And the Bill Bixby/ Lou Ferrigno Incredible Hulk TV series, along with Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind in theaters late that year.
Also in 1977: "Rich Girl" reached #1. The first of six #1 hits for Daryl Hall and John Oates. "Second Chance", the precursor to "Press Your Luck", premiered and cancelled after 95 episodes. Marquette won their first and only NCAA men's basketball championship. Groucho Marx died (same day as Elvis Presley).
Alfred James McGuire (1928-2001) coached the 1976-77 Marquette Warriors (now the Golden Eagles) basketball team to their only men's title. After which, he became a college basketball commentator for NBC and later CBS.
My mom had Roots on the TV in the hospital while giving birth to me. I must have caught the spirit because I fought the process. Got turned around in the womb, foot caught in her ribs and the cord wrapped around my neck!!
Graduated high school in 1977. The 70's were something else. Neglected to mention, however, the capture of David Berkowitz, Son of Sam, in NYC, where I grew up. Berkowitz was captured August 10th, less than a week before Elvis died. Oh yeah, also the Blackout in NYC, July 1977.
The year I finish highschool. The inaugural year of the ride Space Mountain at Disneyland, which I rode on Grad Night one week before my 18th birthday. Mark Hamill had briefly attended my highschool a few years before I started. My Mom was in the early years of her RN career, helping to bring public health clinics to our community. My oldest brother was in his second year at Princeton University on a full scholarship. And, sadly my Dad passed away three months after my highschool graduation. 1977 was quite a year indeed. Oh, also I began college that year.

Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo starring Dean Jones and Don Knotts was released. Rollercoaster starring George Segal, Henry Fonda and Timothy Bottoms was released.
In the summer of 1977, Walt Disney released "The Rescuers." It featured the voices of Eva Gabor as Bianca, Bob Newhart as Bernard, Michelle Stacy as Penny, Jim Jordan as Orville the albatross, Geraldine Page as Madame Medusa and others too numerous to mention. Another animated cartoon movie "Raggedy Ann & Andy: The Musical Adventures." It featured the voices of Didi Conn as Raggedy Ann and Mark-Linn Baker as Raggedy Andy. The Peanuts Gang's third animated movie "Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown!!!" was also released.
Annie Hall was released in the spring of 1977, and would go on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Director (Woody Allen) and Best Picture at the 50th Academy Awards.
It was a busy year for sure. I got married that year when I was 19. I didn't realize how young we were lol. It lasted 20+ years. We hooked a sled up to his Fairlady and took turns driving and sliding in the ice and snow. We went to see Star Wars and loved it! At the end of the year I turned 20 and was so glad I wasn't a teenager any more.😂
I was a freshman in High School in Miami when the snow came... it was hilarious. I also worked at the Turnpike drive -in and remember the ABSOLUTE CRAZINESS of Star Wars. Our co-owned sister theater on the other end of town, with two screens turned the movie down, (opting instead for Annie Hall and Smokey and the bandit) because the owner said: "Who wants to see a space picture?" within 10 days both theaters were showing the movie on all three screens twice a night in a "held over" status. We ran star wars for 6 weeks.
And not to mention, British-born actor Peter Finch, who posthumously won the Academy Award Best Actor for his portrayal of Howard Beale in the film "Network"
I loved Joan Crawford's movies. I think at one time she was the queen of Hollywood. I remember Stephen Boyd from a lot of old movies we'd watch on Saturday mornings.
Also in 1977... Shoot for the Stars hosted by Geoff Edwards premiered on NBC. Busting Loose starring Adam Arkin, Barbara Rhoades and Jack Kruschen premiered on CBS. It's Anybody's Guess hosted by Monty Hall premiered on NBC. Lou Grant starring Ed Asner premiered on CBS. Man from Atlantis starring Patrick Duffy and Belinda J. Montgomery premiered on NBC. The Betty White Show starring Betty White premiered on CBS. The New Mickey Mouse Club premiered on Syndication. The Fantastic Journey starring Jared Martin, Ike Eisenmann, Carl Franklin, Katie Saylor and Roddy McDowall premiered on NBC.
And for 1977 TV: The first 2 hour Saturday morning cartoon show - "Scooby's All Star Laff a Lympics" premiered on ABC Saturday mornings in September 1977.
I was living in South Florida at the time when it snowed, I remember going to school that morning and my Dad couldn't believe it he put his jacket on the hood of the car to see the flakes. It didn't last long only for a few moments but it's something I'll never forget 🤔

Smokey and the Bandit was also released to theaters on Memorial Day Weekend as well as the horrible Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire in Southgate Kentucky just south of Cincinnati where 165 patrons lost their lives
I grew up in Johnstown, PA. I lived on top of the holl in the background of the Main St photo shown here in the video. My neighborhood was called Westmont. I was 6 years old the night of the storm/flood and I was terrified because there was so much lightning and thunder. We lost power and my mom said I fell adleep around 1030 pm. My dad woke me up in the morning and we drove the couple minutes to the top of the Inclined Plane and looked down over the city. All the destruction was very clear. I remember telling my dad that cars weren't supposed to float (I was very confused by that). Thanks for mentioning our flood story.

I was sitting in the car in town at the cottage. My mom always stopped at the bakery to get fresh bread on the way. I was listening to radio and the news came on about Elvis. Elvis turned out to be my JFK moment.

On May 29th probably the most famous automobile race of the 20th century was run at the annual Indy 500. During qualifications that year driver Tom Sneva turned the first 200mph laps at the famous track and then Janet Guthrie became the first woman to qualify for...and drive in the 500. On race day itself the legend A.J. Foyt became the first driver in history to win 4 Indy 500s!

Those were my big memories that summer. All my mom's family are from Yonkers NY. Being 17 & never watching the news I head into the city by train the day after the black out! Insane. Get to Grand Central & no trains are running. Take a bus to Bronxville & then a cab to their house. Pretty good for a sheltered NJ suburban teen. Let the party begin. I'm staying at my aunt & uncles. He's a Lt. Detective in the Yonkers PD. He overheard my cousins talking about a party at Untermeyer's Park. All he sad to me was DONT. Cops are raiding that place. OK lots of other trouble to get up to. Son of Sam was caught outside his apt. In Yonkers later that summer in Aug.

I saw Star Wars in Baytown, Texas at the Brunson Twin Theater. Old fashioned theater with huge screen. I remember Elvis' death. Atari 2600 was the 2nd video game we had. I still preferred to play outside.

That winter of '77 was NUTS. It got down to -23F in our little town just north of Dayton. Ohio. Started snowing on my birthday (Jan 28) and school didn't reopen till March 1st! That was it for my parents, next thing you know we were moving to Florida. We were actually moving into our new house the day Elvis died. My mom was a HUGE Elvis fan and was crushed at the news. I'll never forget her sitting on the floor, balling her eyes out like a little girl. Miss you mom!
Turned 16 in 76 got my driver's license in 77 was a junior and the world was a little cra cra, we really didn't know what to expect next. But great movies and greater music left great memories .
I was 18 years old. I went to see "Star Wars" with my father, "Saturday Night Fever" with my girlfriend. I was at my older brother's house when news of Elvis Presley's death was announced on television, i believe we were watching "McCloud". " Roots was riveting television, great series. Every year has it's good, bad, ugly.
Every day that summer, I’d read the NY Post or Daily News about the Son of Sam murders. The whole city was on edge. It was also the summer of The Black Out in NYC. Crazy time, 1977.
I was 12 that year, remember most of these things, Star Wars was just so amazing at the time, loved the old TV shows like Three's Company and Love Boat. Hard to believe it has been over 40 years since all of this stuff.

It starred Jonathan Harris (from "Lost in Space") as Commander Isaac Gampu, with Pam Ferdin as Laura Gentry, Rick Carrott as her brother Chris, Maggie Cooper as Adrienne, Ty Henderson as Paul Jerome, Brian Tochi as Tee Gar Sume and Eric Greene as Loki. It was followed by "What's New, Mr. Magoo?". It featured the voices of Jim Backus as Quincy Magoo, Bobby Ogle as McBarker the nearsighted bulldog and Casey Kasem as Quincy's teenage nephew Waldo. Filmation Studios' animated superhero show "The Young Sentinels" made its debut on NBC-TV. It featured the voices of George DiCenzo as Hercules & Sentinel One with Dee Timberlake as Astria, Evan Kim as Mercury and Ross Hagen as Moe the robot.
The summer of 1977 was a very special time for me. Those were great days.

Crazy year. Some highs and definite lows. I will always remember going to see Star Wars for the first time with my dad. We were blown away!

I turned 13 in the fall of 1976 so 1977 was my first summer as an actual teenager. My biggest memory wasn't mentioned here and that was Smokey and the Bandit! I remember going with my mother and father to see it. The Pontiac Trans Am became an overnight hit and every kid wanted one! I also started earning money by mowing lawns in my neighborhood in 1977 which by the time I turned 16 I had earned enough money to purchase my first car.
One of my favorite years ever. Turned 9yrs old this yr(May7). One of the main things was my family moved in Oct. '77(we stayed at our previous home for 15yrs)and met new friends. Became a sports fan(NBA on CBS and the NFL today). The best Easter and Xmas ever(got all the gifts i asked for). I live in Memphis and i remember when Elvis died, it was hot and humid as hell that day, thousands of people were in front of his mansion(all of the local/national networks covered it). What i also remember is dozens of people were medivac to hospitals from heat exhaustion/stroke standing in front of Elvis' mansion. In spite of this, i loved/enjoyed '77!!✌🏾🧡
I was living in Memphis at this time also. I just happened to be having tires put on my car right down from Graceland. The crowds filled the streets. Took me alot longer than usual to get home. We had tickets to see Willie Nelson that night in Memphis. I'd never heard of him but my friend convinced me I'd love it. Jerry Lee Lewis made a surprise appearance in honor of Elvis. I'll never forget that day.

I was only 20 years old, and I was on my own. I was working at Hudson's Eastland Mall, and that was my second year anniversary of working for Hudson's Eastland Mall. I also remember when it snowed in Florida. I remember the movie Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta. I even remember Disco Dancing back then. I am now 64 years old and retired.
I also wished that videos were longer. About 20 to 25 Minutes would do.
"Roots" was shown in my 10th grade history class. I had already watched it on tv but that was my first experience with a VCR. Seeing the show again with commentary by my teacher really hit home and got me interested in history.

For me, 1977 was the summer of Star Wars. My grandmother took me to see it, just before it blew up and the lines became blocks long. It was a major moment in independence for me at not quite ten years old, I was allowed to ride my bike to our local theater. Every cent I could beg, borrow, earn, or steal went to Star Wars. I remember the other things in the video, but nothing could compare to it. And if you were there as well, you understand.

Elvis’s death had effected everyone in someway. I remember my parents went to buy his records . Store after store we’re sold out. Never saw anything like it since. Not even Micheal Jackson’s death could compare.

1977 was a life-changing year for me. Went to my first Grateful Dead concert, took my first hit of acid, graduated high school, drove to Alaska with my 2 best friends, lost my virginity, cried when Elvis died, started my career as a newspaper photographer, started college, quit college. Wish I could do it all over again.

I'm a 70's, 80's child. Before the video even started, 1977, first thing I thought was a HUGE snow storm in Washington, DC, where I still live and in the same childhood home. So ironic. I remember just about everything these videos are showing; movies, tv shows, music, events, clothing, etc. My older brother and I were in South Caroline with our grandmother visiting her relatives when Elvis Presley passed. Always remembered that. 😊😊😊

I was 11 years old at the time. I was living in Jacksonville Florida when it snowed. I clearly and vividly remember that day and was absolutely thrilled. We got about 2 to 3 in of snow. I'm also glad to learn that Carter pardoned the Vietnam draft evaders. They deserve pardoning. Should have never gone to Vietnam to begin with. I lived with my grandparents at the time, and I remember us watching the miniseries Roots on TV. And, of course, the news of the death of Elvis Presley was all over the news. A day that's impossible to forget; even as an eleven-year-old, the shock was superimposed for me, because of the fact that Elvis had just being in Jacksonville six months or so earlier, in concert. Several of my classmates went to the concert with their parents. I still remember walking down the street that day, thinking about it. And, of course, living in Jacksonville, everyone knew about Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash.

Just discovered this channel like literally a couple of days ago and these short historical videos are so cool for a history buff like myself especially being able to see things that happened during my childhood that I was too young too remember or from my parents childhood.
Losing Elvis was probably pretty sad for his fans. I know my grandma cried when she heard. My mom was only 6 but she remembers it.
I was three years old and I remember it.
My Aunt and Uncle were friends of Col. Parker, Elvis Presley’s manager. They meet Elvis and wish I could have meet him.
Very intense year it was especially us elvis fans.
Rumors is a solid album. Lindsey Buckingham is underrated as a guitarist and Stevie, well what's not to love. I remember I was walking home from an audition with my guitar when I heard about Elvis. We were by a park so I broke out the instrument and we did a quick rendition of "That's Alright" in his honor. But 77 stands out for me because of an encounter I had with a stranger. This man used to come into the cafeteria where I bussed tables kind of frequently. Anyway, one day he asked me if I would join him on my break. I did and he asked me what the hell I was doing. I told him I was working and he said exactly. I was 16 and he said I should be in school doing kid stuff with other kids, not working all day. He went on to tell me about his life, how he started working when he was 13 and made his fortune by the time he was 30. He said one day he woke up and he was 50 and had nothing but money. He had no fond childhood memories to look back on. He told me he sold his business and was making memories now but they would always be old memories. Sometimes you just have to hear something at the right time. I decided he was right and told my boss I was going to start attending high school during the day instead of going at night like I had been doing. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I went back and had a blast, doing kid stuff with other kids and graduating on time. I didn't see him after that but I know God sent him to me that day. I hope when the time comes and I'm called home that I will meet the man who always wore a tie and whose shoes were always shined and thank him for setting me straight. Like the old adage goes, sometimes a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.

Great post ....... i sent it to a couple friends of mine .I'm 62 and I really can relate not so much to the content of leaving work but the man talking about having no childhood memories which are extremely important and still are to my friends and myself many whom i still speak with and of course some are deceased already so it makes it that much more meaningful..the fact that the guy took the time to try and help a stranger see something he didnt....wonderful !!!!

Well he is running out of years, he does 1 or two a week of years. How far do we recollect? Up to 2000? That gives him until about January. The restaurants are cool, but most people know maybe half of them. He needs to come up with a new concept. It must take a fair amount of research to find out all of this. I love the late 70s, I was just turning 12 in 1977 and started to pay more attention to the world outside my suburban house. This brings back so much of those feelings of both dread and excitement to me every day brought something else new. My parents did not let me watch Fantasy Island because 1) it came on at 10pm much too late for me to be up and 2) My mother swore it was the 'devils' show LOL! President Jimmy Carter was much too nice and peaceful of a person to be a world leader. To this day, he gives up his time and money to help others.

My oldest brother was in his second year at Princeton University on a full scholarship. And, sadly my Dad passed away three months after my highschool graduation.

It was a busy year for sure. I got married that year when I was 19. I didn't realize how young we were lol. It lasted 20+ years. We hooked a sled up to his Fairlady and took turns driving and sliding in the ice and snow. We went to see Star Wars and loved it! I was a freshman in High School in Miami when the snow came... it was hilarious. I also worked at the Turnpike drive -in and remember the ABSOLUTE CRAZINESS of Star Wars. Our co-owned sister theater on the other end of town, with two screens turned the movie down, (opting instead for Annie Hall and Smokey and the bandit) because the owner said: "Who wants to see a space picture?" within 10 days both theaters were showing the movie on all three screens twice a night in a "held over" status. We ran star wars for 6 weeks.
I was surprised but pleased to see Christa helm mentioned. They should make a movie about her life.

Smokey and the Bandit was also released to theaters on Memorial Day Weekend as well as the horrible Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire in Southgate Kentucky just south of Cincinnati where 165 patrons lost their lives
I grew up in Johnstown, PA. I lived on top of the holl in the background of the Main St photo shown here in the video. My neighborhood was called Westmont. I was 6 years old the night of the storm/flood and I was terrified because there was so much lightning and thunder. We lost power and my mom said I fell adleep around 1030 pm. My dad woke me up in the morning and we drove the couple minutes to the top of the Inclined Plane and looked down over the city. All the destruction was very clear. I remember telling my dad that cars weren't supposed to float (I was very confused by that).

On May 29th probably the most famous automobile race of the 20th century was run at the annual Indy 500. During qualifications that year driver Tom Sneva turned the first 200mph laps at the famous track and then Janet Guthrie became the first woman to qualify for...and drive in the 500. On race day itself the legend A.J. Foyt became the first driver in history to win 4 Indy 500s!
We had taken my 6 year old nephew in to raise that year and I remember buying him every Star Wars toy for Christmas I could find.

Those were my big memories that summer. All my mom's family are from Yonkers NY. Being 17 & never watching the news I head into the city by train the day after the black out! Insane. Get to Grand Central & no trains are running. Take a bus to Bronxville & then a cab to their house. Pretty good for a sheltered NJ suburban teen. Let the party begin. I'm staying at my aunt & uncles. He's a Lt. Detective in the Yonkers PD. He overheard my cousins talking about a party at Untermeyer's Park. All he sad to me was DONT. Cops are raiding that place. OK lots of other trouble to get up to. Son of Sam was caught outside his apt. In Yonkers later that summer in Aug.

I had graduated from high school and off to college. I had so much Fun! I was on my own and felt so grown up.

1977. Will always be a special year to me, till i die.That was the year that i turned 16 and got my drivers license. And YES Three's Company. STILL my Favorite sitcom to this day! And Lastly meeting a special girl,that i never got over! Cindy Robin Ordway...From Angola, Indiana..

I saw Star Wars in Baytown, Texas at the Brunson Twin Theater. Old fashioned theater with huge screen.
I remember Elvis' death. Atari 2600 was the 2nd video game we had. I still preferred to play outside.

three's company absolutely loved the show and still do to this day I have the dvd collection. I wasn't a star wars geek lol. the good old days. it was sad when the singer of lynyrd skynyrd and the other members passed away. and the king of rock and roll Elvis left the building
That winter of '77 was NUTS. It got down to -23F in our little town just north of Dayton. Ohio. Started snowing on my birthday (Jan 28) and school didn't reopen till March 1st! That was it for my parents, next thing you know we were moving to Florida. We were actually moving into our new house the day Elvis died. My mom was a HUGE Elvis fan and was crushed at the news. I'll never forget her sitting on the floor, balling her eyes out like a little girl. Miss you mom!
Turned 16 in 76 got my driver's license in 77 was a junior and the world was a little cra cra, we really didn't know what to expect next. But great movies and greater music left great memories .
I was only 3 and my dad took me to see Star Wars and it was the first movie I could remember seeing at a theater
I was 18 years old. I went to see "Star Wars" with my father, "Saturday Night Fever" with my girlfriend. I was at my older brother's house when news of Elvis Presley's death was announced on television, i believe we were watching "McCloud". " Roots was riveting television, great series. Every year has it's good, bad, ugly.
LOL...i was 9yrs old and watching The Brady Bunch reruns when the news of Elvis was announced.

I remember the snow in Tampa in '77, it was awesome and still talked about to this day.
Every day that summer, I’d read the NY Post or Daily News about the Son of Sam murders. The whole city was on edge. It was also the summer of The Black Out in NYC. Crazy time, 1977.
I was 12 that year, remember most of these things, Star Wars was just so amazing at the time, loved the old TV shows like Three's Company and Love Boat. Hard to believe it has been over 40 years since all of this stuff.
On Saturday morning, September the tenth, 1977, Filmation Studios' fourth live-action TV show "The Space Academy" made its debut on CBS. It starred Jonathan Harris (from "Lost in Space") as Commander Isaac Gampu, with Pam Ferdin as Laura Gentry, Rick Carrott as her brother Chris, Maggie Cooper as Adrienne, Ty Henderson as Paul Jerome, Brian Tochi as Tee Gar Sume and Eric Greene as Loki. It was followed by "What's New, Mr. Magoo?". It featured the voices of Jim Backus as Quincy Magoo, Bobby Ogle as McBarker the nearsighted bulldog and Casey Kasem as Quincy's teenage nephew Waldo. Filmation Studios' animated superhero show "The Young Sentinels" made its debut on NBC-TV. It featured the voices of George DiCenzo as Hercules & Sentinel One with Dee Timberlake as Astria, Evan Kim as Mercury and Ross Hagen as Moe the robot.
