I'm pleased Villa have smart people in recruitment & understand the bullshit around Jhon Duran & are not falling for other clubs trying it on & thinking we're desperate enough too accept below our valuation for our player. With the lack of decent strikers around other clubs need too pay what we believe is right or go buy somewhere else. 😊
totally agree with you. it's a real shame that the kid doesn't realize what he can have at Villa. Contrast with Amadou Onana, only 22, who handles himself much more professionally and is a more mature individual. UTV
Say thank you for the goals and the general madness, give him a handshake and a signed photo of Paul Mcgrath and send him on his way. We don't need any disruptive influences in the dressing room
Woe betide any team looking to take Duran on regardless of his clear potential!. He and his agent are all about “Team Duran” and I would be concerned as a potential suitor about there being no obvious reason for him throwing his dummy out the pram, subsequently I’d also be concerned about the fact that there’s no guarantee that his attitude will dissipate nor is there any guarantee that his potential is even there and/or is going to be realised!. What if he gives you a great season then gets worse and starts making demands. I know he’s going to be good but he’s not worth the hassle!. UTV
The only defence I could give for Jhon Duran as far as the West Ham thing goes, remember when Tyrone Mings went back to Bournemouth in an Aston Villa kit after the loan. That is arguably worse than the Hammers gesture in isolation. Its just the I'd rather be anywhere else style twerking for other clubs to come sign him because is not our main man that is extremely immature. He needs someone to tell him the more he does these kind of things the less chance a club will want to gamble on his potential
It is not going to be easy to find a club he will be happier at than Villa and that will pay the fee. He will not be guaranteed to play at any club either, whatever assurances he gets. I think he might still be a Villa player when the window shuts. It will be interesting to see if he turns out for us, or trains with the youths.

I worry for Duran's future in general to be honest. Potential can only get you so far and I do wonder why any club would even want to go in for him if this is the behaviour that they are seeing. We need to sell him because I genuinely think that his value will only decrease the more obvious it is in regards to his general attitude.
This may sound immature but at this point I don't care - I'd absolutely love it if we get loads of money and send him off to waste away in the Saudi League. I don't want to think about any Villa player like that but at the end of the day he's insulted my club multiple times. Cash in and send him to Saudi.
I can't lie, I am gutted we aren't going to see him evolve under Emery; As strange as it may seem I find him endearing, maybe an odd word to use, but there is another side to him as he is great with the young fans, the mascots and is truly delighted when he scores. In matches, I have loved how he challenges the opposition and even our own players. As an example at Anfield he came on in the last few mins of the match, charging into Gomez, stood nose to nose challenging him, a matcho stand off. Gomez couldn't believe it 😂 As trute as this may sound, he is truly an original and whether you like him or not he grabs attention as soon as he walks on to the pitch (rare) and he often creates and delivers. Unfortunately he is still on the cusp of his career that could be derailed. He is clearly poorly advised while he is going thru his teenage brat phase and as much as I enjoy him its right we have drawn a line in the sand, its right that we are being professional, keeping the drama to his side not adding to it.
as someone who has been club secretary, you can include a clause stating he cannot play against the selling club, but obviously has to be agreed by both sides.
I'm 72 and a life long villan. If he wants to go then get rid, just like Andy Gray wanted to leave years ago. BTW Andy polished your European Cup winners medal lately? 😀
John, I’m with you that Duran has the potential to be perhaps a generational talent. He scored three of our best goals last season. Unfortunately though, he clearly wants and needs out. Apparently he spends most of his time in London and being down there with a second rate club is more attractive to him than being in the champions league at a midlands club. Screw the purchaser for maximum dollar and include a hefty sell-on.
End of the day, be professional as actions like Duran has shown young or not sets a bad precedent for his future. But I also think his agent must be a total tool and being in his ear constantly only thinking his value will raise with a little more football without actually caring about his progress. It’s just a sad state of affairs but at the end of the day whatever Unai and Monchi decide I will back, think they should probably focus on Archer now and develop him for the back up role to Watkins and hopefully in time he’ll be leading the charge.
It’s a bit of a ridiculous situation considering our PSR dealings. If he wants to move, all he needs to do is murmur and we’ll ship him somewhere decent and cash in (like we’re trying to do). Other clubs aren’t stupid, his behaviour waves a big red flag which negatively impacts all parties involved. As for his quality, unless he grows up, he’ll only be a flash of brilliance player. In a way, I hope he does stay and comes to realise he’s in a really good place for his development, but like you say, it’s probably too late for that now.

I think Duran has blossomed early and probably won't keep developing at this rate... He has the tools to be a very good striker but definitely doesn't have the mentality to be a top player. I can't think of any top player or aguero, Torres, Owen, fowler etc in any position who had this attitude at 20... It's not immaturity it's his character.

See you later Duran you could have been a leg end here just like Angel but hey ho best go and grow up a little then realise you moved real mad
I think he’s a gonna be a great striker. I was always crying for him to come on when the chips were down. Will never forget those 2 goals against Liverpool. I hope we don’t sell him and can come to some compromise!
Duran makes Mario Balotelli look like a sane and rational human being. One day someone will write a PhD on his suicidal levels of hubris and narcissism.
