Even if Alicent doubted that Rhaenyra was ruthless enough to kill her children to secure her place on the throne, there could be no doubt that her husband Daemon possessed that degree of ruthlessness.
This is so incredible! You captured the nuances of her character so well - between her love and hatred for Rhaenyra, the desperateness she tries to cling to her faith and her duty, while hating her own position. I love this video so much! Kudos!
Allicent isn't perfect, and is on a villain arc, but I feel she gets villified whereas the actions of other characters (Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, Daemon, ie) get whitewashed. She is a well-written character.
Alicent always served men first her father, then her husband and now her usurper son was even able to take over a throne that didn't belong to him, it's so miserable ☠️
She didn’t betray everything, she wanted to protect her children. She sacrificed a lot including her children later on despite trying to save them and keep them safe
She did sacrifice a lot. Just for the wrong people. She sided with those she had been raised to side with and betrayed the people who actually cared for her and would have seen her as more than just a tool.
By far the most realistic, complex and nuanced character in the whole show.
