Hey Jeremy you need to check the rear axle outter bearings. The Crown Vic 8.8 tend to eat the axle shafts. They don't always leak oil right away. So just raise the tire off the ground check like a ball joint. Pry bar under the tire method. I work on a of fleet police cars and around 80k they start failing. Especially if they been use in driver training. They tend to not make much noise either. I guarantee Cleetus has a bunch of damage axles on those Freedom Factory cars.

Those fuel rails are supposed to have straps that bolt onto the intake in the stock rail mounting points and go over the top of the rails to hold them down. By the way if it was me I'd go with a trick flow track heat intake or a edelbrock vic Jr efi and use their elbow and bigger TB.
Porting works really well on the heads as we all know but Port matching to the gasket you're using is going to be your best option 4 equals flow We all know if you don't Port match that stumbles the fuel which causes hesitations

Jeremy, for intake options you're kinda limited. Your best bet is the ADTR.net edelbrock Victor Jr manifold swap kit. Comes with the adapter plate to run s standard style throttle body elbow and comes with fuel rails and brackets.
The porting talk is awesome. Maybe something about head milling, head gasket thickness, and compression ratio vs octane rating in the future? Also curious on your thoughts on people taking the new gen V direct injected engines and converting them to port injection.
Good 2V I takes are limited to only to the 99-04 Mustangs plastic Ford Mo Co and the 01 Bullet aluminum Intake. Aftermarket Tickflow has a nice aluminum intake for the 2v and lastly the Edelbrock

Jeremy, the dorman intakes are junk as you already know, I recommend sticking with OEM, it's labeled Ford Racing intake manifold, there's a few places online but I picked mine up from ADTR.net, they have a ton of parts for panther cars!! Check em out bro!
sounds like you want to do a PI swap from an 99-04 mustang , ive not seen it done before but ive seen a bunch of forums about that. you may need an upgraded plenum and throttle body along with it. i put a Professional Product intake on my 2v mustang and its noticeably better than stock and its plastic also

the plastic ones are bad for cracking around the front water port, it happen to my mustang an crown vic, seem like they make a a different one that has that section aluminum but i cant remember now. i traded the mustang around the same time it cracked so i never repaired it an the crown vic we just took one off another from the junk yard so it was identical to what we took off, but i do remember they guy who ended up with my mustang saying he fixed it an it was mostly plastic except for the front part where the water port cracks. i may be wrong but i know i would avoid the plastic ones cause its kinda a known issue with them.

The Ford crown Victoria intakes are pretty cheap now through Ford. The earlier 2008 range have the newer PI intake which flows pretty good. Not sure if that's a PI or nonPI motor I'd find out and see.

The Ford Performance one is the OEM/“best”. Dorman has small intake runners and you lose power like you mentioned.

As for intake ford racing pi intake. Idk if you got pi heads or nonpi heads. Pi heads or trickflow heads would be a nice upgrade

velocity is what can potentially spool a large turbo quicker. when you get good head.
