The Assassination of Malcolm X: Ex-Undercover Officer Admits Role in FBI & Police Conspiracy

  • The FBI and New York Police Department are facing renewed calls to open their records into the assassination of Malcolm X, after the release of a deathbed confession of a former undercover NYPD officer who admitted to being part of a conspiracy targeting Malcolm. In the confession, Raymond Wood, who died last year, admitted he entrapped two members of Malcolm’s security team in another crime - a plot to blow up the Statue of Liberty - just days before the assassination. This left the Black civil rights leader vulnerable at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem, where he was fatally shot on February 21, 1965. Raymond Wood’s cousin Reggie Wood, who released the confession last week at a press conference, tells Democracy Now! his cousin’s involvement in the plot haunted him for much of his life. “Ray was told by his handlers not to repeat anything that he had seen or heard, or he would join Malcolm,” says Reggie Wood. “He trusted me enough to reveal this information and asked me not to say anything until he passed away, but at the same time not to allow him to take it to his grave.”

The DOJ was just caught sending him payments equaling ATLEAST $400,000 to preach hate speech to Black Men in prisons.
There’s no telling how many other departments are paying him as well.

In his affidavits Hayer named four men, all members of the Nation of Islam's Newark, New Jersey, Temple Number 25, as having participated with him in the crime. Hayer asserted that a man he knew as "Wilbur" or "Kinly", later identified as Wilbur McKinley, shouted and threw a smoke bomb to create a diversion. Hayer said that a man named "Willie", later identified as William Bradley, had a shotgun and was the first to fire on Malcolm X after the diversion. There was Malcolm Little, the lost civilian, (the making of Malcolm X), Malcolm X, (the soldier and minister for the N.O.I) and finally El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz and his organizations, the Islamic Muslim Mosque Inc. and the Organization of Afro American Unity, which was intentionally secular. Malcolm himself, welcomed the aid of whites, though he did not allow them to join. His quest, similar to Dr Martin Luther King and Fred Hampton, spread beyond civil rights to human rights. El-Hajj Malik El-Sabazz, was working on taking his case for human right violations against the United States of America, to the United Nations during the time when colonized nations of color were gaining their independence, thus had a vote as members of the United Nations (one nation, one vote), in which the western powers were outnumbered vote wise. It’s important to note Fred Hampton, because he as well as Dr. King were aligning themselves with white organizations to fight poverty and the exploitation of the poor ill regardless of race. The common theme between all three were, poor, disenfranchised people at the grassroots being united on their common plights. Think on it Mr. Lucas. State power relies largely on the ignorance and division of it’s subjects, especially the poor, working poor, middle-class, and ignorant/self serving “rich” (most are not immune to the wrath of the state themselves). I can see why FBI acting as little brother to the CIA in JFK and RFK. Less so wrt MLK who I can't see being a direct threat to their 'natiional security''as he was not likely to be president. Just a thorn in the flesh. As far as M-X is concerned, again more a pain to then. These agencies seemed to be more radical after killing JFK as they needed less tangible reasons for a hit.

@MD JG No. The animosity between Malik El Shabazz and the NOI was quite real, and not just some simple fabrication by the FBI. If you believe that, you diminish Malik's intelligence and his legacy. There were genuine ideological differences between the two, and Louis Farrakhan himself has spoken on Malik's public denunciation of Elijah Muhammad as being punishable by death, and it doesn't take a grand imagination to understand how the more extreme members of NOI were thinking worse.
