I am doing all that and can't stop. Domestic violence and abuse in childhood and then 32 year's of covert narcissistic husband, that I didn't realise till after I said, I want a divorce. Life was he'll for all those year's and then it got worse, I am 66 and wanted to leave 25 year's ago, I can't see any future or hope for me.

It won't be easy, and there will be a lot of work to do.
But with the strength and courage that has brought you this far,
you CAN overcome those things and have the life you deserve ✨️
I wish you every joy and happiness in your latter years.
      It's NEVER too late.

I've done this all my life ..62 years so far, and yes, i had childhood trauma, and I self Medicate with mainly food. While I have awareness. It's such a hard, ingrained pattern.I know it can be changed, but lots of hard work and consistency to work to change this.

Qi Gong (aka Mindful Meditation) with Lee Holden has been a great antidote to overthinking for me. There's a lot of deep breathwork involved in Qi Gong, and flowing movements, and visualizations that tie in with nature..... all very calming.

For me overthinking kicks in when I've become disconnect to myself, and I need to make a decision. I'm learning that this is a call out for me to bring myself back to my self awareness, and then ask myself what I really want and need in that situation. Then bingo! I can remain confident, build myself trust and meet my needs and growth all at the same time.

What has been helping me lately is closing my eyes and reciting the Serenity prayer while slowing down my breathing

Excellent. Completely understood what you were explaining Alex. My breathing was how you described, my body was tense so I took deep breaths and now I’m working on the constant thinking. Thank you very much xx

Thank you for the video! It is a great help. I will work on this. I have ME/ CFS since over 4 years, but its getting better since 6 months. In 2021 I was completly bedridden for many months. I work on my hypersensitive nervous system and thinks like overthinking and its getting much better! Know i realize that i was overthinking since my childhod. I thought it was normal.

    Hi Alex. Great video!
Here’s my question. Is the use of cognitive rational statements (from REBT) a good idea or not?
I’ve been taught to read them when I feel anxious but isn’t this using thinking to try and feel safe?

I have not been in the real world since 2020. I have tried all sorts of things, such as cognitive therapy, but nothing has helped me. I do not know where to go from here? xxx
