@@Greglandman158 thanks for watching! Sorry, I don’t know much about the newer budget friendly options for soprano, other than that Yamaha & Yanagisawa are very good & a lot cheaper than Selmers. My bass is a Chinese horn & it plays well, but I haven’t had an opportunity to compare it to any other bass saxophones yet. I’ll keep an ear out though…
There’s a really really cheap one with a rose(?) kinda colored lacquer from china I think that works really well, apparently. Go look it up it has really good reviews, and I’ve heard it in real life too and it sounds great
I bought a soprano retailed at about $1800 last year, its from my local music store though. Its a Yanagisawa copy, it plays great and I love it, just a difficult instrument. Its a Geo Winds horn, not sure if you'll be able to find it but its worth the shot.
Thank man! Long tones are really helpful. Make sure your mouthpiece/reed combination is good (not too hard/soft), then mindfully focus on your tone while playing through the full range of the horn. Consistently doing this 15 minutes or so everyday may feel pointless at first, but will get you results.
How does one afford all these horns man :( I just found a YBS-52 for $3600, but its somewhat dented and scratched. It claims the playability is not impacted at all, so I'm hopeful. Its either a Bari sax and Clarinet or a car...
@@FNBRVolts I know it’s a struggle, but don’t get discouraged! I’ve been playing a long time, & only recently have been able to do this sax quartet vibe, which has kind of been a dream of mine since I was a kid :) YBS-52 is a good horn, scratches are only cosmetic, & hopefully the dents are minimal & can be repaired. Hope it all works out!
@@saxophonistscorner Im going to do my research on the horn, Im hoping to buy a horn that can at least last me through college and into the earlier years of a career, and then hopefully resell it and buy something like a 62S or something. im just a highschooler, so Ive got time. Im lucky enough to own a nice soprano and decent alto already though. I don't play much tenor.
@@saxophonistscorner Update! I found a killer deal for a YBS 62, in used but good condition, I am now a proud owner of a bari! Only paid $4700 for a used 62, quite the deal.
The bass sax tounge slap being used as a slap stick caught me off guard

Your bari tone is amazing man. Do you have any tips that could improve tone quality
