  • this song is a very special and weird song I co-created with one of my best friends Mauro (who is also drumming in the song)
I want to thank Mauro, my crazy partner in crime, PETITBAZARTS, Noa, Vincence, Luna, Finke, Kaat and myself for it
This was the second night we played our set list made from original songs of our own in front of a public
This song is born from a task where Mauro and I had exactly one hour to create "repetitive Gregorian ballet music". We immediately created an eery sound, with the idea of just singing deus repetitio which are Latin words, with the same tribal percussion and Gitar riff coming back again making it repetitive, but also giving the Gregorian vibe. We were very satisfied and had the feeling we created something new and great.
Then a few weeks later, we worked on it for an extra hour because our teacher thought it had potential; we were supposed to find new parts for the song like verses, but we ended up finding instrumental outros and interludes haha giving it a more melancholic vibe.
We reflected about what this song meant for us, and what we wanted it to be.
For both of us it was clear that it was a song talking about the absurdity of life seen from the human point of view; so said the absurdity of human perception on its own life. Deus Repetitio actually means "a repetitive god", the same things happening over again, the cycle of things, the nonsense of things. In the end, we were able to find lyrics for our verses which are written in Flemish.
I wouldn't say it's a pessimistic or pretentious song because we don't take ourselves so seriously when we play it or even when we were creating it.
thank you for reading and watching/listening :)
