- Max had his nails done. he was a lot calmer this time. he did get car sick like he normally does. buy he was good for the doctor and she only had to chase him for a few seconds. he didn't even yell at her.
she had neck surgery a few weeks ago and is on lite duty for work, but she said she would do his nails since she knew how to handle him.
today he is all back to normal.

Thanks Dan for letting us see before, during, and after clips, it shows even better all the things both you and Max go through for these trips to the vet. Max was definitely calmer on the before part than in previous years, seemed like the only thing that really flustered him was having to be toweled to be put in the cage, lol. Sorry to hear he still gets sick on the car ride part, but sure perks up again when he gets home. At least now he is all fixed up for several weeks, and the next time he has to go it will be cooler weather out. It is interesting to see the whole process, from start to finish. I think that closure piece makes us all feel better. We love our boy so much that thinking of him getting ill, affects us.

@@rhondaz356 That has always been my trick for getting through difficult times is to keep my mind locked on what it will be like after the task is completed, it has always worked for me, lol .. I have one friend who found a way to make vet visits easier for him and his bird .. he always took the bird to PetSmart afterwards to buy a new toy, so his bird began to associate the car ride not just with the vet experience but also with the pleasant toy buying experience, it definitely helped although I don't know if it would work with all parrots. Our poor boy getting sick...😪 We needed to see that he was chipper, and galloping around upon his return home. Max is like a toddler going through the terrible twos only in bird form, he's gorgeous though.

Max knew the vet was recuperating from surgery and decided to be gentle with her. Well, his form of gentle. 😘 😆

Also, my parrot hated the carrier until I switched to a different style- not enclosed like that one, but just a tiny cage- style carrier.
He loves it and will go in any time.

When Max talks in that low voice and Dan just keeps answering him like it all makes sense, I’m smiling the whole time. That conversation between them is almost always my favorite part of each video. Grandma talks to Max like that too. Max always pauses to wait for a response just like two hoomans would chat. It’s adorable 🥰. If I was the vet, I’d be thrilled to get my paws on Mr. Max who after all is a celebrity bird 🤩.
It’s great that vet day is over for a while and our boy made it home in good spirits. After all, Dan is the one who has to clean up any messes not Max hehe.
I still can’t get over Max hiding in the corner and laughing when Dan couldn’t find him! Now that deserves an Emmy or America’s Funniest Videos award or something. Maybe it’s just me?

A thought, re car sick pets. My Cocker Spaniel/Beagle had gotten car sick until we'd gotten a four-inch-thick piece of squishy foam for him to sit/sleep on in the car. After that, Shandy had stopped getting sick. (1984-1999)
