This band, and this song specifically, got me through my teenage years, it was a very hard time for me.. HIM was a huge part of my life for so long.. I’m thankful for the music these guys created and shared with us. It’s so very much appreciated.

Yes Ville Valo is the voice and the star of the band but the other are so incredibly talented, the drummer and the guitar are just perfect not a single note wrong, the solos are perfect, the piano is beautiful and the bass simply fantastic, what a band they were
HIM have played this wonderful song far too rarely
Honestly, it’s such a beautiful piece and I wish they had played it more often
I’ve seen them 5 times, 4 of the 5 they played this song... for though Linde never went with the solo as much as he did like this...

Вот именно - проблема в том, что слушают сейчас. И мало кто из нынешней нашей молодежи не то что слушают, а вообще когда-либо слышали о HIM, как это ни печально. А так как группа распалась, тяжелее популяризировать их музыку. Но как бы там ни было, HIM всегда в наших сердцах!)))

Well ... I remember my first forlorn love at the time this album came out and I have translated lyrics from first four albums of HIM in 2003. But one song was outstanding among all ... "The Path", only song by HIM written as a story. A story of how one is wandering towards the arms of beloved one and the path to his/her love is dark, twisted, puts one's love to test if his/her love is really that strong. Altough these words are not written there but I see whole story when I listen to the song and I close my eyes. Just read the beginning of lyrics and last verses when "one look in the strangest eyes and I know where I belong" happens and then he returns back home with his love. Everything is then as it should be ;-) ... I remember how I recorded this gig during one long hot summer night from Czech TV ČT2 on VHS ... good old times when HIM had ideas for such immortal love songs, but these ideas faded sometimes on Venus Doom and later they have completely disappeared. :( Luckily these songs from their old era will exist as long as love will, and long as love will have a place and meaning these songs will have it also. I mean love between man and woman what is the most beautiful thing that can be ...

24, I saw them for the first time on their farewell tour luckily. They were very chill and ville thanked everyone for the great memory and being a part of one of their last hoorays. Great , underrated band. Though I must say their younger days obviously where their best performances, I’d say their prime was the Venus doom era. HIM live then was absolutely amazing, but also had terrific shows in the late 90s which I saw here on TH-cam. It’s too bad I was born in 95, missed a lot of the fun.
Ugh I feel the same way. I’m so happy I got to see them 5 times but my ride fell through on their last tour when I was gonna see them in Philly... :(

Linde is really good at playing super easy and simple solos in a way thy brings such soul to them. It’s odd. It always took me maybe 20 mins to grasp the scale progression, but it was always challenging to add that emotive that he uses by both how he pulls strings and mixes his pedals.
It’s crazy he’s so quiet I feel like he’s one of those people that if you heard what they had to say you’d hear profound concepts
