I remember this well. I was friends with Mario at that stage. I also got to ride the legendary 500 Pantah. A shocking day. Thanks for the memories.

Just came across this video. Sadly, I was also there the day Keith passed away, hard to forget something like that. Never made it back to Kyalami.

RIP Keith Peterson. I was only a few years old, but your legend and memory will forever live on in South African Motorcycle Racing.

Thank you so much, I was at the track that day. I use to see Keith's bike in the glass display at Presto Parcells offices. Thanks again sharing this special hero's history with us. May God bless you.

Thank you so much for the video. Love it. I am living in USA now, and just finished watching Cameron Peterson come 5th in Moto America superbikes of 2022. He is doing so well.
I was at Kyalami the day Keith died. My mates and I always sat at the Crowthorn so I did not see it happen, but heard about it on the announcements. A terrible day. Keith was one of the greats, and the whole Peterson family is an inspiration to bike enthusiasts. So glad to see Cameron racing, and Robbie still so involved in the world's most challenging and exciting sport.

Thank you Dave for making this tribute to Keith. I remember later on that day seeing Mario sitting against the wire fence in the pits before the start of another race. Will never forget the look on his face.

Thanks for posting . I met Keith’s son Neil recently and when found out he’s dad was Keith I got goose bumps and felt very sad 😞 I lived in Kempton Park and often went to Kyalami for the racing helping out friends in Formula Ford racing and once they had the 250cc go karts racing there
    RIP Kieth
Remember going past Presto Parcels in Jet Park and seeing his bike in the glass cabinet at main gate .

Thank you for the video, Dave. Very sad seeing anyone lose their life, but it stings a little more when it was such a promising talent. I am happy that Kyalami and the riding gear are much safer now days (although few helmets could take such a big knock). My father-in-law was at the track that day, in the pits, and told me about the mood that settled over the paddock after the accident.

I was at Kyalami the day Keith died. He came around a few times and then I noticed he's not there anymore, so obviously one thinks mechanical problem or something.
And then a while later the announcement over the PA system....

Having seen a few uploads recently related to Kyalami, I can't help but feel that whatever campaign exists to restore the circuit to its former quasi-glory needs to come across a little more professionally. It's extremely provincial.
