Hi Jen, Linda here from sunny SA, I actually went in for my bone density check up and came out with stage 2 breast cancer 🙈… we are lucky we got it early, they did the Op to remove the tumour and two of my sentinel nodes, sadly I am having severe side effects from surgery, some nerve damage, severe cording and possible onset of lymphoedema. It’s through watching your videos that I have been given so much information and helped me ask all the right questions when I started noticing and experiencing all these side effect, sadly my oncology team never informed me the above was a possibility… I have got a good physio now who has helped with the cording and medication for the nerve damage, also half way through my radiation treatment and will soon start the hormone blocking treatment. So very eager to learn all about possible side affects and how to combat them, THANK YOU for sharing all this very important information 🥰🌸
Hi Linda! So so pleased to hear my Channel has helped you. I'm really pleased to hear you have an excellent Physio helping you - it is SO needed through and after Breast Cancer. I hope everything continues to improve for you. Jen x
Yes Im starting to have some muscle aches joint pain and stiffness. Hot flashes. Just started taking the hormone blocking pill. My oncologist said I would have muscle aches and joint pain.
Hi Nancy, yes unfortunately there are some very average side effects from Hormone Blocking Medication. I've launched a Private Group on Facebook 'The Compass Community' - a global online Breast Cancer Education & Support Network with free weekly live education sessions and Q&A. There is much more interaction on this platform. Here is the link if you would like to join: facebook.com/groups/breastcancercompasscommunity
I usually only get flashes when I go to bed, but I work out almost daily with weights and cardio. I would also suggest eliminating the caffeine and try decaf.
Hiya Jen, another really interesting video. Would love you to do one providing tips on improving quality of sleep. Thanks so much for your efforts in providing these informative videos.
I’ve been on Letrozole for around 2 months, and sleep disruption is a big problem. I also find all my arthritic joints have become a lot more painful. I’m 68 years old. I’d love help with these issues. Your videos are so helpful, thank you.
Hi Pam! Thank you for your feedback. Really appreciate your comments. I am aiming to get a Sleep Expert in to educate on sleep hygiene, and discuss ways to reduce joint pain. Jen x
Jen, another fantastic video. Six months into hormone blocking medication and am starting to see joint pain. So would love more content on this and sleep management, which hasn't been good for a while now. But all your content is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for commenting. Yes a very tough medication for so many, but with a lot of benefit for some. I am hoping my videos on this topic will be helpful. More to come soon! Jen x
Hi Paula! If you scroll down to my earlier videos, I have done an upper body resistance exercise video. I am yet to do one on the lower body but can make it happen. Thanks for watching! Jen x
Thank you so much. I believe I am having issues with this. My bone numbers are off on my bone number and I've been on the medication since April/21. I will meet with my oncologist in Dec. to retest. I'll be paying attention.
@@TheBreastCancerPhysio Thank you Jen. Your channel has been so helpful to me. I was originally diagnosed 12/01/20, so I'm still learning. I'm currently recovering from DIEP surgery 10/04/21, after having a bilateral Mastectomy. It's been a busy year getting to speed and self advocating.

Hi Deborah, I think having a Bone Mineral Density Test performed prior to starting Letrozole is a good point in time to know your baseline bone stock. I would discuss this with your Medical Team. Jen x
I am about to start letrazole. I am 70 and when I had the menopause I had terrible fibromyalgia, so I am really anxious about it. My oncologist says not to worry, there are substitutes. Are other drugs better from the pain point of view.?
Hi Angela, thanks for your question. Everyone seems to react individually to Hormone Blocking Medication. Keep an open line of communication with your Oncologist and maybe consider the Letrozole as a trial period with option to change if symptoms are not tolerable. I hope this helps. Jen
I am taking letrazole and I already had osteoporosis. Due a bone density scan soon. The side effects I have are a few aches and pains but the main one for me is weight gain and I was wondering if it will even out. I get plenty of exercise but weight still still creeping up.

I just scheduled my bone density test for a baseline, my Dr agreed it’s important.
