How is he so clear? He is truly a genius, the articulation is so perfect and graceful, like the sound of a Porsche engine not a tuned up car like other violinists
Was crazy fun playing this for a violin jury, obviously not as fast but felt great to do from memory, love to share the story to anyone who knows basically my husband then boyfriend who heard me practice. And sorry to all apartment neighbors back then. Humble beginnings 😅
Try listening to Kavakos play this. He goes really really fast. And he said that he thought he was playing slow!!! But Perlman really plays very good and his sound his crisp and clear. Perfect.
I agree: Perlman sounds as if he is trying to play this piece the fastest of anyone. When you play this piece too fast (as I've tried, yet not well...), it sounds mushy or muddled or befuddled.
I hate to break it to you, but studies show that people can’t differentiate the sound of a Stradivari from that of a modern violin. Technology has allowed for better sound than Stradivari violins at a fraction of the cost. The only reason Stradivari violins are so expensive it’s simply because they’re old and rare.
@@dheevesh16 Well, there's many more modern violins now than Stradivaris to compare. There was probably a point in history where finding a Stradivari was your best bet for sound.
@@teeple1877 Paganini’s music is actually not very good musically just impressive technically. Liszt on the other hand was a fantastic composer among the likes of Schumann and Chopin while Paganini doesn’t come close
@@JohnDoe-sx2ij I like it a lot musically but I get what your saying.. Bach is my personal favorite tho. Love all the solo keyboard works and violin and cello pieces.
@@teeple1877 I like Bach too. I like all the pieces u mentioned and also his suites and concerti. Bach is probably my third favourite behind Mozart and Beethoven.

I don't care what anyone else says. Mr. Perlman is the GOAT.
Just wonderful. Both the composition and the playing!
I remember him playing this on the Tonight Show.
What musicality - unbeliveable!
he sounds so effortless, this is how it is meant to sound, and not like all those wannabe players sound where you can hear the struggle
except for Augustin Hadeliech
Don't forget you first have to be a "wannabe" before getting anywhere near to that. Struggle yourself and then comment. Peace

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The album was released in the 70s. It may have been remastered, but that doesn't make any major difference.

This is a Stradivarius violin I believe, I say that from the sound alone.
don't think so, I bet it's his Guarneri. I say that from wikipedia alone. :)
you are absolutely right!
Daniel Raftö Ehm, Perlman plays the Soil Stradivarius from 1714 for over 30 years now?

Sounds rushed and not very nice to listen to, yet technically superb.
This caprice is meant to be played like this.. I’d assume anyways considering Paganinis skill level and reputation.
Could be wrong tho
