The way Kevin Spacey looked in the video game, the developers did a fantastic job to make his face looks realistic. This is one of the best Call of Duty games when it comes to Story, Gameplay and the Graphics of it.

I still don't think they should have done that. It was a waste of time and money. Shouldn't it be our decision if we want to see him in a movie or not? Whatever may have happened in his personal life doesn't diminish his talent.

He and Gideon Emery (who is TRAGICALLY underrated) were scene stealers during the game! They both portrayed interesting characters with interesting motives very well and made the campaign much more engaging
Advanced Warfare was a fantastic game!!! The graphics were revolutionary, the acting on everyone's part was perfect, the new features were awesome, and the story was fresh (yet, slightly predictable towards the end.) One of my favorite games of 2014! Also, one of my favorite COD games ever

This game was actually pretty amazing. Kevin Spacey's parts were always the best to watch, and it had a pretty good story line. Not the most original super weapon but the most original villian.

Nathan Guarte this whole thing sucks. I mean I don’t regularly watch house of cards and I prefer the more “boots on the ground” style CODs (mw, bo, etc.) but he’s a great actor and to have that all cancelled for something so devoid of evidence... damn.

I think he is one of the reasons that this is one of the best CODs of all time
Its so funny how he subtly revealed that the developers had absoultely no idea what to do with the script. In fact, they didn't have one to begin with as it seems, just a basic idea which Kevin obviously helped them to develop. But, Kevin got also a bad idea of how the gaming world works today, because if he asked Ellen Page or William Dafoe, they would probably tell them things work the other way around, almost just like in the movies. I will pick this Call Of Duty at some point, although I never buy COD games, just to see how Kevin actually performs in this.
CoD hasn't had a good story since maybe MW3. After MW3, the story becomes increasingly cliche and shallow.
Trust me. This one is unique. You won't regret buying this one. (campaign wise) :)

Oh I agree. Call of duty isnt anything like real combat. Not even close. But I personally don't play it for that. I play it cause it's fun as hell. Simple as that. And for the storylines. Which are where the interesting stuff happens. And where you can use things you obviously can't use in multiplayer. :P
Daniel Cannata That's the point, I don't like the gameplay. It's a twitch shooter, all people play are one-man-army or team deathmatch. I used to play a lot of those, but I've largely moved away from them because they started to get dull. I prefer more tactical and games requiring a higher degree of teamwork such as Planetside or Heroes and Generals. Heck, I'd pick BF4 over CoD, but it's very small scale compared to PS and HG.

This is exactly why Spacey should've resumed the role of Lex Luthor in Dawn of Justice. He is just so amazing when he plays a villain like Irons, who shares Luthor's desire for control.

it would have been good if those motion capture clips had been released, we never such much of them from gaming behind the scenes but whenever we get to it's always so interesting to see the actors in the flesh

I think what the original commenter was trying to say was that they SHOULD have made him a supporting character in the game. Creating two Advanced Warfares where the storyline in this game could have been extended out enough to develop real attachment to Irons as a character. So that his betrayal would be even more dramatic.
I didn’t know this game did motion capture for the cut scenes. It’s just how they filmed the cut scenes for the last of us
This really was an exstrodinary experience. The story is not really that different or interesting, but it holds up due to Spacey's great performance and rather deep character development, beside the awesome look of the game.

I agree. More Hollywood actors should definitely consider doing some mocap/voice acting in video games. Lots of video games these days have better story than movies in theaters. Well, in my opinion. Great movies usually come during the summer.
Ok hello I am one of those people who didn't know Kevin Spacey. Some people don't really get into movies. I hardly ever see movies or watch television, but I love video games, and he is in a video game, therefore now I know who Kevin Spacey is. That is why he did it, because there is an entirely different audience out there he could reach, so stop complaining about people who don't obsessively memorize the names of every actor from every movie they don't watch, because not everyone is into that. Settle down, you are more mad about us not knowing Kevin Spacey than Kevin Spacey is.

Audience isn't just determined by age. You're telling me that an audience of people interested in "war" and "games" is going to know some old school actor?
We're not talking about just any 'war' 'games'. We're talking about Call of Duty, one of the most popular and well known game franchises outside of Nintendo staples (unfortunately). Anyone who doesn't know Kevin Spacey (or at least recognizes his face) is almost completely guaranteed to be of the much younger generation. Because that means they have no knowledge of the Usual Suspects, American Beauty, Se7en, L.A. Confidential...all _hugely_ popular and acclaimed films that actual 'old school actors' would consider entirely recent. I mean the man's won 2 high profile Oscars.
Hell, even Superman Returns would suffice for recognition. Even most recently, House of Cards that's garnered so much attention. But that's the kind of show that I doubt 14 year olds would be interested in --- case in point.
He's also not anything close to an 'old school actor' by any stretch of the word...maybe only to some teens. That's pretty much saying Tom Hanks is an old school actor, which is kind of laughable.

I didn't know who Kevin Spacy was before this game. Did I know his face? Yes. But I don't keep track with actors. If someone says "Who's that actor?" I say "I know his/her face, but I don't know their name" Because I don't look up their names. So, to me, it wouldn't be surprising.

Advanced Warfare is my favorite call of duty game!!
Amazing job best cod character since cpt. Price! Which is saying a LOT! But this performance surpasses that of any other actor in any video game of all history! @KevinSpacey please make a return in the inevitable sequel. We know u always have a plan c,d&e all the way to beyond plan z. What's also awesome is if we take his other roles, from the one where he's tortured then we see that as the birth of irons under kaiser sosai from the usual suspects where he creates a new name for everything that's say the back story for house of cards (which btw looks exactly like him in this almost as if they use cgi it looks like in house of cards) but then finally Francis underwood become John irons. And all the back story in house of cards gives us the blanks from almost all his other movies and brings us into a fully developed deep character who's the best bad guy who really does such a wonderful job of making is love to hate the bad guy but it worked too well to the point where I wanted to trade my entire squad in codaw for irons to live! Lol Kevin spacey sold this cod to me and if he's not in the sequel then idk if I'd buy it unless they fundamentally changed the game by adding some more titanfall mechanics like the wall running feels like a necessary addition so the game could even use human cloning to keep spacey in the game idc how they write the story he survives he's cloned anything to get the job done as failure is not an option. But hands down even if they pull the ssdd mantra of the cod series but I'd buy it as is the sequel so long as Kevin spacey remains in it!!!! It would be excellent for them to also add wall running and refine the Exo boost stuff a bit. But I'd be much more reluctant to buy the sequel if he's not in it.
I really think Kevin Spacey is the perfect person for the roll of Jonnothan Irons. I dont think anyone else could have played the role the same way. How at first he came across as a good person who lost his son to the-either northern or southern- Korean army, then changes to the cold and myserious man who plans to launch (SPOILER!!!) the Manticore virus and destroy the U.S. thus stopping all wars. I like the character and i think Kevin Spacey is perfect for the role.
He also did the same style when his character was a warm politician at first but towards the end of the movie turns into a power hungry and a mysterious man. (Forgot name of the movie tho)
