I'm not familiar with most storm chasers, but the ones who start hysterically screaming and yelling at others to get back in the car and such drive me nuts. You can tell they're doing it as an act. If they were that genuinely scared it'd be the last time they ever went storm chasing.
You're a genuinely good-to-the-core human being in the same kind of way Mr. Rogers was, and that is a high compliment. By the way, have you ever thought about posting the unedited, long, raw footage of a chase? I would definitely enjoy watching 30, 45, 60 min+ of continuous, non-sped-up footage of a single chase. Videos like that make the viewer feel as though they're along for the ride. Thanks again for being an awesome human being.

My mom was killed by a drunk driver when I was 15, I was in the car when she drew her last breath and my dad died 8 years later. I was a single dad of 2 now grown young men, it was hard to the fact that I deprived myself of many things (sometimes including food) so that they never went hungry and so that they had everything they not necessarily wanted but needed. This is my favorite storm chasing channel of all. Not only is the video quality top notch here, but there is more depth too... allowing us to see some of the other sights on the roads that a chaser comes across (wildlife, wild people, and wild music). And the focus on other weather phenomenon (especially lightning) adds another dimension beyond just tornadoes. Plus it's all edited together so nicely, with Hank's original music providing a wonderful score to the breathtaking footage. Too many other channels give us shaky videos with overly-excited people shouting that there's a tornado on the ground. Thanks for the great videos, Hank, and best wishes for a great chase in 2017!
And best of all is his ultra-cool demeanor even when he "get's a little too close." No annoying screaming, crying, begging God for help, and just in general being repugnant. You are one smooth dude Hank, I love your stuff!
8:56 to 10:48 is just mesmerizing. the music is perfect, it shows the entire lifetime of the tornado which is probably the most beautiful ive ever seen, tied in with the time-lapse at the end is just so well done. It gives me the best vibes ever. Period. I find myself being able to watch videos from Pecos Hank that were from a long time ago again and again because they are just so entertaining. Good job hank, even though this is from 2016.
Thanks for the kind words about parents, I have two toddlers and a third bubba on the way. I’m lying in bed with morning sickness watching your beautiful videos, they blow me away and just help me get my mind off the tiredness. Thank you for that! Your mum sounds like a total hero, hope your dad is resting in peace.
I know I'm a bit late but I just want to say that your mother sounds amazing! And if you are as good of a person as you appear to be here on TH-cam, she did a great job raising you! :) All the best to you and your family from Switzerland, where we mainly have mountains instead of tornadoes ;)
Same here from the same country; what you got in tornadoes, we got in avalanches and hailstorms. Also, my most heartfelt respect towards your mom; I wish someday I might become such a great and devoted person, too.
Hey Hank, I am just working my way through your catalog, and I have to say, your photography is simply gorgeous. Framing, lighting, editing, the perfect blend of science, art, and being a daredevil. Thank you for bringing these beautiful and terrifying images and videos to the public.
Your Mom did good ! I truly enjoy watching your productions- whether they be tornadoes or music or critters. Your photography/video and editing skills are world class. I think that one stovepipe stunned everyone who saw it... just sat there and bragged on it... what a sight. What a year. Thanks for taking the time and effort to package this video for us. Really good stuff.
I have a serious phobia of tornadoes and volcanoes (natural disasters in general mesmerise and terrify me). Your channel helps to expose me to my fear in a safe way. Your voice is so soothing, I love the music and the footage you capture is incredible. Thank you so much for what you do. It's a bucket list item for me to be a passenger on a storm chase with someone like you, and tackle my fear once and for all and change it to a healthy respect.
What kind of snake was that, BTW? Another bull snake? It obviously wasn't venomous given how you walked right up on it with no concern about getting bitten.
You're certainly right about parentage; a lifelong commitment to protect and nurture. That said your dedication to storm chasing in all it's guises certainly shows in the quality of every single upload. You capture the America I love in your segue shots; the pickup truck & wooden outhouse, the humorous signs - "BEWARE OF WELL... JUST BEWARE" I would imagine you qualify for a substantial discount at Juans Windshields seeing as you're such a frequent customer 😂 To summarise; a fantastic review of the 2016 season, visuals, commentary, music and humour on piont as always Hank. Keep bringing us the content we yearn throughout 2017 and above all *stay safe brother*
Pecos Hank, I want to express to you, my gratitude, for making these videos. For your humor, your childlike gleefulness, the research you do, compassion you show, your perspective, amazing cinematography, and most of all....your soundtracks! Best storm videos on the web, hands down. From a fan in North Alabama: keep doing what you do, and doing it your way brother. Aight den....late!
I've never watched a tornado video before. I admit they scare me BUT who would have know they could be so beautiful!! The sky after one passes..just incredible!! You have by far the best video and still shots!
My favourite storm chaser, I'm so glad for this video. It's like the best documentary - ever! Music that goes in the background is so cool, perfectly flowing with picture. Awesome work, as always. Keep it up Hank, and stay safe.
Been binge watching your videos for a few hours now. I'm impressed. Good footage with minimal swearing (means I can watch with my storm loving kids) and fun animal cameos. Subscribed!
You sir, can make me laugh like few others. "A good hailstone can leave you with bad karma. After a small offering to Juan and a 45-minute penance in his waiting room. your good to go again." Just priceless!.

This one right here dude sucked me in emotional I was scared, I was in awe, I was lonely, I was sad, I was thankful to have loved and have been loved. You know how to bring the emotions out of your content. That’s a rare thing. THANK YOU
People in Tornado Alley: *literally just do nothing and go on with our day* Mother Nature: HEY OKLAHOMA, HERE'S A FREAKING TORNADO, BLIZZARD, EARTHQUAKE, FLASH FLOOD, AND JUST FOR FUN, A WILD FIRE!!! People in Oklahoma: *insert surprised Pikachu meme*
Hey Hank, thanks for all your awesome video's! Man, you sure have the best severe weather shots available on the internet!! I love severe weather and all it's phenomena! In 2013 I was driving to Oklahoma when that deadly EF5 struck Moore. What a drama. I didn't get to see this tornado, but I did see the supercell that spawned it develop right in front of me. Spending the night in a hotel in Oklahoma, I talked to 2 little brothers who were in the elementary school that got hit and who lost their home to the tornado. Their story was mind boggling! The next day, driving back to Dallas, I did see the aftermath as well. Unreal! This event, despite being horrific off course, left such a big impression on me that it totally got me into stormchasing. So in June 2016 I came back to the USA, all the way from Holland, for 2 weeks of solo chasing. Allthough June was a pretty quiet month and i didn't get to see an actual tornado, the severe weather I witnessed was mesmerizing and made the 7000 miles driving so worth it! I made a video of my chase and I am pretty proud of it. It's most Gopro and Iphone footage because my Sony camera let me down, but nevertheless I got some great shots. Can you tell me what you think of my video and can you please help me get it some more views maybe? Or maybe you've got some advise for more views? It took me so much effort and I would love to show it to more people. Anyway, your feedback would be highly appreciated!! Please keep in mind that I am an amateur who's pretty new to the game. I hope to be back in the USA in may 2018 for more chasing. Keep up your great work and keep your awesome viedeos coming! Cheers from Holland, Guy th-cam.com/video/kDKbQBwnwhs/w-d-xo.html And this is the video from my improvised chase on may 20th, 2016: th-cam.com/video/a289e0SUmCo/w-d-xo.html
Damn Hank every time you upload a new video it always tops your other ones. From the great photography to the kick ass music your videos are never a letdown. I raised a bowl of cornflakes in your honor for an awesome 2016 tornado season. I wish for the best in 2017 and hope you get another great year!
I literally love all of your videos. Never know if I’m going to get a tornado montage, or a lightning show, or a therapy session with animals. You NEED your own tv show. I’d pay for cable again to watch that show 👌🏻
This is so he doesn't get demonetized. If the autogenerated captions detects words that are blacklisted, there's a chance the video will be demonetized.
I absolutely love this channel. Each video is so interesting and keeps my attention. The narration is great too. Very friendly sounding and entertaining. My whole life I have been interested in Tornadoes. The way they move, why they form, and just how incredible they are to be made by nature. I have never seen one in person before because of where I live. But soon I would like to attempt to see one myself.
I discovered this channel a week ago, and wow is it good! Hank's cool composure and humour combined with the amazinggggg visuals that he records just makes for the most breahtaking TH-cam videos ever. I love it! Also I'd love to point out how fast this channel is growing!!! I subbed a week ago, and he had 863k subs. 7 days later, as I write this, he has 903k subs!? So glad that the TH-cam algorithm is doing what it should be doing. love to see it.
Never tire of seeing the Katie footage. First of all you got me in it (albeit a small yellow blob amongst the trees) but that was my first Tornado I witnessed and I got to see it from birth to death. Now I will have to make do with your videos for this year.
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to study meteorology and chase storms, life got in the way but I love watching these kinds of videos. When I get big storms in my area I'm always out and about recording rainfall and windspeeds and taking pictures.
Pecos Hank has the best tornado/weather videos and this specific video by far is the best of the best. Catching the dreamlike tornadoes, saving the animals and a shout out to his mother. PH's narration and witt compare to none and the quality, editing and timing of the video sets the bar so high, it will probably never be reached by others. Since moving to Texas at the age of 3, I have always had a morbid fascination with tornadoes. I have heard tornado sirens and sought legitimate shelter multiple times but never seen one. I was only 10 miles away from the F5 Jarrell Tornado in 1997 and in 1990 (near Ft Worth) sought shelter in a storage closet in our daycare that sustained damage from a small tornado that went just by us. The chacos and beauty mixed together make for an intoxicating cocktail that lures you in like a fly to bug zapper.
You are an amazing person. Mu son and I watch your tornado videos and he finds them super cool! My husband and I have a daughter on the way soon (Due the 29th of March) even now she kicks at the tornado videos we watch on your channel. I'm gonna have 2 storm chasers on my hands. Thank you for making me feel wonderful for being a parent. I hope you have a wonderful 2017 full of amazing Tornadoes! We will all be watching :)
I will do so. Hopefully you have some more videos up by the time my daughter is born ao I have something to do during labor lol. Thanks for responding! ♡
My son was 4 days late but breech. This one I get to have a normal delivery and I'm cleared to go any day my daughter wants her birthday according to my doctor. Im 34 weeks tomorrow! I cant wait to meet her ♡
I'm going to say this now, I really don't get tornadoes but I saw this funnel yesterday....was huge, but it went away in five minutes and I was relived.
I was living in Garden City, KS at the time. We saw a good-looking storm, had time on our hands and gas was cheap, so we hopped in the car and drove an hour to Leoti. We, along with every other storm chaser, watched it head north. It WAS beautiful! Love your footage.
It's so scary to see the big, dark and scary tornado, but when you turn around or look low enough you can just see the blue skies. Like wtf is up with that, its very eerie
I wonder why they haven't invented some sort of deflector to raise over at least the front windshield to prevent hail damage. Something welded or less permanently attached to the top that be extended and retracted automatically.
Here in Brazil, this phenomenon is starting to become popular, I mean in the sense that they are starting to happen one after the other. What a fantastic job you produced
Hank you are an incredible person, I have been watching your channel for a long time and am utterly obsessed with tornadoes (since I was a kid) I love your videos and you are my favorite go to tornado channel because your videos are always top quality, informative, funny and filled with little snippets of your chase time especially helping animals. I would love to one day tag along chasing with you and I wish you a safe 2017. Finally getting around to watch this video on my birthday was well worth it :)
14:50 In my opinion this makes you a great person. I believe it shows wholeheartedly in your work. Which i enjoy so much i watch again and again and again. So as long as your post videos i will be here to watch them. Thank you stay safe Hank
I think the pilot flying the light airplane at the 1 minute and 55 seconds mark into your video should be awarded a medal for bravery. The Salina Kansas portion of your video is pure art.
It's always good to see you here Craig... and on Facebook. I had to compress several of the scenes twice just to get my MBP to spit out the final export.... No big 4K edits til' after the peak season in July.
Pecos Hank I still can't get over the wind speed at the surface on the Wynnewood, OK tornado. That thing was a grinder when it hit that house and sucked the roof in the vortex!

“I don’t like danger” isn’t a phobia, it is an instinctual response.

The speech at the end about how Parenthood is the truly courageous thing to do was beautiful. I wish I could like a video more than once.
Pecos Hank, I want to express to you, my gratitude, for making these videos. For your humor, your childlike gleefulness, the research you do, compassion you show, your perspective, amazing cinematography, and most of all....your soundtracks! Cheers from Holland, Guy

I literally love all of your videos. Never know if I’m going to get a tornado montage, or a lightning show, or a therapy session with animals. You NEED your own tv show. I’d pay for cable again to watch that show 👌🏻

at 11:08 the sirens sound musical, and it goes perfectly with the epic weather scene.
7:59 turn on the captions: For the first couple hours this supercell lacked the ingredients to drop tomatoes. So after the lights went out...

Thanks for the recap Hank! This year's storms were some of my favourite and I can't wait to see what you'll experience in the 2017 season.
You're welcome Amanda. It might be awhile before we something like last year... AND only 17 deaths all year.
Never tire of seeing the Katie footage. First of all you got me in it (albeit a small yellow blob amongst the trees) but that was my first Tornado I witnessed and I got to see it from birth to death. Now I will have to make do with your videos for this year.
I know right? Glad you got to see it Vinsta.
Amazing. I didn't expect to be hit in the feels at the end there.
Pecos, this video was breathtaking. The quality was excellent. Keep doing what you do best! We will be here, cheering you on!
Appreciate it Lemonlime.
