  • The response to the 4WR - 2023 Ford Super Duty Video was so good, I figured it's time to show Chevrolet some love and talk about the things I love about the refreshed 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD. Silverado 2500 - Silverado 3500. Many of these things translate to the 2024 GMC Sierra HD, 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 and 2024 Sierra 3500.
What features do you like over the Super Duty and Ram HD trucks?
    Happy Truck Hunting! Enjoy!

I don't like the idea of a monthly data plan to make the google infotainment system work.

    • @hyrumh8305
      @hyrumh8305 ปีที่แล้ว +1

GM has had a subscription like that since 2015ish and if you don't end up wanting to use Google then you can just connected your phone for Android Auto.
In order for Google to work it's going to need a data connection which they have to pay AT&t to provide. This is a better deal compared to the older models because they've added more features with the original data/wifi onboard subscription.

@@hyrumh8305 In 5-years all this hardware/software will be in the same bin as the 8-track player! Useless.
We had our old 454 GMC for 20-years! You reckon GM is going to keep up with all these subscriptions for 20-years Hyrum?

@@DennisMerwood-xk8wp The only point I was trying to make is if you want a connected truck you're going to have to pay a monthly "connection fee" kind of like your phone payment.
Just remember if you don't want all the fancy stuff with the new trucks you can always buy lower trims or use Bluetooth which is about as basic as it gets. I have a couple brand new trucks and they don't need any subscription to work. If you go into the nitty gritty on the computers on these trucks then you'll notice they're way overkill to try to be future-proof. My 2020 Chevy has got multiple updates through the years and the computers don't feel dated at all. You are right computers will become outdated but there's nothing I see that will just stop your basic functions working when that happens.
In my case the trucks will have 300,000 mi long before the computers outdated.

@@DennisMerwood-xk8wp One more thing to answer your question. GM supported OnStar which is their connected services for their early 2000 models till 2014 and the only reason they stopped is the nationwide cell service switch to a new architecture so that was about a 15-year run. Like I said 2014 till now are still supported as far as I'm aware. Ten years for the later 4g technology.

Loved the 14-15 Silverado 1500...just like I loved the original square bodies. The interior was awesome given it was designed in 2011-12 and produced in 13 as a 14 model year.

Somebody was doing Chevy Trucks up with the two-tone look from the 80s, paired with boat trailer wheels. Unfortunately, they didn't figure that out until 16 when they went away from the stacked headlights. Too bad... The 14s and 15s would've been perfect for that look.

2019 is the first year I actually liked the Chevy 1500 Syling since the mid nineties, the got rid of those square wheel wells and it looked modern yet true to the Chevrolet heritage. I actually prefer the 2019 over the 2022 front end as they softened it a bit but it still looks nice. The HD trucks look good in certain trims, but I agree with you on the HD, the refresh looks better.

Thanks for checking out the video! I'll be curious to see the full lineup of trims. From the minimal pictures I've seen, it kinda looks like the different trims will each have a bit of a different vibe. I pretty much had just the High Country to look at when I made the video.

UGLY. Who designs the exteriors of these trucks. Also the GMC. The designers need to be fired and when they finish high school, they can go to design school. I've been a Chevy guy my whole like but no longer. I switched to Ford and am very happy.

Not huge on the new front end design, i prefer the older style like what you mentioned. But still a great looking truck. I recently bought my first pickup, a 2018 f150 xlt. When i buy a new vehicle i try and plan out my next vehicle so i have something to work for. Im torn on chevy/gmc or toyota. Regardless, i wont be getting a brand new one. But i do like to see every refresh in case i change my mind.

I dont really like the new front design. It looks like half chevy half gmc. But I guess it beats the previous model look. I wish the auto industry would focus more on a getting rid of the def fuel system or come up with something more convenient to replace the def fuel system on diesel trucks.

Will there be any recalls for the 2024 Chevrolet and GMC 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax if I order one and when I get it if I decide to order one? Will there be any problems with the new touch screen like having it go in and out and go to a black screen and you can’t control any of the buttons or a/c and heat?

Great video but still pretty disappointed with these new GM trucks, especially the HD line. The roof structure above the front doors is still to pinched. This is also making the front door frames really short at the top as both them and the roof structure never really level out going from the A pillar to the B pillar. Looks very awkward especially from the side and not proportioned with the rest of the cab. Terrible looking black body plugs running along the rocker panels and they really stand out on a lighter color truck. The side view mirror placement is still just dumb looking. Mounting the mirrors below the window beltline is something reserved for sports cars...not trucks. Because of this, there is now an ugly, black, triangular piece of plastic in the corner of the door glass where the mirrors SHOULD be mounted in the first place. Lastly, GM is still using just black paint and useless wax on their frames. Trucks that are consistently driven in heavy salt use states have frames that are showing distress as they're turning white and have rust specks only after a few seasons. Trucks that are now 7-10 years old...their frames aren't happy and starting to fatigue WAY sooner than they should. I do commend GM for designing a beautiful interior though. It's just the exterior and the things I've mentioned that still needs a lot of work. Also, I think it's humorous that GM made so much fun of Ford for using aluminum in the body construction of their trucks, particularly in the beds when they themselves are doing more of that very same thing.

I'm glad you brought up on the 19 thru 22 I call it gone ugly.
I ask others if they like it no by majority.
I think the 18 looks sharp yet still modern.
I have 03 LT that is fully loaded company truck. Done lot to it, tuned the air box always sounded as if gasping for air yet high capacity. Stiff rear Anit Sway bar soon beefy front. Power stop brake kit rotors and pads.
I'd do the same to the 18 when decide on the option.
Bilstein shocks and soon Kenwood navigation the bose system is decent.

The fact GM still uses them Junk ass rancho shocks / and AT&T for internet is embarrassing, use Bilsteins. And the ZR2 Silverado uses the same shocks as the Colorado, so remember that when u look at an 74k$ 1/2 ton Silverado

First thing I do is replace the Crapo shocks with Bilstein's on the last two 2500HD's I owned, getting a 2024 gasser next month, I'll be replacing those with the Bilstein 4600's (blue and yellow ones) promptly. I found the 4600 to be superior to the 5100's in ride quality for highway travel purposes. 5100's valved a bit too aggressive for mainly highway use or at least that's MHO.
