      Im rolling up on 200k now and not skipping a beat. Although I am considering finding a low mileage WR Blue pearl BRZ to replace it with. Just for the sake of switching it up a little.

      @@Autowillhave you had any oil leaking/seeping from the front of the engine on the timing cover? I've read it's very common on these boxer engines but not sure how serious of a problem it is. I have a 2013 BRZ and it looks like there's a tiny bit of oil seeping at only 84k miles. I wonder if mine will make it 200k...

    • @Autowill
      @Autowill  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@goobyplease8086 It could be the timing cover, but I'd also make sure you dont spill oil when filling the engine with oil because it will make you think you have a leak. Could be valve cover gaskets also. I've not experienced any oil leaks with mine even at 205k miles now, other than at 105k mark I had to change the cam plate because it was leaking. No problems since.

    hey man, it’s been a year and i was curious how it’s been holding up! i was looking to buy one with 130k miles

    • @Autowill
      @Autowill  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hell mine is at 205k miles hasn't skipped a beat. Although I will say I always used 5w30 oil and for the last year 10w30. In the operator manual for the car it states to use heavier weight oil if you plan to drive the car hard. Iv'e ran 5w30 since the day I drove off the lot with 88k miles on it. I would not be afraid to buy one with 130k at all.

    Do you have any protective mod? like oil cooler?

    • @Autowill
      @Autowill  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, Im at 200k miles now, and I used 5w30 when I got the car and now I use 10w30. In the owners manual it states to use heavier weight oil when the car is driven at higher speeds or the engine is under heavy load. I haven't been easy on the FRS either and its never been a problem. Im just now about to start modifying it at 200k miles. I have KYB shocks and skunk 2 springs on the way and an exhaust system. These old FA20 engines have proven to be better than the FA24 or whatever is in the latest 86/BRZ as far as engine lubrication goes. Just an FYI.

    • @Vinny_Tang
      @Vinny_Tang ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Autowill That's impressive. I'm still using 0w20 because it's still in 5year warranty. I do autocross and drifting almost every week, I think I am gonna get an oil cooler and switch to 5w30 soon. I hope I can make it to 150k miles lol.

    i saw one for 200k miles is that pushing it?

    • @Autowill
      @Autowill  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Depends on who owned the car. As long as the engine doesn't make any funny sounds, the transmission shifts as it should, and it doesn't have any bad leaks I'd say your good. I just wouldn't pay over 10k for it regardless of its cosmetic condition.
