Hey guys!! What other things (shots) do you struggle with? I want to keep creating videos os progressions to help you improve your game! :) Thanks for watching!
I want to understand how to think about it so I feel balanced and comfortable using semi-open stance. Closed and open are fine my feet just don't want to do the in between for some reason!
I regret that I found this video is too late. Been looking out there the one which gives you the best and easy to follow, here is the one I found. You made my day. It is super crystal clear from what I have seen from your video. Thump up with 5 STARS
Excellent video. Please upload different types of serve in one video clip in order to let us compare the differences among them. Thank you for the nice kick serve video!
Good morning! I've just found this video and loved your great detail and how your went through progressions that built the movement. Your understanding of suppination and pronation is also a confidence builder. I work with all ages and skills and always enjoy hearing how others demonstrate and instruct. I'd love to hear your approach to return of serve.
Gaston thanks for the drills. I have struggled with the kick serve and until recently when I fixed flat serve did the kicker become an easy serve for me. Basically the only difference for me between the kicker and the flat serve is the placement of the toss. Because the toss is around 11 o-clock and slightly behind you, to hit the ball, the swing from the drop, pulls the racket to the left then the racket will naturally pronate to the right. If you watch the Federer swing path carefully, you will notice that he supinates his drop and thats the key that makes the pronation very natural. It's hard to tell but I don't see much supination in your drop, I would suggest you try this and see if it works for you.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. Yes, tossing behind the head is a good resource also, but it "calls" too much the serve so your opponent would be able to anticipate. I prefer to try to keep almost the same toss and bend a little more or just the let ball drop a little more. Also, I turn a little more my shoulders on the kick serve to have an easier approach from 8 to 2 on the ball. But, this pronation I mentioned in the video, you can see that Federer also does it that way.. I think every players with good kick serve pronates well and has a very quick hand! Thanks buddy!!
Hi Gaston, I think you are one of the best tennis couches in TH-cam. I would like to take some lesssons from you and I am willing to travel wherever you are. Which club do you work for? Many thanks.
Hi Omar! Thanks a lot for that compliment, it really means a lot and it makes me happy to know that I can help people with these videos! I’m located in Brazil. Send me an email to gaston@connectingtennis.com and we can keep talking about it! Thanks! :)
Good drills and focus on hand/forearm pronation. What about the toss location? Isn’t this also very important to succeeding with learning the kick serve?
Hi.. hard to say in degrees.. but the strings are looking forward (to your opponent) until you start the pronation aaaaalmost before contact and then yes a quick hand pronation!
Is there a difference in a loose hand vs flipping the wrist? I have been told if a lot of wrist motion is used, although spin is generated the ball is light or thin. So less wrist movement would equal a heavier ball.
you can't just call every possible movement by the wrist pronation bro !! :D little here, little there, stop there, pronate to the side, pronate up... it's a destinct movement by a single joint, it's a medical term! Use it correctly or this video doesn'T make any sense. med school student.

Gaston, curious.. where are you coaching currently? just curious may be its close to get some lessons :) thanks!
How close racquet edge is heading toward the ball and when do you think the pronation starts? Thanks.
Hi.. hard to say in degrees.. but the strings are looking forward (to your opponent) until you start the pronation aaaaalmost before contact and then yes a quick hand pronation!
What happened man you don't make videos anymore? Hope all is well 🙏

Hi Gaston... how about the same concept of this video, but with progressions for the slice serve
Sure!! Will make one for that!!
Not clear.

You could call it internal shoulder rotation instead. And I don't think he referred it as "wrist" pronation.
