Nice! May do something like that myself. Interesting tip from Joe Pieczynski. He grinds an angle on the tip of his cut off. That way when he parts, it removes the machined part first with no burr. Then continuing in he removes the burr from the stock. Totally eliminates cleanup on your part. Thanks!
I have the qctp from Banggood, but I find it is almost to large for the Unimat DB200. I love your idea, I see it works great, easy enough for a hobby man to under take, and I'm considering making one for myself. Thank for the great inspiration. Great video too.

Nice work. Looks like a very fine finish on that 1018. Next project, make some fixed spanner wrenches for the 3 jaw chuck. The tightening pins will elongate the holes eventually. I bunged up the 3 jaw on my old Unimat using pins.

Make sure parts are seated in the vise by giving it some taps with a dead blow mallet, and when sawing with a hacksaw I like to hold the workpiece in the mill vise so it cant move. Just make sure no sawing chips stay on the knee ways

I am “just” getting back into my TAIG MICRO Lathe, (and MICRO MILL) and think this will be a good project to start with!!! As I am on a Budget, your $3.00 price for plans is Well Worth the price, but could you tell ~us~ approximately how much metal you used? I have tapped out April expenses (really: I am currently AKA as Bank of Dad, one daughter just got laid off :-( so I’ll be purchasing Plans & Metal in May (for my Birthday !!!), Anyway, I have added your utube channel to my list of Sensible Machinists. As I really learn by watching!
Thanks for the kind words, material usage is all dependent on the quantity of holders you want to make. The post takes about 2" of both materials (1" square and 1/2"x1" rect) and the holders use about 2" of the rectangular stock each...steel and brass is listed in the plans as you only need small amounts (3" of each would suffice). Hope that helps! Post a picture/video of your project when you get around to finishing it, I'd love to see it.

Oh a dovetail cutter is the way to go! The reason I didn't use one was because locally these things run $50-80 and I started this project not wanting to wait for a mail ordered one...that and I wanted to see if I could do it. Thanks for the like and comment!
That is Awesome, and nice timing for me as I am renovating my 20+ year old TAIG Lathe! One item I wanted was a Quick Change Tool Post! how can I get the plans from you?
Thanks! That stuff is cyanoacrylate (crazy glue). I use it to hold the parts in alignment while I drill the holes for tapping...saves on having to scribe and punch both parts.
As in endmills/lathe tools? Typically I use my local machine shop (United Tool) for easy to get stuff (generic endmills and HSS blanks). Harder to find stuff I go online with either Toolstoday, Lakeshore and occasionally ebay for some odd balls where I'm not worried about quality.

The mill is a "craftex" version of the G0704...which is basically means its grey instead of green.
That is pretty snazzy I will have to make one for my Taig lathe ...... Awesome idea .
