This Is NOT A Wheelie Tutorial

- If you clicked on this video because you did NOT want to watch a Supermoto wheelie tutorial, you're in luck.
Instead, here's a genuine (painful) look at someone who sucks at motorcycle wheelies trying to learn how to get to balance point. I really do welcome criticism and advice in the comments. If you have some stunt knowledge and want to share it, please do. I'm sure it will help out other viewers too.
This video definitely isn't made to be taken too seriously - I just enjoy riding bikes & editing.
After messing around for a bit, getting more rear brake confidence, and watching this footage back 1000 times, a few things I''ll keep focusing on are:
1. Stop being soft
2. Give it way more throttle before releasing the clutch
3. Be smoother on the throttle
4. Be more diligent in looking where I want to go
5. get the front end up way higher, way faster
6. Not underestimating first gear
7. Sit farther back in the seat
Bonus: Attitude is everything. Don't get frustrated & just have fun with it. It ain't that serious.
For my OG subscribers - let me know how you like this vid compared to the others. It's definitely way more raw and loosely structured. I'm still trying to figure out what type of content will be best for this channel.

Keep the content coming! I always tell myself “care less about my personal safety and the cosmetics of the bike” before I practice wheelies. 😂
This is a good mantra 😂
Your clutch probably just got hot!
Also, sit further back like you stated in the desc...
- 2nd Gear is money
-Pop up the wheel and slam it down with the rear brake, that'll get the muscle memory going
- try shift-locking, helps you feel more secure on the bike
- try looking past the wheel/forks, don't stare the bike. I've learned you can judge how far back you're going better and it helped me start dropping back a lot easier.
You'll get there man, it's all seat time!
Wym with shift locking ?
@@rudolf310 you shift up and hold the lever up with your foot. It helps you lock in and it’s really used for one handers or no handers but it does help you in regular wheelies too.
the drz clutches are more than strong enough to survive that mini lot sesh with those baby clutch ups lol, and telling a beginner to shift lock is absolutely crazy advice
@@ItsTheBroski24 sounds bad for shift forks
It wasn’t like one lot sesh wore out a new clutch haha I’ve been beating on the bike for a few years almost daily 😂
Brazillian here - keep up working on those skills Bro, you're on the right track and state of mind, awesome channel and rad content 🔥
Well i guess we are getting clutch related videos now! it's refreshing to see someone showing the amount of tries it takes to do some stuff. Good stuff dude!🤟
Thanks man! 🙏
Bro has immaculate music taste
Thx bro 🔥
@@ReflectSM you got a playlist?
@@sussysimon link in the description is the tracks I’ve used in vids. I don’t have any other mixes atm but I’ll make some in the future!
As I was about to comment about buying new gloves.... lol cracked me up.
those are not bike gloves they wont do a thing when they hit the asphalt
Great editing! I'm at about the same level, had a scary moment this morning, I went past the balance point in second gear, while trying to push my limits. Rolled off the throttle but it kept leaning back, brake saved it thankfully. Keep up the great content!
Hell yeah man! Feels good to have that muscle memory 💪
You're lucky I didn't practice breaking when I was up and I went past the balance point a month ago going to job I had to take my day off 🤣😅luckly I dressed for the slide not for the ride but I had to go to the hospital just for my finger my nail was lifting a bit since my gloves were a bit chewed I had 2 stitches on my finger but I was back on the bike a week after the bike and I almost didn't have any damage plastics were undamaged just the front and rear fender a bit but side plastics were fine I bought new handguards my last one were destroyed and clutch lever was bend and broke off I'll learn when I get a bit more confident but i'mma stay away from wheelies for a bit not that i'm scared just wanna baby my bike and not drop it on pavement again 🤣 My suit is ready for a few crash hopefully not but it's still in great shape for a about 50km/h crash looked a bit dumb to go to job to say ''hey i'm taking my day off I did stupid stuff'' (crashed 1km away from my job no one saw me) shameful but it'S a part of the experience stay safe and keep up the practice 😉
lost my nail a week ago and it seems like it'S growing back again (they told me there were chances of it not growing back) still it's not like I lost my finger so I don't mind if it doesn't grow back
@@LoneWolfEnglish Glad it was only minor injuries! I never really practiced using the rear brake, but I used to wheelie mountain bikes for ages so I know the feeling of going past balance point, every fiber in my body was telling me I was free-falling and thankfully I thought about stamping on the brake. I'll keep launching the wheelies and bringing it to 90% balance point for a while until I'm used to it. I only do a couple wheelies a day though I don't want to stress the bike before the big service.
@@LoneWolfEnglish And it's not shameful at all! That's why wheelies are fun and considered cool by some of us. There is a risk involved and a lot of dedication until you master that art. Just dont rip fast wheelies in residential areas, those aint cool 😅
You’re getting there man ! It’s all a mental game . Pretty much when the forks are parallel to the ground is bp . I remember doing probably hundreds if not thousands of clutch ups before I started getting them down. Don’t focus on distance when learning just have the ft brake as a reflex and use it every wheelie and you’ll start bringing it higher every time.
Nice to get a reminder of how many tries it takes! You’re right though, doing a slow 1st gear wheelie at balance point is much better practice than a long power wheelie
I love this style of content man! you show the reality of learning these things. I admire your mindset
I was in your position for a LONG time. The best advice that really clicked with me was someone told me the balance point was the forks being parallel to the ground. If you focus on that you begin to see you're nowhere near going over backwards! 😅
Enjoy the wheelie journey and just keep at it! It’s all seat time. Once you get it you won’t stop doing them all the time. At least you get to upgrade the clutch now too haha. Great content man.
Thanks man! Seat time is #1 💪
Love seeing the progression man. I plan to start a channel when I finally pull trig and get a bike. Planning out a trip to try on helmets and get some gear. And then everything else should snowball after that. Much love man. I really enjoy the content.
Sick man! Let me know when you start up the channel and I’ll check it out fs 🫡🔥
I been loving the the style of the previous videos and this video too. I personally don't see alot of people making videos like these but ay it's cool you are.
Thanks bro I appreciate that 🙏
As someone who is learning wheelies this type of video helped a lot! Keep the videos coming your super talented brotha
Loving your videos man, keep it up!
As a side note - you're really making me want to trade my grom for a DRZ
Haha thanks! That might be a decent trade bro 😂
I really enjoy your style man. The edits are excellent. You seem really comfortable on camera. The bike is cool. Keep em coming!
It’s tough learning, but will totally be worth it. I’m in the same boat right now so I really enjoyed this vid. It really showed what it’s like.
Hell yea dude. Shit takes time for sure, but we’ll all get there.
PLEASEEEE come back. your videos are amazing. i love them
@@daxrides haha thanks bro, I’m still here - just busy with other career stuff plus it’s full on winter here now :( but more vids are still on my mind every day!!
@@ReflectSM Yo this is some amazing production! I love the style, and as another guy said. Dont drown yourself in the numbers, enjoy making videos. You got a new fan!
Much love from Sweden.
I never comment on anything but I felt an urge to tell you to keep it up. I really enjoy your videos.
Dude, awesome start! god format good quality, neat graphic style... just keep going! don't drown yourself on the numbers. just enjoy the production and have fun!

You got a really special and beautiful way of editing. your music taste is fire. Love your content keep it up
Yo these vids are so fiyah the shots the editing all so good crazy that this is a new channel goodluck with it
Found your channel a few months back and started following but missed this vid for some reason. I live in the Ottawa area and ride a DRZ sm as well, in fact that Canadian tire is not that far from my house lmao.
Keep up the great videos man, look forward to seeing more from you when riding season starts back up!
@@gardnersage2106 Thanks man I’m glad you like the channel! Send me a DM on IG and we can ride this summer
looking forward to new videos. honestly some really refreshing moto content
Wheely exciting demonstration, man!! 😅 And the mix of music, retro vid fx, and funny clips brings about that lively balance point between nervy excitement and relaxing calmness. Well done and inspiring. *Maybe some gymkhana / running around cones with the DRZ would be an exciting demo, too. - 🪖👍🏽
Wheelies are my nemesis! I feel you!
Great video, gotta actually get out and work on my wheelies now too lol
I havent had to do the clutch on my DRZ yet, but if its as easy as other dirtbikes, i dont think itll give you too much trouble
Thanks man. I’m not worried about the clutch. Not expensive and these bikes are simple. 🤷🏻♂️
I love your editing sytle plz keep it up!!!
Incredible quality man, keep it going
Find a gentle uphill stretch for practice, it'll help.
I agree. Way easier, just hard to find around any slopes around here lol
#1 thing is make sure ur cable is adjusted correctly, if ur cable is too tight its applying pressure on the push rod which releases spring tension on ur clutch pack, which would very much so will induce clutch slip at high rpm, me and my buddies had abusive lot days on our drz’s and same stock clutch at 25k miles
First thing I checked too lol
I got a new Dr650 earlier this year just to get better at wheelies. I was where your are about a month ago, im not good but all the major progress i got was when i was scared. Gotta have balls, been riding for 5 years, and i have had some wild progress on this bike.
Also, clutch up in second, it is faster but way more controllable.
Can't be frustrated with progression dude!
as someone who doesn't know how to wheelie, this is cool
Very cool seeing your progress
Thoroughly enjoy your content and you vibe. Im subbing and hope to see more of you! Your great!!!
@@jonoze247 thanks dude! Trying to make time to upload more stuff soon 🤞
I literally just bought a drz and want to fully rebuild mine , so a clutch replacement video would be great 😂😂
love the canada channel, keep the vids coming man
Thanks! Will do!
Keep up the good work bro love the videos!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
This spot looks dope. I live out in the country and everywhere I go that's good and straight there's people and where there is no people there could be people running 80 pop around a curve lol
Hell yeah keep going!
Won’t quit 🫡
goated editing and goated content i aint good at wheelies either its ok dude
Thanks dude! Really appreciate it 🔥
Really enjoyed this video!
this is my dream bike
Bro sounds like Sam sulek on a motorcycle holy heck hahahah excellent video man love the vibe
Haha I got nothing on him. Bro is wise beyond his years
@ReflectSM hahaha same vocab and voice though! Which is neat 😂
clutch needs a little more slack at the lever cable
Good luck bro, i think its hard for middle class adults to learn how to wheely, from my own experience. Need to do it young when you have no fear, or just keep tryin.
@@mmmmmmmmmmm10 Well said man 😂
Clutch didn't like those clutch-ups just as much as you didnt lmao
I’m definitely not gentle on this bike 💀
@@ReflectSM I beat the hell out of my KLR ;)
damn, surprised your clutch gave out... bought a 06' 400sm with 30 000 km~ learned balance point and shifting up/down up till 50 000km when I did a engine rebuild because one of the crank bearings gave out...
I nearly ordered new clutch but decided to measure it first, was shocked to see it was barely worn even after those 20k km of pretty frequent clutch wheelies. Maybe I was lucky and I guess when you first start learning you do a lot more clutch dumps in a shorter timespan.
luckily the clutch is easy to get to on a drz 😀can relate to you reaction of first time feeling balance point, I think you're hooked 😂
I had to replace my first clutch pack after only 2k miles on the dr650. Although everyone and their wife rode that thing the first couple thousand miles. New clutch made it to 15k miles and still going strong.
Man i was tilting my head back the entire time trying to get the wheelie up. Im debating getting a drz to practice slower stuff and just hoon around town but living in the countryside makes me uneasy about long distance with it
Big f on the clutch lol…great content though and the wheelies are looking sick
Thanks dude 🙏🙏
Delayed gratification, so edging got it.
Finally, someone gets it.🫡
Beauty.
From which year is the bike brother? and howmany km's do you have on it? Love the vids btw just watched all 3 of them. subbed for new content aswell ofc!
Hello man congrats for your great videos. I want to know what are your thoughts about the new drz400 that is coming out. Im thinking to buy one of those
I always go off to the side when I try and wheelie
@@scrapmanindustries lower your rear tire pressure a little
F**king legendary!
Better wheelies then mine I can barely get it up past 45° whenever I ride I make shure to do a few practice wheelies
I find going out for a full session dedicated to wheelies helps. When I just did them occasionally you never really feel warmed up
What bike is that
Wanna learn wheelies bad on my duke 390, but so scared of dropping it... a sumo is allot more drop proof
Yeah if I had a bike with more plastic/fairings I’d definitely invest in a cage
Holy crap! @9:50 did I just watch you walk into a servo with a helmet on? Must be a US thing haha. Have you tried that same manoeuvre in a bank as well?
@@asecret900 I’m Canadian bro 🇨🇦 (I robbed the gas station after this video)
i do it all the time in vic, no one really cares lol
There are parts of the US where that would absolutely get you arrested. It really depends. Clearly Canadians are more chilled out about stuff like that, thankfully.
Ohhh if you make another video like this have the camera on the top of your helmet so we can see how your working the clutch as well
w song
your videos have really nice vibe
a suggestion: remove the entro, intro concept is kind of outdated nowdays
smokedope ima smoke til im dying
New vid soon?
Please still be alive
@@kadinphanthadeth6653 still here, just winter! 💀😂
you keep leaving your arms bent lock them out (fully extended) its scary at first but it keeps you upper body weight further back and you rely alot less on power to keep the bike up.
This ^ is a great piece of advice bro. Fs need to start doing that
Nice to see other people ripping in the Ottawa area if you need some help with the clutch hit me up
Thanks bro. I’ll be all good for the clutch but say hi if you ever see me around 🫡

I haven’t but I’ll check him out
YOOO LET ALOT OF AIR OUT OF YOUR BACK TIRE AN START YOUR WHEELIE OFF AT A SLOWER SPEED AROUND 10/15MPH
PRACTICE ON A STEEP HILL ! ITS A FALSE BALANCE POINT YOU WOULD FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE REMEMBERING TO USE THE BACK BRAKE
I think it's a wheelie tutorial
I gotta say, I do live in Colorado so my opinion may be biased but god damn man, you must find some better vistas. Soooooooooo Flat!
I know bro 😭 out west rn and it’s just so much better lmao
CGI....?
All animated wheelies bro 🤷🏻♂️
