Limp mode on a transmission, puts the vehicle into a safe mode in order to protect any further damage towards the engine. It's a great program fail safe, but means your transmission most likely needs to be replaced, but there is a possibility that it could be just a bad sensor. Hope that helps.

Same thing happened in my 430. After 3 months in shop it was an electronic controller. $12 k later I’m always nervous driving. I got the same honks and yells sitting in traffic
Nick, a couple thoughts from working in my own cars over the years and also knowing about Ferrari in general, the wiring harnesses can be faulty in those cars and often overlooked since they aren’t technically mechanical. The fact that it would start up and you were able to drive it but not rev it when pedaling it could mean that it might wiring/ECU related. Electronics tend to break down in cars after almost 16 years.

I know what I have seen with many exotics that now and again if letting it have a rest does not work disconnecting the battery turning the key on to drain any left over power then turning the key off leave for a 5 min and reconnecting the battery can work as it resets the modules.
Tyler Hoover of Hoovies Garage made a video on this same issue. I don't remember the exact problem but I guess it pretty common... Tyler said if he would get it rolling it would engage the throttle and first gear. That sucks that you sat there all evening in your brand new(to you) car....that's ruff.

Bruh. Always keep enough tools to pull a battery terminal off. When you leave it for your “15-20” disconnect the terminals. Not sure if that would have fixed it, since you got it moving. But. Just know that 🤷🏾♂️

You should get the gated manual conversion for the f1 transmission! DDE did it on their 599!
