Bob Costas didn't mention this, but I'm old enough to remember a time (and so are Bob and Dan) when the commissioner wasn't solely the owners' stooge. Bowie Kuhn, Bart Giamatti and Fay Vincent were commissioners who seemed to care about the fans first. Where is that mindset today? Nowhere!
Regarding MLB, Costas seems to be the voice of reason. Both sides need to look at the "big picture". In my opinion, Covid 19 notwithstanding, baseball has already taken a huge hit this year by announcing the elimination of a good chunk of the the minor leagues. I live in an area where all we have (or should I now say "had") is minor league baseball, and we are losing our team. So, add that to the current player/owner dispute and you really have to wonder if either side realizes just how much damage is being done.
I watched the Vin Scilly sounds of the games on mlb network was great. He did the amount of no hitters he called in his career is amazing.
