    Bakersfield August 2024:
This town has grown into a small city, crime is down, jobs are up, and the homeless are being ushered off our streets, bike lanes are here and more is coming.
I call Bakersfield; The Jewel of the Desert, why?
High Speed Rail is Coming, a new Indian Casino/Hotel coming late 2025 30 miles south of town and housing is booming. I came from southern Cal Coast because of the cost of living since retiring I play Golf twice a month, ride ebikes with family and visitors, Swimming night and day and fine dining Petroleum Club and out. I find that Bakersfield is a great place for retirement.
Also the Kern River offers lots of activities and parks/wildlife.
The best side is the Westside, it's the newer part of town lots of new homes and communities. Just don't tell anybody about us ok?
Just Kidding Come Join Us if you love our San Joaquin Valley!❤❤❤❤😂😂😂
    FYI
HOT 2-3 months a year but not like Palm Springs or Las Vegas.

We moved to Bakersfield in 1990, the population was 174,000. We had a new home built for 120000. In Stockdale area. Lived there for 11yrs. Worked at Kern Medical Center, Mercy and Heart Hospital. Ppl called it the arm pit of CA. I loved Bakersfield and the ppl. I still have friends there. To ppl who have nothing nice to stay about Bakersfield. Stay in the shit hole where you live. Im born and raised here in Bako. Its not too bad. There definitely has been an increase in the homeless and petty crime, but nothing crazier than ur average city. Just stay away from Oildale, cottonwood, and the east side and u should be fine lol. These areas are the worst in town. Rosedale and Stockdale are the more desirable / "uppedy" areas. It gets really hot in the summer tho. We get pretty bad heat waves in the hundreds and sometimes in the 110's that can last for weeks at at time. But our fall/winters are good. It never gets too cold so its more like really fresh springs
