    Gladius is probably the single most underrated TBS. Me and my friend would play (it is two players) that game as a drinking game. Anyone who didn't land their crit had to take a sip of beer. We did actually beat the game, too. It is a brilliantly thought out game, and it's super fun to build up all the different unit types. There are also ways to recruit special units along the way. The story, imo, is excellent.

    Gladius was such a great game. I remember playing it on a coach with 2 friends.

    I don't know how forgotten it is, but I love Shining Force (1 & 2). Also a big fan of Wargroove 1, Advanced Wars, & Valkyria Chronicles. Mario vs. Rabbids did an amazing job of distilling the Xcom formula into an incredibly approachable but still deep enough for me tactics game.

    Thumbs up for mentioning ‘Advance Wars’ and ‘Brigandine’ 👍

    Wasn't Fire Emblem Thracia 776 a Japan-only game? so anybody who played it in English was playing a fan-translated version, which I guess means downloaded from a specialist website? So is the same true of any of the other games discussed here, or were the others all English-language releases through mainstream outlets? (Physical, or digital-only?)

    • @JoelRPG
      @JoelRPG  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      yes Thracia 776 is the only one that need fan translated version.

    There might be some hope for many of console titles to get a second chance. As a hardcase pc player I see one positive thing in washed out game industry that instead of pushing boudaries, lately do all manners of remakes. The way I see it PC players are more strategy game focused that all consoles combined, and above trend gives a second life for many excellent strategy games that were previously console exclusives. Both Valkyria Chronicles titles that were published on PC were very warmly welcomed by pc players, so did combat mission remakes among many other examples.

    lol are you serious.... Final fantasy tactic a2 not as good as the first one? Did you actually play the game? A2 is wayyyyy better. The only thing better in a1 is the story. A2 has better gameplay, skill and jobs. The story is longer, side mission and boss fight are nice. A2 is simply better game than A1. It improve on the original.

      You misunderstood what i'm saying maybe? Cause i literally said it's not as good as the original fftactics (the war of the lions or the ps1/gba version). And i also literally said, its better than the A1.

    Wargroove is NOT a forgotten game as it's getting a sequel and pretty much everyone have played it due to it being on all modern platforms

      I loved the first game, but I'm not enjoying the sequel. I hate how the main campaign is a bunch of tactics puzzles, where I can't buy whatever units I want to customize my army. It went from being an open, build the army you want game to a tedious you must solve it this way experience. But, I haven't seen anyone else complain about it, so maybe it gets better or I'm missing something.
