I really like this gloomy version of HIM. Is more heavy and dark. And these melodies. That's how I got to know and love HIM. 20 years ago. And now the band stops. The times are bad for good handmade music ....
I bought this album to my girlfriend as a gift the day it was released here in Finland. Music on the radio has is not what it used to be... The music of my teen era, even the stuff I hated was still real music
These overdrive tracks and the acoustic ones with Mige on double bass are brutal. They really kicked ass, sad to see them go.....
Im so happy 13 year old me had the good sense to listen to (and love) this kind of music, instead of all the pop that was mainstream then.

Awesome performance, H.I.M. could have been a great gothic/doom metal band if they stayed in this path. Love this song.

It was the launch of #lovemetal , but most bands had to give up, with no sales... Charon, Entwine, For My Pain, and more. Also these were all inspired in this video. Type O Negative had a video in the same studio. Also genious.

This is so amazingly good. a level they - in my opinion - never achieved again. maybe it's due to the downtuned guitar. or may be it's villes voice being at the top. or it's just the audacity of youth. guess we'll never really know ...

I used to play every song on this record and the guitar was never down tuned. It and every song after this was in E standard. The only album they dropped it down a notch was love and theory in practice.
Don't know about the albums (razorblade for sure is in standard) but the guitar in the video is down to b (but you can of course still play along with a guitar in standard tuning :))
Ville’s voice was bolder/daring, and their previous keyboard player was darker stylistically than Burton. This was a different drummer as well which could be a change in the character of the band/sound.

this man has had the best voice in rock music for the last 10 years. granted, it is getting worse and worse due to all the smoking and alcohol abuse, but this particular performance is rock solid proof that, at least up until recently, NO OTHER VOCALIST in rock music has as good a tone and ability to improvise as Valo. such a shame he's wasted what could go down as a top ten vocal chords in rock music history. STOP SMOKING AND DRINKING SO MUCH, DOUBLE V!

Thankgod he has, his voice isn’t the same, but it’s got a different angelic sound with tones similar to his power vocals in the 90’s. Bare in mind during the pandemic his vocals must have rested and recovered even more so I’m really looking forward to hearing some concerts in the future!!
