    I'd like to add some more info for those interested about Power Plants specifically:
    Oil and Nuclear Power Plants have constant bonuses in their effective radius (Oil: 3 Production, vs Nuclear: 4 Production + 3 Science).
    Coal Power Plants, interestingly, use their IZ's adjacency bonus and provides that production to nearby cities. This means that with some good district planning and the right policy cards, you can get insane (!) production bonuses for a circle of cities with a single well-planned Coal Power Plant.
    Depending on the amount of coal you need for other purposes (military), or if CO2 levels matter to you, it is possible you won't need to upgrade your power plants to the next type.

      so its not even worth it to build power plant in every city? does it matetr to haev more power plants

    • @MatroshSS
      @MatroshSS ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Afaik coal plant does not apply its bonus adjacency production to other cities in range meaning it provides this bonus to only the parent city.

      Ive been latching vamp castles onto my industrial zones this game, it's insane how quickly I can pop anything out in either end of my empire. Playing america tsl, with double IZ regions on each side of the country, in Texas/Colorado and Detroit/new England areas. My capital has nothing double digit to produce aside from wonders.

      Better when you can chop em out in two turns tho... I do feel you tho lol. I get wrapped up in early game too often

    Small tip for industrial Zones.
    Dont build coastal cities, build 1 tile away so you can connect the city and coast with a canal which will give +2 bonus to your industrial zone.
    Add in Aqueduct and dam (if floodplains available) and get that juicy +7 industrial zone.
    Prebuild your districts!
    Set the place you want them to be build, lock that place in and go to the next district, repeat.
    The reason is quite simple: You dont want a strategic resource spawn to ruin your locations you've planned.
    The Powerplant you want depends on a few factors
    Coal: - if you play coastal domination you want the ice to melt fast to have more water for attacks
    -if you have high adjacency (4+) because its production bonus depends on adjacency.
    -in the early game, since its the only plant you'll get for a bit.
    Atomic reactors:
    -Science
    - yeah thats about it
    Oil:
    -if your adjacency production is low (3-)
    -if you dont have coal or renewable energy
    -if you dont want your cities flooded.

      Do you know how to actually get oil. I try to build the oil rigs but it won’t let me. I have all the necessary requirements, tech and builder in place. It just won’t let me. It’s not lag as it doesn’t light up indicating I’m not allowed to build it

    For so long I had to decipher what mattered and what didn't in Civ 6 tutorials because I've only had the base game. Doing my 1st Gathering Storm game with Japan arpichelago and I'm so excited to discover everything I've missed. Thanks for the great explanation!

    Great tutorial VB! It's interesting the varying yields you can get between each districts powered building. Just a quick note Research labs only give +3 science as a base so you might have had rationalism card or something else for it to get to +9

    I challenge you to win a score victory with a 500 turn limit on the standard speed with an Ancient Era start. You can choose and Civ, map, and difficulty.

      This type of win is not hard but tiresome you cant focus on one victory type and it will involve mix of every type of voctory

    Eh, I prefer to always get a lot of industrial zones mainly because I prefer things to be built faster. Sure they have to “pay for themselves,” but I think that is negated by the fact that every subsequent building is created faster as well, especially if you can stack adjacency with aqueducts and dams. Not to mention the great engineer points.

    Can you do one on roads/rails and whatever engineers can build them? Should you build roads or just let the trade routes take care of it?

    • @Benjmensch
      @Benjmensch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      so, what do roads do? they make movement more efficient. What good does that do? It helps millitary units get about mostly. Any other reason can be overlooked. So really, the only time youd wanna built roads manually is when going to war with a civ.

    I'm playing a game as Lincoln where I built a bunch of Industrial Zones and my goal is to win a space race. However in my quest to defend against Congo from winning a Culture victory, I am accidentally winning a Culture victory in about 5 turns. I had purchased and espionaged all Congo's great works away. I think I'm going to sell away all my great works into the market to Civs who are way behind to see if I can extend the game. This seems to work for artifacts when I want to get them out of the way off the map for a tile I want to build on. If I trade them away, I can keep digging more than 3 tiles.
    I need to power up the rest of empire and get another Spaceport built.

    Are wind farms/solar farms actually worth it? They cost a builder charge. The yields are so bad. I only ever build them in culture games where I've built the Biosphere, for tiles I can't fit into national parks or seaside resorts

    These tutorials are very interesting. Really, my last contact with Civ was all the way back in Civ 1, so that is useful to me. A couple questions: Did you ever get to that "Settling cities 2-4" tutorial? I can't find it. Also, you didn't do the Diplomatic Victory to complete the set, right? Anyway, good job! Thank you. :)

    I have a city where I've just built a coal-power plant. It has 2 cities near it, one to the west and another to the east, about the same distance. Only the city to the east is getting power. Why?

  • @moerko94
    @moerko94 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are wind and solar farms just for the city the tile belongs to? Or do they have like a let's say 6 tile radius and any city in range can get its power even if the production benefits of the tile belong to a different city?

  • @ozanyldz8739
    @ozanyldz8739 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like to know if it is enough for them be in the borders od the for renewable power sources or should you be able to work those tiles? Obvious answer is B but I realised that one of my cities got powerd up by non-workable tile. or did I miss something? Please inform me guys...

    I think this tutorial is missing one thing that is unclear to me: if I build a nuclear power plant, how often should i repair it in order to minimize risk for nuclear accidents?

    • @michaelburandt9134
      @michaelburandt9134 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That varies. I've let one go for like 40 turns (because I forgot about it) and only had a steam leak. But I usually repair the reactor after like 20-25 turns.

    • @aarontrue5719
      @aarontrue5719 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you hover on the option to recommission the power plant in the city projects, it will tell you the age and what kinds of accidents you're at risk for. Quick answer is that every 10 turns of age adds a more severe risk, up to meltdown at 30. Depending on what else you're building in the city, it's good to at least check after every project or two and weigh the risks with whatever else you might need to build there.

    amazing video but why caring about switching to another power source after coal? I mean if you don't mind about co2, why bothering if you have enough coal? I feel like the game has amazing buildings for power but not enough reasons to actually care about it that much

    Trying to give positive criticism: You should try to lower your "energy," it feels like you're constantly yelling at me and I have to shut the vid off. You have good content though. You're not public speaking in an auditorium, there's a mic right in your face. You can chill a little, it honestly stresses me out. Keep it up though. Hope this helps.
