We wasted 20 years, thousands of lives, countless billions… for what. We are less safe and in a worse position globally now than on Sep 11 2001. That said, I am extremely proud of the US Military performance on the feild of battle in Afghanistan. We won every battle, but still lost the war due to feckless carreer politicians and their hubris. I pray we will one day learn to put the needs of US citizens above the desire to wage endless war and olay world police. Not likely. We are already at it again in Ukraine and Israel.
In Hanoi in 1975 while negotiating with the North Vietnamese, Colonel Harry G. Summers told his North Vietnamese counterpart: "You know, you never beat us on the battlefield. The North Vietnamese negotiator replied: ‘That may be so, but it is also irrelevant.’ The combat jump might have been cool, the robots, drones etc. may have provided some insight, but ultimately they had zero strategic impact.
Bro we used to hump HUNDREDS of klicks in mountainous Afghanistan get into crazy firefights be out the wire for a few days or weeks at some points and we’d get calls if we were finished with our objectives to go cleanup after 75ths shit… they would go in the middle of the night wreck shit and go.. smh if we ever went in.. in the middle of the night we’d be there until we were done straightening shit up with the bodies or whatever

You would think we had learned from our nations embarassing defeat in Vietnam. Instead we doubled down on the stupidity with the ill advised “Global War On Terror” what a frigging joke.
Things are changing in politics we are voting for more guys that fought wars

In Hanoi in 1975 while negotiating with the North Vietnamese, Colonel Harry G. Summers told his North Vietnamese counterpart: "You know, you never beat us on the battlefield. The North Vietnamese negotiator replied: ‘That may be so, but it is also irrelevant.’ The combat jump might have been cool, the robots, drones etc. may have provided some insight, but ultimately they had zero strategic impact.
Wars are now won or lost via politicians not military types. Vietnam was one of those

From what I remember my cousin was in RIP(RASP) when 9/11 happened
The politicians who benefited and the clueless populace back home will never understand the sacrifices that have been made. It’s a story with a depressing ending, and unfortunately, one that has been told many times throughout history. Some of us will never forget. RLTW
Such a shame all of those men died fighting for another countries freedom just to hand it back to the Taliban and erase the memories of those fallen rangers.
The Taliban is now essentially an American ally, the war was fought to a standstill.
