10:06 Okay, I actually know the story about this game. This was the first game Treasure every made. They pitched Gunstar Heroes to Sega, who said they wanted them to make a game to prove they are good enough for them. So they made McDonalds Treasure Land (as you do) and that was enough to get Gunstar Heroes greenlit.
Lowkey this is looks like a really cool designed game. The enemies that come out of your mirror image and the sumo wrestlers moving the whole tower is just a really cool idea.
Oddly enough, the beta version of this game actually DOES have McDonalds food (burgers, fries, shakes) as your health and such. The item shop was literally a mini-McDonalds that sold Big Macs and burgers. Definitely worth looking at as it's quite the oddity.
This run was full of surprises! Like, who knew Liz would play a good game?

It is a common trope that Treasure maps end in a request to leave something behind,,, The "Treasure" IS the Friends you made along the path or Learning Co-Operation.
The first boss is a tomato. There's your food.

In my memory those yellow flower things were milk shakes and the white ones were fries. Or the other way round. And there were burgers.
Again, Lizstar has the best run in a GDQ!

How come no one ever plays McKids?
Because it's not very good.
M.C. Kids does have some BS elements, but overall I think it’s pretty good. I like the level and character designs. They employ some interesting if occasionally frustrating mechanics. The map and not-quite linear design are similar to Mario 3, and it provides an optional extra challenge to completionists.
(I’m not sure why they spell it that way though.)
Is it bad that when you mentioned a creepy thing with a face, I immediately thought of the Burger King?
