I know of an american student who studied abroad in France, and their host mom worried she would have to buy McDonald's every day for the student. This host mom also openly admitted to this student that she was disappointed she had gotten an American student, and she really wanted a Japanese one. This is not satire in the international community, there are legitimately people who think like this.
As an American who hasn’t had McDonald’s since 2010 this is hilarious to me. Also, the only reason I remember THAT meal is that it was so unusual at the time for me to eat at McDonald’s anyway: it was a desperation meal at 2am because it was the only thing open on a tollway in Indiana; I was moving cross country and had forgotten to eat for over 24 hours with all the chaos of packing my apartment and obviously having an empty refrigerator. I would have preferred some nuts or cheese but the convenience store was closed (pay at pump only) so McDonald’s it was; it was barely edible and I only ate half of it despite being famished. I’m not an extremist about clean eating (I eat chips and things) but I really don’t understand McDonald’s.
What you imply is that there are people thinking otherwise. This is very wrong presumption, I should assure you. Just note that he is constantly speaking about 'Murica' in the same time he means USA. Yes, they are so dum6.
My best advice to people coming to the US to visit is to just pick one place that interests you You don't want to spend your whole vacation in a car or other transportation. Unless you are taking an extended vacation.
In college I took German and my teacher was an Austrian woman teaching the class as a part of her Master's program. Once when some of us got to class early we asked her if there was anything that surprised her about America, and she said she was surprised at how many pan handlers she saw. She said you don't see that in Germany and Austria, people standing on street corners begging for change. It's not that they don't have poverty, it's that it doesn't work. Nobody stands around begging for change because it's a waste of time, nobody gives them anything. It struck her as a testament to the generosity of people here that someone could actually reasonably expect to get free money from strangers just for asking.
Well, I went to the US, and honestly I was choked by the number of people living in a tent in the street. Like it's normal. We do have some people like that in my country as well, but it is a minority. We have associations and people that try to help homeless people. We have the state providing a bit of money and we have free healthcare, even for homeless people. Way less people live under the poverty line in my country, in term of percentage.
@@michealdrake3421 I have been to New York, Boston, Charlotte, Buffalo, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, and a bunch more cities. Without exception there was terrible poverty and homelessness in the city centers. Sure, there were definitely people helping them. Especially in the more evangelical states there were Christian organisations. But it pales in comparison to what is done in Europe to help homeless people out. In my country, the Netherlands, you’re genuinely only homeless after a million of extremely poor life decisions. In the USA you’re homeless if you’re a veteran with mild PTSD who broke a leg and couldn't afford the medical bill…
@@tsaoh5572not to come off as rude but your entire country is essentially the size of the city of Los Angeles. And it’s super homogeneous. It’s not all like this. Not everyone has the money to have fast food for dinner every day, and the beauty standards mean that a lot of people don’t eat like this. Also… New York, Miami, and Los Angeles are thousands of miles apart. A drive from California to Colorado- not even half that distance- can take an upwards of 18 hours depending on the traffic.

New York and California homeless issues are very different.
Dude, it’s in every city. And they continue to be blamed for their circumstances despite the high instances of undiagnosed or untreated mental illness (including addiction, sometimes due to self medicating those illnesses) which is a medical problem and not a moral one.
Sadly the trend today is more folks are temporarily unhoused due to being priced out of rent (forget even thinking about a mortgage) thanks to gigantic corporations owning regal properties and driving up home values.

Not the thinking people.
Honestly, thinking she’d have to buy McDonald’s everyday is probably worse than actually eating it everyday
That's... sadly also accurate lol
What you imply is that there are people thinking otherwise. This is very wrong presumption, I should assure you. Just note that he is constantly speaking about 'Murica' in the same time he means USA. Yes, they are so dum6.

"Along the way I drive past crippling poverty and homelessness. I will do nothing about it" this is true though
@@Alexielios It depends on where you are. Poverty rates and the resources available to help can vary wildly between states and cities.
