The Rock was the most sanitized, neutered, safe person I've ever heard audio of. Not one real opinion. He was like the breathing version of chatgpt in 10 years.
This reminds me of when Caesar put Marc Antony up to pulling a stupid stunt to test the 'can I be emperor' waters during the Lupercalia Festival. As Marc Antony was walking in the parade down the street in front of Caesar's viewing platform, he broke off from the parade, ran over in front of the platform and then pulled a Diadem (crown) out of his robes. He then 'jokingly' tried to get Caesar to put on the diadem, but Caesar refused, waving Antony off like it was just him being lil sillygoose with this 'haha so silly' offer to put on a fucking CROWN because he just 'loves and respects Caesar so much for being such a great General lol'. But Antony doubles down and climbs up into Caesar's viewing box and tries to hand the crown to him directly -- probably part of their plan so that Caesar could make it look like he was being humble and NOT wanting to be king even when people are offering it to him and people in the crowd had been paid to chant REX REX REX (KING KING KING) at previous events. And everyone goes silent, staring at them, waiting to see if Caesar is for real going to take the crown and officially become King even though he is already functionally a dictator that runs the entire empire, but people just can't believe that he really might LEGITIMATELY name himself as King after his coup. Caesar then reads the audience and realizes this might not go well, and so he plays it off again, but this time in a really theatrical way: "I cannot accept this Antony, there is only one King of Rome, and that is JUPITER OPTIMUS MAXIMUS! Go put the crown on Jupiter's statue!" and then everyone clapped. That's what the Rock is doing lol

A decent actor when he was playing an exaggerated version o of himself?? There's different kinds of acting, different "levels" of acting, he's never been a "good" actor, he was a good entertainer. And why people act like it's a new thing is strange to me, maybe they're just marks
@HHE448 They didn't talk about a single controversial subject. When they did touch on anything, the Rock would deflect and not give an opinion. I think it's funny how Kamala said from "Fast and Furious to Jumanji" like she doesn't know who he is and just saw him on recent movie ads. I wonder if she actually knew who he was cause she also called him 'DJ' which is something I've never heard anything mention him. It’s actually hilarious watching all of this unfold. The whole point of podcasts was/is to have a more informal approach and conversation than you would see on some mainstream corporate TV, so the guests can be more relaxed and we can actually get to know them a little bit and hear some actual opinions and conversations that aren’t preapproved by their agents/PR consultants. But the Rogan’s podcast is so popular that he has basically become new mainstream and guys like this are afraid of saying something wrong there as they would be on any national TV network. It’s a shame because Rogan is so big he could simply straight up refuse to have guests like this where they’re dancing around everything for hours pretending nothing ever happened and no one ever said anything even remotely interesting/controversial, but maybe Rogan wanted us to see how lame and fake these big celebrities are and how they’re unable to publicly share their opinion about basically anything. But, honestly, I’d rather live a thousand years working average job having average life than have millions being some corporate PR politically correct talking box walking on eggshells scared shitless all the time like the rock, it is so pathetic
Seeing that side by side near-exact comparison of JRE and Jimmy Fallon’s show made me actually lol, after years of Rogan praising the superiority of his podcast to the late night talk format and how they’re taking over that medium 😂
Have you guys never seen a celebrity do a press run before? I think Joe's new comedy club is also a reason JRE has become more soft. A lot of comedians are moving to Austin to use it as a homebase. Entire shows depend on it to be a reliable venue to film their content. And most of these people are close friends of Joe's. So I think he's scared of getting cancelled to the point no one goes to his club anymore, which would end up hurting the people who rely on it.

Bro Dwayne Johnson’s entire personality is this PR persona. I wonder if it’s not an act anymore and that’s just what he’s fully embraced becoming, a PR man keeping his brand name clean and PG
I didn’t expect Joe to call him out on anything but I did expect Joe to ask him questions and dig a little into the rocks life which didn’t happen at all. There were times when the rock would ask Joe a question and then (after Joe’s answer) he would give his own answer. He was interviewing himself. I know Joe doesn’t like “interviewing” and just wants a conversation, but Joe good conversationalists ask questions, they don’t just talk about themselves. Joe should know his audience has heard his thoughts on all of this a million times. You have a big guest on, don’t let that guest make the interview about you. Just a bad podcast.
Don’t think people understand that The Rock HAS TO be this way. The Rock is a walking talking advertisement at this point. For a bunch of businesses. It's fairly obvious the rock is just trying to avoid answering anything too in depth cause he's terrified of alienating any part of his fanbase so he kept the questions focused more on Joe than on his own opinions
My statement on this podcast was everyone's breakdowns have been vastly more entertaining than the podcast itself. Joe simped in an obvious way. And "DJ" seems to be so very skilled at talking endlessly about absolutely nothing. I don't expect Joe to push guests and make them uncomfortable, but this was such an obvious late night talk show interview, but in long format. It was what I thought it was going to be, but made it through hoping there would be one nugget of something. Alas, I was left wanting.... Mostly my time back, but I digress.
People somehow expect celebrities to follow some sort of moral code depicted by someone and get pissed when they don't. That's what happens when you treat them like gods instead of like the people they are. People want celebrities to say what they're already thinking, not someone with thoughts of their own that challenge people.
100% but at the same time if I'm being honest I have enjoyed and probably preferred if the whole podcast was mostly about the Rock's wrestling career, like the Ric Flair or Undertaker episodes

Not sure why you’d assume that this is an American thing, lol. You have to be “popular” in some way to rise as a leader. That’s called humanity lol. Are you just trolling?
I will be honest because growing up being a avid fan of wrestling mostly wwf/wwe. and the rock being one of my favorites if not most favorite, I didn't really realize how fake he acts till recently. Even though deep down I thought something was off and when people like him in Hollywood or any celebrity musician or athlete has a persona like him they usually show they're fake and phony and you see their true colors. The last few years you definitely see it with the rock, the dc and fast and furious movies drama show that. And now him having to crawl back to wrestling and doing what he is doing for the spotlight proves that he doesn't care about anyone else outside his self and family. He gets by using his Charisma and sense of humor and nice smile to sucker people in and come off as Likable and have you distracted and ignore how entitled and selfish and only cares about his own self intrest. We seen that with too many Hollywood stars and celebrities and famous people even before him and we keep letting them get away with it because they entertain us. But is it worth it when their influence has so much power and pull that affects people foolishly? People like that have so much already why do they feel the need for more more more even by taking away from others with less. Smh.
Please do one about fake tough guy Jon Bernthal, he acts like he's from the streets and all tough on podcasts while his parents paid for a personal translator when he studied in a Russian ballet academy

The Rock going on these shows to talk about how "political parties wanted him to run for president reminds me of the time when Caesar schemed with Marc Antony to do a little 'skit' together during the Lupercalia Festival in front of the whole city. As Marc Antony was walking in the parade down the street in front of Caesar's viewing platform, he broke off from the parade, ran over near Caesar and then pulled a crown out of his pocket. He then 'funnily' tried to get Caesar to put on the crown, but Caesar refused it, waving Antony off like it was just Antony being silly with this excessive show because he just 'loves and respects Caesar so much for being such a great General lol'.
So instead, Antony climbs and then vaults himself up into Caesar's viewing box and tries to hand the crown to him directly, and everyone goes silent, staring at them, waiting to see if Caesar is for real going to take the crown and become King. Caesar then reads the audience and realizes this is actually not gonna go well, and so he plays it off again, but this time in a really theatrical way: "I cannot accept this Antony, there is only one King of Rome, and that is JUPITER OPTIMUS MAXIMUS!
They come on the show with a purpose 100% of the time, usually have planned things to talk about, etc.
They aren’t talk show hosts or podcasters, so they usually have a few stories to tell or talking points to hit so that the interview is effective.
Getting 100k at 25 tells you everything you need to know, he's been a Hollywood insider for a very long.
I’m confused, are you saying anyone in their 20s who earns $100K has something wrong with them? You sound like you have deep financial insecurities and you’re triggered when other people make money.
@@l-train7876 no not at all most people don't get gifted 100k at 25 years old by Hollywood is my point especially in 1980s money.
@@l-train7876 of course from a channel with zero videos and zero content.
@@TheMissingFiles2025 where are you getting “gift” from? Rogan was hosting Fear Factor, commentating UFC, and acting on News Radio when he was 25. I’d say that money was earned, not gifted.
@@l-train7876 no he wasn't, he was at youngest 30/31. Nevertheless the age isn't the sole quality you should be focusing on.
The Rock gave me the clothes off his back, nursed me, and bathed me everyday until I was able to walk on my own. He believed in me when nobody else did. He did more for me than any parent ever will. I will forever be indebted to this incredible man.
My farts are better than 2lazys farts
What a gay, Reddit tier comment, so Le Funny XDDDD
The rock carried me in his artificial womb. He's quite the lady.
Moving
Holy shit.. same here bro! He was actually there to help deliver me too, the doctor had an emergency phone call and tagged him in. I still have the hand print on my thigh/ass cheek!!
It's was so bad.
Joe said actors have a weird way of communication. An inauthentic way. Because they are always audition and make up a personality that is generally like to all people.
And it totally felt like a generic conversation with no meaning.
If the Rock becomes the president, we would have officially entered Idiocracy (Camacho).
He’s gonna put the smack down on the economy and Rock bottom Putin through a table…
@@alexmartin3143Do you smell what the rock is cooking?
Well actually it's just an insane amount of people cooking "rock" to sell, in order to feed themselves.
Rock for president.
Tosh had a great first episode, refreshing and entertaining. I hope he can catch his stride and enjoy the new platform he's doing.
Tosh is the man. I didn't know he started a show. I'll definitely be checking that out. Dude cracks me tf up 🤣
I think Joe's new comedy club is also a reason JRE has become more soft.
Thank you so much for this, I hear you 100%. I wasn’t aware of this prior to reading your comment but now I’ve become educated to the complete comedy club narrative. Mahalo my brother and have a big & beautiful weekend.

If I had a choice to vote between The Rock and a literal rock I'd vote for the latter.
I gotta say, I never had a well formed opinion on The Rock nor do I have a one now. But as soon as I read the title of this video and saw the thumbnail I said to myself "well, of course"
Bro Dwayne Johnson’s entire personality is this PR persona. I wonder if it’s not an act anymore and that’s just what he’s fully embraced becoming, a PR man keeping his brand name clean and PG
This is the jump the shark moment for JRE on Spotify
Yeah Joe has lost his hunger. He's just cashing checks now
That was the Kanye West episode
Lol, Joe sold out before the Spotify deal.
For me it was the episode with Jack and Vajia
@@PurposePlasticsbut at least he did a 2nd interview with someone else who was more knowledgeable on what to call them out about
I didn’t expect Joe to call him out on anything but I did expect Joe to ask him questions and dig a little into the rocks life which didn’t happen at all.
Under Armour, Teremana, he’s on the board of UFC and WWE, ZOA energy, Papatui skincare, etc. There are a lot of businesses that count on him to be as close to perfect as possible. He’s under the microscope 24/7. He says one wrong thing, he risks losing everything
The best part was when Joe subtly called out the Rock on his Biden support and he couldn’t defend it 😭

This made me realize that Rogan is essentially just a mildly edgy version of late night TV for millennials
He alway gave me creep vibes
I mean the rock at this point was a just a character. It’s a business pretty much and he’s been very successful doing it. Obviously he’s going to toe the line he’s gong to keep doing what’s been working. Anyone who expected more from a podcast with the rock shouldnt be surprised
Yeah I definitely believe The Rock had a list of things to not be mentioned
Roids, being a Democrat shill, asking for $$$, Black Adam bombing.
100% but at the same time if I'm being honest I have enjoyed and probably preferred if the whole podcast was mostly about the Rock's wrestling career, like the Ric Flair or Undertaker episodes
Dude said he was gonna fight Fedor in Pride. In 1997.
Yup, fresh out of his deployoment in 'Nam
He would have got bent over
Fedor wasn’t even in pride yet and the rock had already turned heel and started to take off in wwf that story was some bs
To me as a non American it’s crazy to me that being popular gives you a decent chance of being a politician and even one of the most influential politician in the world
Not sure why you’d assume that this is an American thing, lol. You have to be “popular” in some way to rise as a leader. That’s called humanity lol. Are you just trolling?
That's the case in most countries, celebrity politicians are common
It’s far from an American thing, Ukraine is an easy example
@@willpomeroy7711 being a popular politician is far different as being a random celebrity with popularity
@@poppatang4216 hmm let’s dive into the rabbit hole of who was backing up Zelenskys run for presidency
