    Are you going with a Series S or a gaming PC?

      I am going to thumb this down on this as its "half" the story. PC's are not "just" a gaming console so the two are not directly comparable $$. You tend to find most gaming PC's are also used for productivity and or study etc. If you buy a console, chances are you need a non gaming PC as well for like editing TH-cam videos :P. Point being when you buy a PC you get two devices, when you buy a consoles its just a gaming console. Lastly PC has VASTLY more variety in games where you don't have to buy a monthly subscription $$ like Xbox Gold , and games tend to be cheaper on PC. Consoles are not as cheap as you think once you factory in the "Total cost of ownership" over a 5 year period vs a PC.

      I mentioned this towards the end of the video as it's a use case that will define which to go for. On a PC, it comes down to what their use case is and what will make the most sense in their situation. It's a common enough question that many don't know the differences or why to go with one over the other.
      To your point, I guarantee my Series X's cost of ownership over 5 years will be vastly less than my Maingear PC that ran me $5300. But, It really depends on what it's being compared to, but I hear what you're saying and agree that's there's way more options on PC.

    The main reason I gave up using a PC to play games was, I was always “upgrading” it, to keep up with the newer games I was buying. In fact, when I bought my first PC, I told a game store employee all about it and was told, “you’re all set…for at least 6 months.” That and I wanted to see the games on a big screen TV. I just wish some of the games that I was playing back then, could be played on my Xbox. On the other hand, I have a “not so popular” 360 game, that I wish I could play on my Xbox but I’m 99% sure, it’ll never be changed to being backwards compatible.

      Yeah, you see that quite often. When I got this most recent PC, I hooked it up to a 55" 4K/120 TV and it was cool, but wasn't very practical for me. For console, many bought an Xbox One and then played it for the entire generation.

    Good video. There's a lot of reasons to buy either or, typically gaming PCs are not going to be cheaper but their value is the breadth and width of their libraries (extensive), ability to play many generations, and ROMs. Not to mention the insane modding scene.
    Hardware wise, it's never more cost effective to go gaming PC especially since the GPU price hike. But that's why PCMR is a niche, it's also the niche that drives graphics and capabilities forward at an alarming rate.

      When comparing only one aspect in relation to each other (gaming) gives a more 1:1 comparison. There are also some base assumptions you're making that are including your own biases which may/may not be true for someone else. In the past, for example, I had both a console and a gaming PC that I ONLY gamed on. I didn't want anything work related and kept it purely gaming oriented. I also recognize that that's not the norm either. It really comes down to use cases and when doing a comparison, keeping it compared to apples to apples. You can't do productivity work on a console so keeping it prioritized to one aspect is important.

      @@BusyDadGaming I own a XBSX (not my first Xbox) for the lounge and a high end PC btw, but sure I am a PC gamer. I just feel you are talking up the initial buy-in cost of consoles while ignoring the benefit of "why" someone might want to spend more for a Gaming PC. You did miss the Console monthly subscription charges, so you have to give me that.

      The monthly cost of the online play is def something to keep in mind. I'm in the camp where I like having the best I can afford so my PC is high-end and pulling triple duty at this point, lol. For folks on a budget, it just comes down to use case and what makes the most sense for them.

    My opinion? Its a big no no.
    If you want s good gaming PC here you have to spend like 1200 euros (equal to 1100 dollars if Im not wrong). You can find some here cheaper yeah but you want a PC that runs call of duty, valorant, or even fortnite at good grafics you have to spend big time here.
    Even my little cousin who is 14 years old, plays Fortnite a lot, me and my family's had to buy him for Christmas a 5k PC to run Fortnite at 240 fps and with great grafics for him to play smooth and he enjoys a lot and gets to qualify for the cash cups in Fortnite.
    So yes series s or x all the way if you want a console to play it smooth and be chilling with the person's you love or to have a good time yourself.

    • @BusyDadGaming
      @BusyDadGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both the Series S and X (even more so the X at this point) are better investments if you're only going to be gaming. If you plan to do more than just play games (or want to play at a much higher level), then you're looking at diminishing returns based on what you plan to do with a PC.

  • @okami9039
    @okami9039 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also imo ryzen 7 3700X and RTX 3050 instead of ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1660 should be equal to the series S cuz 1660 is a bit too weak to do 60 fps at 1080p high settings in games like Valhalla unlike series S that can do it or 1080p 120 fps in warzone too while 1660 can't

    • @BusyDadGaming
      @BusyDadGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good points and I agree mostly aside from I was focusing more on the price than the performance. That and eliminate any throughout bottlenecks. A 3700x would have been bottlenecked by the GPU.

    I have a small question
    There are rumors that around 2024 or late 2023 an improved Xbox Series S will be released
    With a disk reader and storage optimization
    In your opinion, will this improved device be launched at the same price as the current Series S, which is $300? With a reduction in the price of the old version
    Or will it be launched at a higher price, around $350?

    • @BusyDadGaming
      @BusyDadGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I could see a possible refresh with possibly more storage and voltage bumps on the CPU and GPU, but I highly doubt you'll see a Series S with a disc option. Assuming market conditions get back to a more normal sense, the component prices would have to decrease by at least $100 for the Series S to stay at it's $300 price tag and have more storage and a disc tray. I just don't see that happening unless MS wants to take a decent loss on the console.
      There are several keys that would need to take place for the Series S to have additional items. One is inflation, right now it costs more to source and manufacture a Series S. Then you have current market conditions that would need to clear up (which also contributes to higher prices for raw materials and manufacturing). And lasty, you'll need fabrication methods to improve to allow for the Series S to be made cheaper. That's a lot of items to align for the Series S to have a disc tray in that time frame.

    • @maxweal9163
      @maxweal9163 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BusyDadGaming thank u for replying mate... I think that even if they don't add a disc reader
      And they only improved the storage space and added 2 terafloops to become 6tf
      These improvements will certainly lead to raising the price to approximately at least 350 dollars, and in this case people will prefer to add a small amount of money and go to the ps5 digital edition (If it is available in the market)
      If the improvements will lead to an increase in the price of the device, it will lose a large part of its sales and become useless

    • @BusyDadGaming
      @BusyDadGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do see them increasing the storage on the next go-around. I don't see them increasing the GPU power by that much. A voltage bump may get you .1-.5 more out of the console, but that would really be about it at this point. If the Series S did increase in price, it would lose that appeal and then it would be going up against the digital PS5.
