i've been a passive fan since their debut and it just baffles me not to see them just everywhere when they're so talented and puts out really really amazing songs
By the way, our fandom had to fight tooth and nail to get Piña Colada & Mantrum released. And nowadays, we have to BEG for songs they tease to even get a second verse, and start full twitter campaigns to bring them back.
That’s not at the fault of the artists though. Labels nowadays force artists to tease all their songs on TikTok till it blows up, and they’ll keep teasing a song till it reaches the numbers that the label wants, or else they can’t release any music.
hey! I'm a huge fan of Boys World and I'd like to add my thoughts here! I completely agree that their marketing and promotion could be MUCH better! The girls are incredibly talented and its frustrating to see their label not give them what they deserve! Buuuuuttttt in terms of music, I think their music is GREAT and I don't like this narrative that upbeat pop music is "kiddish" and that every.single.female.artist needs to "mature" into an R&B/trap sound. I love Boys World doing R&B, don't get me wrong. Gone Girl is an amazing song! But at the same time, songs like Wingman, Something in the Water, and Touched by an Angel are really fun, vibrant pop songs and I wouldn't call them kiddish by any means. Maybe it's because I listen to a lot of kpop, but I don't associate brighter and more bubblegum pop songs with being "immature" or "only for teenagers". I feel like anyone can enjoy upbeat fun music, and we already have other girl groups doing a more R&B pop sound, like Citizen Queen and ESPECIALLY Flo. Why do we want Boys World to just be another version of those groups? Boys World's more pure pop sound stands out among those groups, and right now what they NEED is to stand out. Rina Sawayama has carved out a small but dedicated fanbase who appreciate her dedication to larger than life, "maximalist" pop music that doesn't try to be subtle or "cool" in the context of today's trends. And, unpopular opinion, but I hope Boys World leans more into THAT! Lean into the pop fantasy! Lean into the larger than life, polished, over-the-top, sassy, fun nature of pop music and especially pop girl group music. These girls have the potential to be "main pop girls" but people need to stop advocating for them to turn away from pop music when that's what they were initially created to be! A pop music group! And I can't speak personally for the member's individual interests...I know some of them seem to be more into R&B and alternative/indie music and I totally respect that!. But there's such a hole in the market for a girl group making straightforward, unapologetic pop music. FLO is already filling the hole of a song like "Gone Girl". Citizen Queen is already filling the hole of a song like "Funeral". I love those two songs by the way, I'm just using examples. But Touched by an Angel? SO WHAT? Something in the Water? WINGMAN? These are the songs that NO other group right now is making. I feel like people need to stop trying to make Boys World like everyone else, since that's going to do in the long run is make them indistinguishable from the crowd!
Couldn’t agree more Kim Petras and Charli XCX also have dedicated fans for sticking to their pop/hyper pop sounds. Also people are saying pop girls are about to have a big rebirth so they should stick to that.
Random but I really like how many girl group stans are here in the comments. Like y'all talking about Flo, Blackswan, Katseye, Vcha and Citizen Queen. I really found my people 😭
it’s so refreshing to see someone constructively criticise them and still root for them at the same time, the twitter hate campaign made me lose hope we still had people like this. also ur point about them not letting songs breathe got proven even more this week when they released tbwsc😭 gone girl had the potential to win over their fans who switched up on them but here they go ending the era 2 weeks into it.. in the future, im hoping that if they dont get to do press tours on talk shows/radio shows, we at least get vocal performances like the ones dream academy did (“still into you” for example). and i also hope dream academy/katseye is a wake-up call for kyn and the girls because it’s not looking good
@@vasinvinnesha9034 no because Gone Girl was really giving early 2000's R&B, Destiny's Child vibe low key, and it still makes me SICK it didn't get as much hype. I listen to it religiously
@@vasinvinnesha9034 you’re not wrong. Same issue with Piña Colada just in reverse. Should’ve been released earlier in the summer instead of after/later, probably would’ve been song of the summer (hate that phrase but you get it lol)
@@nunugirlswag109 and same issue with So What 😩 they released it at the end of July when the song and music video should've been out since May of that year. 🤦🏿♀️
Kyn needs to step up. They haven't done any meaningful promotion since girlfriends era. The girls basically have to fend for themselves and promote on tiktok when that isn't enough. They need to be marketed outside of tiktok cause if not their career is gonna remain stagnant
i agree a lot with this video but i do feel like the company didn’t take advantage of that momentum they had after Girlfriends released bc not only ppl were tuning in but also their tiktoks were going viral more often. if they were to take the approach FLO did business wise they would be way bigger artists. sure it would’ve been a huge investment but without investment unfortunately there’s less opportunities. Another thing is that when it comes to timing of releasing music they don’t seem to hit the mark, i.e SITW would’ve been a summer hit had they not released it at the end of summer, just like pina colada, i feel like they should’ve released pina before the ep cause then it would’ve fit the summer vibes, and then the ep feels more autumn in my opinion.
we tried to tell them to release pina before the ep and even told them it would work more than mmgai. however, their label didn’t listen to us and we had to suck up for them to actually release it at all
@@ScrumHalfDachshund when cardboard box started to go viral on twt i believe it was a week or two later they announced that they were releasing immature, and then a week after they announcement the song was released on all platforms which is something boysworld lacks bc they tease songs for weeks and by the time they release it, ppl are turned off. also like it was mentioned in the video they don’t do live versions of their songs, which is something flos label made a good move on, bc with only two songs out they sung them live on Vevo live sessions which peaked ppls interest bc they showcased their vocal talents. and then when Flos ep was released they went on a UK/US tour and teased their newer songs. which also correlates with what i said how their label let momentum slip away, boys world should’ve had a tour by the end of 2021. had boysworld label done something similar like Flos team did the girls would be at award shows rn.
@@melonpeach9723 then that’s terrible from the labels part bc that means they don’t care about the audiences opinion. knowing ur audience gets u very far. i just feel like the girls need a better team and management
crazy how they keep putting out music and refuse to promote the music afterwards... like did you think it was gonna work if you kept stacking single after single???
The thing is Boys World's single releases and choices have been questionable for the past 2 years. It's a hit or miss with them. For example with So What, they released it at the right time, gained some level of exposure and hype and the mgt did nothing to sustain it. They released SITW and Piña Colada at the wrong times when it should've been released as a summer single like it sounds. I honestly feel like So What was their breakthrough opportunity. Also, the group hasn't quite found a sound they can build off from, when you think of Boys World, you don't get a clear image of what the group is about or what their sound is. That's where the cohesiveness come into play. Fine, they do pop and sometimes RnB but within these genres, what are they known for? Their mgt hasn't been able to solidify their place as a girl group. They've been too experimental with them, Jack of all trades, master of none approach and that's not the best.
Something In the Water and Piña Colada being released at the end of summer pissed me off because those songs had the potential to smash for them. Like SITW should’ve been released in May instead of All Me and PC should’ve been released in June instead of MMGAI. They keep missing the mark and it’s frustrating
Ima going to say what everyone isn’t thinking: these girls need to pull a Spice Girls and look for a new management team OR manage themselves. I fully believe the girls are intelligent enough and capable to take their careers in their own hands.
ik the girls are older & probs don't identify with their bubblegum pop sound anymore, but i thought it suited them & their brand the best. +i always feel like ppl are telling young girls that in order for them to be taken seriously, they need to mature their image when boysworld at their debut (19-17 btw) were just fine being fun & carefree girls. if anything, they should've continued with this sound for a few years before giving us these new, more mature singles.
I found out about this group from TH-cam recommending me “So What.” and I loved them ever since. Every single one of those girls are talented and it’s bitter sweet. I’d love to see them mainstream but we all know that if that happens, changes will get made and I don’t want that group to change at all. Boys world is definitely my favorite girl group.
I love boys world but I feel that everything sis said just now needed to be said. I think they are a dynamic group but they need to secure a clear style and path for themselves. I also think they need to post some covers to TH-cam and promote them on TikTok to pass their following over. That way they can do acoustic/accapella versions of songs and show all five girls at the same time in a cost effective way. I also feel that we need to see longer covers and/or longer songs. Actually really love their vibe and music but i always find that I want another verse/longer outro……maybe a chord of the whole group belting together to fully hear their harmonies. All in love🫶🏾
As someone who has been a fan since their first song, seeing their decline has really made me sad since they’re all extremely talented. I eventually lost interest over time, but I still watch them every now and then. I just think they need an interesting concept switch to draw in more attention as they’ve been doing the same thing over and over since their debut. I really hope to see them really blow up!
as someone who went from a stan to casually checking them out every other month, i deffo agree w/ u. a lot of these critiques were mine also. i rmbr there being rumors of a nationwide tiktok ban just a month before boysworld debuted with 'girlfriends'. what would kyn even do if that turned out to be true boysworld's career would've basically POOFED! & last time i heard, kyn's an indie label so idk why merging with a bigger label or being smart with their money wasn't already on their list of things to do in order to make boysworld the next big girl group. it's dissapointing bc i rlly did love the girls back when i was a stan (i left after sitw bc of the hiatus & i was getting more into kpop) & i just want the best for them. if i were apart of their marketing team around 'while you were out' era, i definitely would've spent more on high budget performance videos & having them do multiple interviews over the course of like two-three months. maybe some radio stuff in their hometown, promoting on random youtube channels, mtv's push, etc. then release 'something in the water' for new fans in mid-july, some more fun vlogs, & then maybe a christmas single with christmas covers all throughout december before gearing up for the next era.
What I see as a huge problem is the big push for the start of their career but none of that noise for any releases afterwards. I jumped onto their energy during the first EP through Mantrum, then so much time passed until the second EP that I barely even heard about the new music. I also see so much more individual content than group content on all socials, and that just feels off when it goes hand-in-hand with the too short, “trendy” songs they make as singles. I’ll keep listening, but there is so much new girl group competition. I truly don’t want Boys World to get lost in the shuffle.
Exactly omg exactly!!!!! Boys World i love them so much i can't help but I think of 5H when I think of them (in other words meaning they could take over the world which i don't quite see with other girl groups today). But whatever you said is spot on. They are already 20+ year olds. Their aesthetic should've matured way more by now but sometimes it gets so kiddish. And also their live performances don't even feel like live performances coz they dance and shake too much and their vocals are all over the place (very unsteady and quite offkey). And it's annoying that most of their songs are like interludes coz they are super short like gosh. I love their tones so much they've got distinct and individual tones to them that makes their group very appealing (quite like 5H). I hate to say this but, i won't mind if they just wiped off all their Spotify and restart with a better sound and consistency. This bubblegum pop isn't for them whatsoever. R&B (Gone Girl), Grunge (ihateurguts, do what i want which are unreleased), or Soul would suit them way more. Also, like why do they tease so much music just for all of it to be unreleased? I have so much excitement whenever they release a new song, but I look at the cover art and I'm like damn you Boys World. But I've learnt to take it in my stride. Idek whether we'll get an album from them and I hope we don't until and unless they come to the point of knowing what their sound is and sticking to it and get past that experimental phase after they've set the tone and laid proper ground. I don't wish for an album that seems scattered and not cohesive. Anyways I wish them all the best and all of this comes from a place of nothing but love for them coz I love my girl groups a lot. And thank you for this video. Glad someone else thinks the same.
@@caughtinyourlove and the thing is I don’t really care for Girlfriends specifically I feel like it was too generic I’m with you TIp Toe , Funeral, Wrong Side should be their direction the song Me my girls and I didn’t make sense as a single
Just wait for katseye american global group created under kpop training and system with biggest korean company hybe and geffan you gonna witness the biggest american global pop group under kpop trained
U said it perfectly. I really like this band , their chemistry, and all the girls are very talented but their management is fumbling the bag real bad. It seems like they saw the rise of “tiktok artists” in the beginning of the pandemic and are trying really hard to replicate that for these girls when they really need a traditional rollout, better marketing, and more exposure outside the tiktok app. Great essay!
They were the perfect Bratz type dancing American Girl Group. It's sad to see them at this point because I was REALLY rooting for them. 😭 The last American girl group i remember that was great dancers and singers was Girlicious.
not ignoring the full video of good research and scripting, but i fell in love with ur intro 😭 it’s so well edited, wow. I completely got thrown back to watching TV and seeing magazines in the 2000s . It’s hard to achieve such an authentic 2000s editing feel with how far softwares have come since then, I’m so smitten w it 😭
Boysworld, Citizen Queen and Blackswan deserve so much more success but their management seems to hold them back. I hope these three groups in particular make it big one day. I loveeee multiethnic girl groups we need moreee of them
Hate to say it but their biggest issue is their group image & sense of direction. One music video they give girly and 10-16 and the next music video they give 18+ but still dress like 16 and under. It’s perfectly to have growth within a group but their “Eras” are too close together. All they need is a mature rebranding, main stream feature and a catchy chorus that tik tok can blow up. They also need to work on their vocal arrangement but that’s what comes with being Artist
@@vasinvinnesha9034the group has no chemistry. They were hand picked to be in a group without even knowing one another. Their vocal positions are not lined up to the best of their abilities & their music video themes are never on topic. They need artist development because being in a. Girl group you have to understand that no one is better than the other. Queenie seems to think she’s the leader of the group. Olivia is the mastermind behind the storylines of the songs. Elena isn’t as confident with her voice. Lilian has the most versatile vocals to the point where she all over all the songs when it comes to background vocals and harmonies & makayhli hasn’t found her creative flow yet when it comes to singing but overall they all need artist development because they have too many songs out to not have a sense of direction m. We often blame management and the labels but honestly they can only do so much. Some people have it naturally and some don’t
@@JJ-te6xj if you watch their recently lives then you will understand why I said they have no chemistry. Their not solid as friends and their not solid as a group. They been a group for 3-4 years and they have yet to have a feature. They have yet to have a commercial radio hit & their label doesn’t promote them like they could or should & they don’t have their harmony as tight as it should. Watch fifth harmony, little mix, destiny child, danity kane ..ect.. music videos and listen to their songs and compare them to boys world, if this is all boys world got then they’re in for a rude awakening.
i love them too but i feel like they’re wasting time like the tiktok thing is so overdue and basically it’s the only source of promotion we need to see them collaborating with youtubers or any internet personality or trying to collab with a famous songwriter like Julia Michaels or something so they can be introduce to a new audience…the yt vlogging thing is boring and not effective also they need a new performance director like Kiel ou Kyle bc is starring to look messy.
there were so many times they could’ve rode the hype wave. ‘so what’ did well but was barely promoted. ‘mantrum’ went viral in kpop twt and it took forever for them to release it. their label never strikes while iron is hot since they’re tactics are so outdated. they could be big but it’s holding them back.
@user-vm9ed9bc1k yeah I know they love each other, but I'm just worried because they're not big yet after 4 years that they'll eventually split to be solo. Not that I want that obviously but I agree with some points in this video where it seems like 5 soloists at times. But I blame KYN mostly bc I imagine they have limited resources.
i guess thats why kpop took off everything is so put together and a group is seen as one until they actually get famous, i also think american music videos dont have storylines anymore and are too simplee maybe because of peoples attention spans idk? but i notice how clean cut kpop videos are. the trainee system over is intense but i think its needed i think they need better song writers
Then you have very good news biggest global pop group coming trained under kpop system and dance group formed under hybe and geffan 🔥 Katseye is the name pop gonna witness the strongest and biggest global girl group in the history the success is all set!! Just wait for their debut... They are coming...
I totally hear you on wanting more consistency and group cohesion from Boys World! Both things I think they're missing right now, and things that would help them improve. Another thing I'd love to see them do is improve their live performance, particularly their vocals. They look and sound so good in studio and in their videos but I just don't think it's translating to the stage, especially when they've been around for so long now. I wouldn't book a lot of live performances without working on this first. As much as I love Gone Girl, I actually wouldn't have them go more into R&B/trap as I don't think it fits the group as it's being presented and I don't think the group is vocally ready for a whole album of the tight and tricky harmonies that can come with R&B. I thought the bubblegum pop of So What/Something in the Water was the right call for Boys World at debut (really refreshing in the market, fits the look of the group, can attract a wide audience) and they should've stuck with this for a bit longer before slowly moving outwards if that's what their preference was. Also, as a genre it doesn't necessarily *require* the vocal ability R&B does (though there have also been bubblegum groups that were TIGHT with the harmonies like early 1D/Little Mix)
have u seen and heard them live? i was at their LA show last month and compared to other girl groups who do the amount of choreo and performance as a FIVE piece, it's exceptional and their mics were ON. think the closest that come are DC or LM but they're it
@@johnjoo7249 They've never stopped in a city near me so I haven't had the opportunity. I've seen many live videos from different tour dates and, for me, what you saw and heard didn't come across in those videos. As a LM fan, I think LM's dance and vocal technique was stronger when they were 4 years old, compared to BW, but to be fair to BW, LM had a lot of live performance experience at that point and BW still doesn't have very much.
@@floraleia if you ever get a chance to see them live, you should check them out. i watched all their YT performances before the live show and it was different plus LA is their people/homebase so they were extra comfortable/in their element. i have to constantly get out of the comparison/competition mindset and remind myself that i love girl groups b/c of their distinct contributions, their camaraderie (when it's there) and not by sexist/racist standards that they have to constantly contend with from the industry & world. i fkn LOVE LM for the distinct trajectory and growth they had as a group. but those girls really did so much exposure to performing from the very beginning and i can't underscore how important management, a&r, resources (not just marketing/promo but for artist development for singing, performing, etc) shape how fans experience their performances. overall i'm glad this video was made because it means there is a fanbase or at least a significant group of people that are paying attention to them and want better for them b/c they really do deserve it.
I have to say their performances have been spotty but I chocked it up to not having much experience. Sometimes I wished they wouldn’t have a Kpop approach to live shows. Maybe have a dance break or 2. It’s ok to freestyle connect with the crowd more rather than focus on that breathtaking choreo that will leave your vocals struggling
@@Popfilia have you seen them live yet or are you basing it off the videos you've watched online? they do have breaks and definitely interacted with the audience beyond superficial ways. they shout out to their day 1 fans, bring them up, talk to them and engage them throughout the show, incorporated the girlfriend hotline theme from their debut to introduce songs, etc. i know your channel is sharing your assessment but as a fan and someone who also has and continue to pay very close attention to girl groups over 25 years (i'm really aging myself lol), they put on a great ass show and really entertained the crowd. also can you explain what you mean when you said you wished they wouldn't have a kpop approach to live shows?
Opinions before watching the video : BOYSWORLD is so messy. First of all their concept, i see them doing a lot of genres but they are not consistent. Usually when you're an artist, it is right away the debut that you show your diversity in concept so viewers will know what they're capable of but no. Boysworld management decided to make them comebcak every 8 months with different concept and no ponctuality. Like Wingman and Girlfriend... not the same concept 6 months of waiting then 1 year then again a shift So what. They need to do more covers, BTS and stable dance pratices. We are in a era where artists are relatable, since kpop is mainstream every artist now as Olivia Rodrigo, Flo, No guidnce or XG are doing it like- And they may be a group but they look like 5 soloist who are best friends outside the stage and rival on the stage. You have one girl singing the whole chorus, one at the back, one who's "overdancing" (overdancing dosen't exist but her energy isn't canalized) etc. And i was waiting for them to appear in Head in the clouds or other festivals that global group joined like maybe Dolla, Angel 22, Xg and no guidnce. Even more little group like Citizen queens seems to have more control and more open fan artist relationship with their fan and we feel the energy of the 4 members.
likeee ive always wondered why are they unknown, i thought they were bigger when i first heard them only to find out they barely have 1m monthly listeners on spotify this vid explain so much thank youuu
I’m so glad somebody made a video and articulated how I have been feeling this entire time. I feel like they really lack consistency and cohesiveness like you said. Every time they release a single they do this very starkly different concept instead of sticking to one era . I can tell they kind of pull from K-pop a little bit and I think that’s a good idea. K-pop is trending and it is very popular. But in K-pop they really commit to having a story with not only the concepts but also the music. So putting Easter eggs in your videos or just making fans engage more with what’s going on can be helpful. But every time they release a single It just sounds so different like they really just don’t go together. And it also doesn’t help that they haven’t released an album yet. I think they are all really really talented. Even with the money thing they don’t need a lot of fancy stuff to show that they are talented. If they wanted to save money they could DIY a lot of stuff do their own hair nails and make up they obviously know how to do them. I like the idea of a girl power group but I really think that they need to hone in on in and focus on one concept at a time so that people know who they are, and then we as fans can grow with their music❤
Can we get an updated opinion video when more time passes after thier TV appearance in China? I think their label is up to something big soon, or at least I hope. Edit: Apparently MTV's offical channel commented on their Wingman music video 3 years ago and we did NOT see any attempts from the marketing team to latch onto that?!
also have you heard their unreleased song Confessions? it’s gone viral on multiple platforms and even has an ot5 member ai cover, and kyn entertainment has opted not to release it. their best song imo.
I love Confessions! I'm so sad they aren't releasing it, it has hit written ALL OVER IT. Especially with the Due Lipa Future Nostalgia esque vibe of the chorus!
this video really voiced my thoughts, i couldn't get into boys world and i think this is why, all the best for the girls the team needs to get it together though
agree with every you just said. i only got into them earlier this year but i’m disappointed in their career trajectory i expected better. but what i’m about to say has nothing to do with the girls they’re talented, it’s about their label. i’m sorry but unless they change their management/label, they’re not gonna make it🤷♀️hard truth but kyn entertainment sucks. they had such good momentum with girlfriends but kyn failed to act on the potential and didn’t market or promote them to gain a more wider audience. their management sucks bc ik if their management worked as hard as flo’s after the release of girlfriends, they could’ve been way more successful than they are now. if they don’t have enough money to promote them then why are they debuting a girl group which is gonna be expensive to handle? tiktok self promotion isn’t enough. they drop a song, the GIRLS promote it by themselves and then after a little time they forget they ever released that song then move onto a new song. their new releases just comes and goes then they disappear. their “eras” are very underwhelming to say the least and that’s their teams fault for not marketing and promoting them well. and it’s not helping that there are gonna be 2 new girl groups debuting in america next year both under major record labels. vcha is under republic records (one of the best labels) and katseye is under hybe (successful k-pop label) and geffen records (olivia rodrigo’s label) so you just know those groups are about to get a crazy push and huge marketing/promotion campaign meanwhile boys world label don’t do anything 😕 unless kyn does something, once katseye and vcha debut, boys world is unfortunately going to get overshadowed. don’t get me wrong it’s not the girls fault, they DO have potential to make it, they got some good ass songs in their discography. it just needs better marketing & promotion especially under a better team. hopefully another label sees their potential and signs them to help develop them and invest in them bc kyn? not it.
nah didn’t even think about vcha and katseye 😪. i actually do think stars are stable fan base rn but i think there’s probably lots of people who tune in and then leave bc lack of content/promotion so then fandom never really grows
@@m3gstarrr436 exactly that spot on, it’s like people get interested but then if they see nothing interesting happening after, they just get bored then leave but yes they do have a fanbase foundation so that’s an advantage
@@caughtinyourlove yeah 😕 because when flo debuted, boys world hadn’t released a song for like 7 months, so the timing was very unfortunate for them. flo just got hit tweets from cardboard box and started to gain hype so their team saw the feedback then struck the iron while it was hot & dropped performances, music content, got them signed to america’s republic records, then eventually they released their second single and dropped a whole EP that performed well - all while they still had hype around them. their marketing and promotion was literally perfect. flo interacted with their audience too which helped them gain a solid dedicated fanbase. in that same time flo was rising, unfortunately boys world did *nothing* (not their fault). they just kept teasing “so what” for like months with no release date in sight, just the tiktoks to the same sound which eventually got people bored of them and made them move onto flo who was actually doing way more at the time. boys world team is definitely to blame for that bc flo should’ve been a wake up call for them to get their act together and start to push bw properly. flo started to rise in 2022 and their label let them release 7 songs that year, meanwhile boys world’s label only let them release 1 that same year. 😬 it wasn’t a good look especially since flo had a good marketing and promotion team who got them performing on late night shows and award shows….but with bw so what wasn’t even promoted outside of tiktok. their team really does suck i’m sorry. fast forward to this year, flo’s team got them on more late night shows, award shows, high level fashion events, huge festivals, they even did a whole sold out theatre tour in the uk and us, bagged a missy elliot collab and dropped a surprise ep which performed well to the point they’re now officially a global priority for universal music group. boys world’s team did get them on a small tour and let them release an ep but with only 2 new songs 😐 then pina colada came then went, then gone girl came then went with no real promotion or marketing, they move on from their new releases way too quickly. and no i don’t agree with the hate they get especially ok twitter, it’s stupid and it’s not their fault their team doesn’t market or promote them for them to become more popular. that’s why i’m sad for boys world bc they’re really talented girls who really deserve a supportive team behind them. and the fact that flo is set to make a huge comeback next year with new management with their debut album rollout meanwhile boys world who’s been around for over 3 years doesn’t even have one album out… just dragged out singles and eps. this group seriously lacks a marketing plan and they deserve better
i have been listening to them since girlfriends and love them so much :,) glad to see that i'm not the only person who is pretty sure their company is the reason behind their popularity falling. like they have tiktoks go viral and teasers of songs which don't release until the hype is GONE.
Ive been a boys world fan since debut. If their marketing was better they would be everywhere. They could headline coachella if they wanted to but their marketing and promotion is holding them back so muchhh
I’ve always hated the name alone like a girl group called boys world? just sounds like their girls living in a boys world which doesn’t line with their image at all should’ve been girls world or something with girl empowerment and idk if you have to explain it then it’s not good! that being said every other point is so valid in this video! it just seems like a bunch of influencers thrown together into a group to gain solo fans they just don’t seem to care about the group as a whole
@@Anna-tg3zh same I was like “girl groups are usually about female empowerment or uplifting women” but they chose boys world which wether it was their intention or not uplifts men and says they live in a boys world which is weird because men suck 😭
All this but especially them either doing too much or not enough! That's been driving me crazy! I feel like their last couple singles have really been showing their growth as artists and I just wish they could take their time a little and adequately promote their songs in a professional manner not just making a couple tik toks. I love them but I am really tired of their agency's marketing
i think the problem is that they unfortunately debuted during a tough time but still made it work. they’re also now in their early 20s so the shift of music/experiences will be different in terms of sound. the bigger issue is that they are signed to a independent label, if they were to leave and join a republic records or a label with funding to push them it will be best! look at citizen queen, left the label, a member left and still delivered a ep that got millions of streams, people want groups!
Citizen Queen left RCA and have been independent since. But you're right they were still able to get 2mil+ Spotify streams on "So Special" in less than one year without a label.
@@vasinvinnesha9034there’s a bunch of group’s upcoming too. Laurie Ann is redebuting her group K3 that’s r&b, SZNS been getting traction, FLO is certainly coming FAST, Psiryn is Kandi’s Group. CQ although independent i can see them getting a distribution deal soon. BW still has a chance anddd im excited for this shift in their sound
Ohhh this is a great vid. Especially as a lessons learned for GG coming on the scene. A group I just got into is KATSEYE from the Dream Academy survival show
I love boysworld!! But They need a better label and they need to stop being inconsistent, you can’t be inconsistent without a solid Fanbase. Like once they get more streams and bigger arenas Then maybe they can be inconsistent with posting on TikTok and Instagram but right now they really need to engage with their fans more.
i don’t really know much about Boys World. i’ve only seen like maybe one or two of their music videos (can’t remember the names). from what i can remember, i wasn’t too fond of the music video and lyrics. ngl, they gave me addison rae tiktok vibes; and the lyrics to the music videos were quite generic. i feel like if they give off vibes similar to Destiny’s Child, Spice Girls, and Little Mix, they could get popular (they also need a better creative team and marketing team). i guess since i’ve been a kpop fan for about 10 years, i get somewhat picky and have high expectations when it comes to non-korean groups. the only non-korean girl groups that i have been excited for are XG and Atarashii Gakko.
So what is my favorite and Pina colada is my second favorite! I’ve been following them since the beginning. I feel like they’ve been switching concept/genre too much. In my opinion, they should just stick to one or two concept/genre and switch when they actually have a strong and loyal fan base.
They are a good group and interact with fans on social media as much as possible so they stay connected with fans any possible when they are not busy. They are on every possible social media outlet just gotta look for it and discover it anytime.
Please do a vodeo on Now United next! I always wondered why no one seems to know them here in the US but they have a huge fanbase overseas and win several awards.
Citizen Queen funny enough is in a slightly better position. I’ve been watching them for a while and they’ve been moving way better maybe I’ll do a video on them
like to see them do more busking in different US cities and if they need capital or just views do promo in the Ph they would def pay and prob get easy guesting in the media over there.
I don’t know if you’ve heard of or done a video on Bella Dose (L-pop girl group) but I think you should check them out. An analysis on them would definitely be interesting!
sometimes i get why kpop got so successful with their training systems and the strict management. i never really thought about the individual instagrams and covers can make a groups performance seem ingenious 😞.
Just wait for biggest group gonna debut this june american global group trained under kpop training under hybe and geffan🔥 all the same system as kpop but global pop group they gonna blow the pop world
Can you talk ab the girlgroup RLY? They were on the uk xfactor in 2019 and won (it was like a group version of xfactor). It would just be interesting to see your take on them since they did have interest before their debut and kind of had a different promo strategy to BW. They also have two songs out too
They are good something in the water is a bop they feel like GRL who were a group in 2014 their song vacation sounds like something in the water but they had backing by robin antin & they need geffin or even polydor in uk they have massive potential they should of had something in the water in the barbie movie tbh such a shame 😀
@@rosanah.9089 They have the potential to write really good songs, but their label needs to narrow them down to a specific concept. They're making too many different genre's that 'Boys World' isn't really a sound, just a group that releases any type of music.
They are very talented but company needs to level up the game since the biggest american gg is coming under big company like hybe can easily take over they gonna rule the pop world without doubt!!
THEIR MUSIC SUX BIG TIME THATS WHY NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION. FLO DEBUTED OUT OF NOWHERE AND BUILT A SOLID FAN BASE BECAUSE OF HIGH QUALITY MUSIC. THEIR LABEL IS WASTING THEIR TALENT
Been a star since before their debut and i agree with everything in this vid. Hopefully at least one of them sees this vid and brings it to their company
i've been a passive fan since their debut and it just baffles me not to see them just everywhere when they're so talented and puts out really really amazing songs
TH-cam giving me this after their disbandment, I'm gonna cry
I feel like people need to stop trying to make Boys World like everyone else, since that's going to do in the long run is make them indistinguishable from the crowd!
agree so hard!
really good point with their pop sound
Couldn’t agree more Kim Petras and Charli XCX also have dedicated fans for sticking to their pop/hyper pop sounds. Also people are saying pop girls are about to have a big rebirth so they should stick to that.
100% agree !!
Yes! Something in the water and touched by an angel are such fun poppy sounds. I'm frankly tired of rnb but that's just me.
things went from bad to worse. kyn entertainment recently disbanded them due to lack of funds

it’s so refreshing to see someone constructively criticise them and still root for them at the same time, the twitter hate campaign made me lose hope we still had people like this. also ur point about them not letting songs breathe got proven even more this week when they released tbwsc😭 gone girl had the potential to win over their fans who switched up on them but here they go ending the era 2 weeks into it.. in the future, im hoping that if they dont get to do press tours on talk shows/radio shows, we at least get vocal performances like the ones dream academy did (“still into you” for example). and i also hope dream academy/katseye is a wake-up call for kyn and the girls because it’s not looking good

Kyn needs to step up. They haven't done any meaningful promotion since girlfriends era. The girls basically have to fend for themselves and promote on tiktok when that isn't enough. They need to be marketed outside of tiktok cause if not their career is gonna remain stagnant
Also, candidly, only promoting through TikTok makes them seem more like influencers than the musicians that they actually are.
With how TikTok is now, it’s probably better to just promote on TikTok now that there less competition from main stream artist.
i agree a lot with this video but i do feel like the company didn’t take advantage of that momentum they had after Girlfriends released bc not only ppl were tuning in but also their tiktoks were going viral more often. if they were to take the approach FLO did business wise they would be way bigger artists. sure it would’ve been a huge investment but without investment unfortunately there’s less opportunities. Another thing is that when it comes to timing of releasing music they don’t seem to hit the mark, i.e SITW would’ve been a summer hit had they not released it at the end of summer, just like pina colada, i feel like they should’ve released pina before the ep cause then it would’ve fit the summer vibes, and then the ep feels more autumn in my opinion.
can you be more specific when you say "the approach flo did businesswise"?
boys world deserves to be in a label like republic flo are so lucky they’re under a label
we tried to tell them to release pina before the ep and even told them it would work more than mmgai. however, their label didn’t listen to us and we had to suck up for them to actually release it at all
@@ScrumHalfDachshund when cardboard box started to go viral on twt i believe it was a week or two later they announced that they were releasing immature, and then a week after they announcement the song was released on all platforms which is something boysworld lacks bc they tease songs for weeks and by the time they release it, ppl are turned off. also like it was mentioned in the video they don’t do live versions of their songs, which is something flos label made a good move on, bc with only two songs out they sung them live on Vevo live sessions which peaked ppls interest bc they showcased their vocal talents. and then when Flos ep was released they went on a UK/US tour and teased their newer songs. which also correlates with what i said how their label let momentum slip away, boys world should’ve had a tour by the end of 2021. had boysworld label done something similar like Flos team did the girls would be at award shows rn.
@@melonpeach9723 then that’s terrible from the labels part bc that means they don’t care about the audiences opinion. knowing ur audience gets u very far. i just feel like the girls need a better team and management
The letting singles breathe is sooooo important !!!! I’m a casual fan and as silly as it sounds they put out music way too often.
we were begging for them to release new music last year since they only released so what 😭
crazy how they keep putting out music and refuse to promote the music afterwards... like did you think it was gonna work if you kept stacking single after single???
They just disbanded im cryinggg
Ima going to say what everyone isn’t thinking: these girls need to pull a Spice Girls and look for a new management team OR manage themselves. I fully believe the girls are intelligent enough and capable to take their careers in their own hands.
It’s not as easy as you think to “manage yourself”. The industry is about connections, which management tends to have if done well.
I think they need an actual concept direction, member position, and more fleshed-out songs that don't go for less than 3 minutes.
I feel they need a complete rebrand, including a name change.
ik the girls are older & probs don't identify with their bubblegum pop sound anymore, but i thought it suited them & their brand the best. +i always feel like ppl are telling young girls that in order for them to be taken seriously, they need to mature their image when boysworld at their debut (19-17 btw) were just fine being fun & carefree girls. if anything, they should've continued with this sound for a few years before giving us these new, more mature singles.
i agree like bubblegum is fun & need to be valued too! they can enjoy more mature sounds AND love making pop songs too🤷🏾♀️
@@JM-hd3lragree. I love unapologetic poppy pop.😊
2024 gonna be a slew of new western girl groups so hopefully they’ll have a fighting chance

We are in a era where artists are relatable, since kpop is mainstream every artist now as Olivia Rodrigo, Flo, No guidnce or XG are doing it like-
And they may be a group but they look like 5 soloist who are best friends outside the stage and rival on the stage.
Even more little group like Citizen queens seems to have more control and more open fan artist relationship with their fan and we feel the energy of the 4 members.
likeee ive always wondered why are they unknown, i thought they were bigger when i first heard them only to find out they barely have 1m monthly listeners on spotify
this vid explain so much thank youuu
they’ll be reaching 1m listeners soon on spotify w tbwsc 👀
Edit: Apparently MTV's offical channel commented on their Wingman music video 3 years ago and we did NOT see any attempts from the marketing team to latch onto that?!
well.
Big fan since jump! absolutely agreed
7:02: THAT'S AMAZING, I also love her deeper voice! I knew I liked her for a reason!
also have you heard their unreleased song Confessions? it’s gone viral on multiple platforms and even has an ot5 member ai cover, and kyn entertainment has opted not to release it. their best song imo.
Omg No haven’t heard of confessions, I did notice a lot of leaked songs though. I’ll check it out
@@Popfilia please lmk what you think afterwards
I love Confessions! I'm so sad they aren't releasing it, it has hit written ALL OVER IT. Especially with the Due Lipa Future Nostalgia esque vibe of the chorus!
this video really voiced my thoughts, i couldn't get into boys world and i think this is why, all the best for the girls the team needs to get it together though
agree with every you just said. i only got into them earlier this year but i’m disappointed in their career trajectory i expected better. but what i’m about to say has nothing to do with the girls they’re talented, it’s about their label.
i’m sorry but unless they change their management/label, they’re not gonna make it🤷♀️hard truth but kyn entertainment sucks. they had such good momentum with girlfriends but kyn failed to act on the potential and didn’t market or promote them to gain a more wider audience. their management sucks bc ik if their management worked as hard as flo’s after the release of girlfriends, they could’ve been way more successful than they are now.
if they don’t have enough money to promote them then why are they debuting a girl group which is gonna be expensive to handle? tiktok self promotion isn’t enough. they drop a song, the GIRLS promote it by themselves and then after a little time they forget they ever released that song then move onto a new song. their new releases just comes and goes then they disappear. their “eras” are very underwhelming to say the least and that’s their teams fault for not marketing and promoting them well.
and it’s not helping that there are gonna be 2 new girl groups debuting in america next year both under major record labels. vcha is under republic records (one of the best labels) and katseye is under hybe (successful k-pop label) and geffen records (olivia rodrigo’s label) so you just know those groups are about to get a crazy push and huge marketing/promotion campaign meanwhile boys world label don’t do anything 😕 unless kyn does something, once katseye and vcha debut, boys world is unfortunately going to get overshadowed.
don’t get me wrong it’s not the girls fault, they DO have potential to make it, they got some good ass songs in their discography. it just needs better marketing & promotion especially under a better team. hopefully another label sees their potential and signs them to help develop them and invest in them bc kyn? not it.
oh don’t end kyn like that for me
nah didn’t even think about vcha and katseye 😪. i actually do think stars are stable fan base rn but i think there’s probably lots of people who tune in and then leave bc lack of content/promotion so then fandom never really grows
remember when FLO debuted and everyone switched on the girls
I've been passively listening to them since debut. I like them a lot so it's a shame that they're going through this.
they deserve sm i love boysworld
i have been listening to them since girlfriends and love them so much :,) glad to see that i'm not the only person who is pretty sure their company is the reason behind their popularity falling. like they have tiktoks go viral and teasers of songs which don't release until the hype is GONE.
Just wanted to say that intro was amazing.
Ive been a boys world fan since debut. If their marketing was better they would be everywhere. They could headline coachella if they wanted to but their marketing and promotion is holding them back so muchhh
they should hire me
I’ve always hated the name alone like a girl group called boys world? just sounds like their girls living in a boys world which doesn’t line with their image at all should’ve been girls world or something with girl empowerment and idk if you have to explain it then it’s not good! that being said every other point is so valid in this video! it just seems like a bunch of influencers thrown together into a group to gain solo fans they just don’t seem to care about the group as a whole
boys literally stands for best of yourselfs
Yes!! I hate this name. This was the first thing I thought we I found they on yt
@@nva9289Szns has been getting traction? I haven't seen it (other than the upcoming stuff they seem to hsve planned with TikTok music)
Ohhh this is a great vid. Especially as a lessons learned for GG coming on the scene. A group I just got into is KATSEYE from the Dream Academy survival show
I love their music. People nowadays are obsessed with shit slow boring indie music so idk what can be done now
I hope they succeed! They’re so talented and their music is pretty catchy ❤
They have so much potential but they’re being marketed so wrong... and it’s disturbing to see such talent go to waste
i agree with most of the points!! still i have hard time accepting how small their fanbase is considering how skilled they are 😕
I love boysworld!! But They need a better label and they need to stop being inconsistent, you can’t be inconsistent without a solid Fanbase. Like once they get more streams and bigger arenas Then maybe they can be inconsistent with posting on TikTok and Instagram but right now they really need to engage with their fans more.
America is in general not that good with Girlgroups I think. Most of them either dont make it big or fizzle out very quickly
the 90s rnb girlgroup were thriving and very successful tho
I find it odd a bit how they all disappear after a few posts after releases. Like theres not a whole lot of consistency in terms of promo.
i’m glad someone is talking about this because i thought i was going crazy
their first ep was so great too
i don’t really know much about Boys World. i’ve only seen like maybe one or two of their music videos (can’t remember the names). from what i can remember, i wasn’t too fond of the music video and lyrics. ngl, they gave me addison rae tiktok vibes; and the lyrics to the music videos were quite generic. i feel like if they give off vibes similar to Destiny’s Child, Spice Girls, and Little Mix, they could get popular (they also need a better creative team and marketing team). i guess since i’ve been a kpop fan for about 10 years, i get somewhat picky and have high expectations when it comes to non-korean groups. the only non-korean girl groups that i have been excited for are XG and Atarashii Gakko.
Just wait for katseye 🔥
So what is my favorite and Pina colada is my second favorite! I’ve been following them since the beginning. I feel like they’ve been switching concept/genre too much. In my opinion, they should just stick to one or two concept/genre and switch when they actually have a strong and loyal fan base.
They are a good group and interact with fans on social media as much as possible so they stay connected with fans any possible when they are not busy. They are on every possible social media outlet just gotta look for it and discover it anytime.
This is so hard to hear...
Please do a vodeo on Now United next! I always wondered why no one seems to know them here in the US but they have a huge fanbase overseas and win several awards.
yesss i used to love now united!! it’s a shame that members are leaving now, and yeah i’ve always wondered why they weren’t as popular in the U.S
is citizen queen in the same situation? as in not as big as they could be right now, although it may be a budget thing.
Citizen Queen funny enough is in a slightly better position. I’ve been watching them for a while and they’ve been moving way better maybe I’ll do a video on them
Girlfriends over boyfriendss🔥🏝️
I HATE THEIR LABEL
like to see them do more busking in different US cities and if they need capital or just views do promo in the Ph they would def pay and prob get easy guesting in the media over there.
the fashion was giving disney, i thought they were friends that just suddenly wants to make a group
Just wait for biggest group gonna debut this june american global group trained under kpop training under hybe and geffan🔥 all the same system as kpop but global pop group they gonna blow the pop world
i like how they dont wear minimal clothes and be hypersexuaI
Can you talk ab the girlgroup RLY? They were on the uk xfactor in 2019 and won (it was like a group version of xfactor). It would just be interesting to see your take on them since they did have interest before their debut and kind of had a different promo strategy to BW. They also have two songs out too
Their outfits on tours must be unique to each other so they'll have their individuality.
they shouldve gone hard on the tiktok marketing after girlfriends went viral on tiktok
Wow I didn’t know it went viral, I just knew it was their more popular song. Thanks for the info
They are good something in the water is a bop they feel like GRL who were a group in 2014 their song vacation sounds like something in the water but they had backing by robin antin & they need geffin or even polydor in uk they have massive potential they should of had something in the water in the barbie movie tbh such a shame 😀
Oh yeah I remember GRL! Yeah the hardest thing is getting financial backing
@@Popfilia yep deffo grl was so sad & could of been huge would like boys world to take the mantle but need be quick 😀
their second EP let me down, the first one is way better and had better visuals
Definitely!
you’re so real for this. they felt like they had a cohesive sound in the first ep
@@melonpeach9723 it makes me sad but i feel it started going downhill when they got directly involved in the writing of songs☹️☹️
@@rosanah.9089 They have the potential to write really good songs, but their label needs to narrow them down to a specific concept. They're making too many different genre's that 'Boys World' isn't really a sound, just a group that releases any type of music.
True! And I'm not happy to say this but it seems like the more creative input they get, the more subpar the music becomes :-\
unrelated but your voice sounds so much like everglow up's, is it just me who hears it? 😭😭😭
They are very talented but company needs to level up the game since the biggest american gg is coming under big company like hybe can easily take over they gonna rule the pop world without doubt!!
They should collab with Boygenius.
they would’ve fit so well with their song funeral as a feature
Non capisco se le stai criticando o cosa ma io le adoro, mi ricordano le Spice Girls! 🤗🤗🤗
she’s criticizing their team
not a fan of them, but they seem really talented 😢
they were😢
i like boyz world but the music is so booty
I would not trust you music opinions ever
I just hate their name
it stands for best of yourselfs
Alongside the acronym, i think it's a playful take on the old "its a man's world, but it would be nothing without a woman or a girl"
THEIR MUSIC SUX BIG TIME THATS WHY NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION. FLO DEBUTED OUT OF NOWHERE AND BUILT A SOLID FAN BASE BECAUSE OF HIGH QUALITY MUSIC. THEIR LABEL IS WASTING THEIR TALENT
weirdo
Flo's first single went viral on Twitter/X and that helped them a lot.
@@vasinvinnesha9034 y because their debut song was great.
@@babybop9817 girlfriends went viral too💀
Been a star since before their debut and i agree with everything in this vid. Hopefully at least one of them sees this vid and brings it to their company
i've acc never heard of these girls omg but this was really interesting
They could get really big with the right marketing
