- In October 2021, we played Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique at the Southbank Centre, conducted by Edward Gardner. Here’s a moment from the hair-raising fifth movement, Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath.

My youngest son Bart, started walking to this, his first steps in life.
AMAZING.
ABSOLUTEMENT.
Yep.
Bravo de Goiás Love this Brasil
I remember my crackhead conductor made me play these cello lines on a euphonium at 14. Good times!
I'm a percussionist in the symphony that I'm in, we're working on it right now. Yeah... rest in piece to both you back then, and our cellists now
Go, low brass! I promise to come and see the LPO in the flesh (and shiny metal) next time I holiday in London.
Make sure you come on a night when the choir (London Philharmonic Choir) is singing, for a real treat!
@@hilarybates1921 Hilary, thanks. I notice that the LPO and Choir are performing the Dream of Gerontius at the BBC Proms on 31 August. I'll definitely be glued to my radio at least (from my holiday on the Isle of Bute!).

@3:10 is when my favorite part is. Such incredible artistry. Bravo!
gotta love the ophicleide
Everything here as it should be?.....No?...That's what reminding is for
@@tealc6218 what the hell are you saying? English must not be your first language
Mine too
Mourinho conducts the symphony
This is so classical... and modern at the same time.
Is there a link to the whole performance?
Authentic bells at 2:49 ! BRAVO
Amazing recording quality! I know the Bernstein version has the most views on TH-cam, but the detail is squashed to pieces by the compression. Thank you!
E-flat clarinet, represent! 😁
He sure does beat up on that Dies Irae.
Yea I know! I would say it’s the classical motif I’m most sick of

Bravo to E. Gardner!
Spooky!
It’s even spookier when you know the story of this symphony
Almost Iron Man @ 3:44
Bravo!
Eh, not including the low part for the tuba at 3:00 makes the piece sound incomplete
