Thanks for the great review. I've been thinking of getting this cam but just worried about what kind of Sim card too get but your review took all the worry away. Thanks again, now I can get one.
There is a way to mount the solar panel with a smaller strap. There should be a little plate you can screw into the mounting arm, and then the smaller strap will fit. Not sure if all that came with your camera, but so far it looks pretty similar to their trackmix camera.
I have three cameras from this manufacturer on my house with wi-fi. I only have a couple complaints and it revolves around SD card and recording and even accessing the camera. There's constant failures every day. I did just install one of the 4G cameras on my vacation property. I would highly recommend making sure you have excellent cell service wherever you decide to put this. Because it's on the T-Mobile Network. It would be nice if they made these cameras work on both cell networks like a lot of functioning trail cameras.

Like these, dont have to go ask a BOx Store asst get a supervisor and get a key for spray paint.
This is the first cold spell I've had mine in, and it seems to be working fine. The ReoLink GO PT PLUS I've had out all of last winter and never had any trouble
Our Keen just recently stopped working at end of October; installed it this Spring. Worked great until it didn't. App would not connect and gave a "Charge battery now" message. Checked connecter and moved solar panel to more direct sunlight. No luck yet.
The upside to using a security camera in the woods is WI-FI. Putting a router in range of your "trail cam" gives you free unlimited access to the camera. I collected over 80,000 trail cam videos in 2023 alone on two cameras alone.
Jase, Mbps is not the same as MBps. Mbps with the lowercase "b" is Mega-bits-per-second. If your data plan is 2 GigaBytes, then that is the equivalent of 16 Giga-bits. At 2 Mbps, it would take about 2 hours of continuous video to consume your data for the month.
This seems very similar to the Reolink GO PT plus. it says trail camera but can I use the Keen instead of the GO PT? Seems like it has the same options. Do you recommend one over the other for off the grid security purposes? I prefer the Camo over the white.
I’m sorry I meant to say For security around a cabin would you choose GO PT Plus or the KEEN. I don’t wanna sacrifice any quality or usability just because it’s camo.
They are really the same. I think they just slapped camo onto the Plus. On their website it says it has animal detect on the KEEN but I'm not finding that to be true
DAMN, the main question I have was not addressed. Does this camera provide live-view only mode even when it may not be recording at the time you want to live-view with the camera? I can't get anyone to answer this very basic question on all the TH-cam videos. At least sir you did address the other question I had that everyone else left out and that was how to get service data without wifi on site? The answer is to get a sim card and a cell provider to hook up monthly service with (just like another cell phone basically but at least the monthly rates seem quite lower with certain sim cards you can go purchase at some cell phone service provider.
Probably aren't getting any answers cause I'm not sure it's understandable. You can have live whenever you want it. It's live. So if something comes in and it starts recording you can login and watch live AND record it. I do it all the time. Though sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times to connect. Hope that answers your question, otherwise I'm really not sure what you mean
The PT, the PT Go Plus and Keen all have a known charger port issue that shows up a month or two after the warranty expires. Too bad all three cameras are good. They need to fix this issue.
🙂Good video and review. But I can't see something important... on the effective quality settings available on the cam, particularly: which resolution at wich FPS? (I would need more than 15 fps). Other question: is it possible to delete some clips on the SD in remote mode with the APP, in order to gain space on the SD itself? At the end: wich kind of file video I will found on the Sd? It will be editable from the normal video editing software like Adobe Premiere ecc? Thank you.
Highest resolution should be set at the highest frame rate 15fps. You can format the SD card from the app but there's really no reason to try and free space. It just records over the previous clips so you'll never run out of room. I believe the clips are MP4 files and are editable in Premiere. That's what I used to put this video together. Thanks for watching
@@JaseOutdoors Thank you, infact I did not well the question.. I intended if it is possible to have 25 fps, for example, at 1080p? And: it is possible to delete from the app a single clip? This because I would put the camera on a high tree for a long period, and deleting single files may create space on the SD, without overwriting files that would be important, and without formatting obviously, to take all the good files at the end of the period.
@@falchindiretta 15 fps is the highest frame rate it'll go. I don't believe when you delete a file from the app that it actually deletes the file on the SD card. You'd probably have to turn the overwrite option off and go-to the cam and dump all the files onto a computer. But again, you can save the files you want directly to your phone in high quality so I never worried about the SD card . It just uses up more data on your plan if you're downloading the files from your app
@@JaseOutdoors This is a top question asked by Jerry, as I want to use such a camera for farm yard security, and have watched many reviews and read many comments looking for the answer, but it never gets mentioned, like we are just meant to know the answer. Hi Jace, Good video. Thanks for doing that. I have a question about viewing your videos. As I understand you only use data in larger amounts when you watch the videos from your app. Does the camera send you a thumbnail so that you can see what the video is about before using data to watch the video? For instance, if a coyote is detected and the camera makes a video, I'd rather not watch it. Same with a doe coming through. A thumb nail would let me know if I was going to watch the video or ignore it.
Yes, it actually gives you a video thumbnail so I can decide if you want to watch it or not. Takes a lil bit to load them if there's a lot of thumbnails though
Do you know if the rechargeable battery within the camera is replaceable once it can no longer handle holding a charge, or is it basically a doorstop at that point?
What about the remote ? Reolink Argus pt has a super sensitive up and down remote!😏 what about keen ?? Did they fix that issue ? Left and right with Reolink Argus pt was great, but up and down is terrible 😞
Hi Jase, what difference have you noticed between the Go PT and the KEEN other than its in camo? I painted my Go PTs and they work pretty good to date.
Mostly in the app is where the difference is. I wouldn't say there's a huge difference between the Go PT PLUS and the keen. There quite a few things different than just the Go PT. Quality is better, the thumbnails are viewable, person vehicle detection , and being able to select the object size motion. Not sure what the price difference is between the two, but if the Keen is only a lil more, I'd def go with that one. Hope that helps

Or is there any other that I should look at? Responsiveness is important to me (meaning I want the least amount of delay time in notifications. Thank you man.
For home surveillance, how do you want to power your camera? What type of internet access you want? Reolink also has battery powered wifi camera, keen ranger is battery powered 4G camera 😊
Thanks for your video. Do you now if I can configure it for take one photo by day ? I need to take just photos and not videos at the same hour each day, cheers from Chile!
Yea, sorta of. You can put it in time lapse mode and it'll take photos at a selected time of day but I think the shortest time frame would be 10 seconds. So ultimately you'd end up with a couple photos
I reset my camera several times today when it disconnected for several hours. Now it seems to be connecting again but how do I get it back on the app now that the password and username were changed by the reset? The webpage or instructions dont say how
Meaning, it has an alert for people and vehicles so you know right away what the motion was. Wish it had an alert for deer. Sometimes it thinks a deer is a person so when I get a notification that a person was detected I get nervous for trespassers. Hah
Yea, biggest fault of the cam is detection isn't very far but it reaches farther than that. I've had it reach to 20 yards but 15 yards is pretty consistent

Curious because someone said you get 2 hours of continuous video and where we hunt, tveres bait so i could literally get 2 hours of video every day lol thabks for and clarification.
It uses data when viewing the videos and if you're watching a live view. It plays parts of the thumbnail for you so you don't have to waste clicking the video to see what's in it. Very help for false triggers. If you do hit play you can watch for however long you'd like. Not sure about the two hours of continuous video, it would greatly depend on your sim card plan. Just FYI I was trying to buy one of these yesterday from their website and it says it is not available until late summer. I have 3 of their white ones and they work great.
@@JaseOutdoors Their website now says pre order for Aug 14 estimated delivery. yesterday it actually said order but then wouldn't let you buy it. I will buy one whenever they are available.
Oh good. Let me know how it works out for ya. Pretty cool unit. PIR sensor doesn't reach exceptionally far but they have been producing reliable cameras.
@@JaseOutdoors yeah for sure. I love the ability to log in and see it live or move it to check a plot. I have had some issues with coons and they just last week tore one down.
In the specifications the site says it has a 16x digital zoom. I missed that if you reviewed it! Does the one you have zoom? How far is the image good for game evaluation or people identification across an open field? Nice review! Thanks!
If you have it on for live viewing, how far does the resolution allow you to evaluate game or identify a person, say across a field or large food plot? Just a guesstimate!
Tough one to answer. I've zoomed in across a field 200 yards and could tell the difference between a strutter turkey and a hen, so you can easily identify what the object is, but you wouldn't be able to count points on a buck. So I'd bet at 250 yards you could tell the difference between a person or a deer, you just wouldn't be able to tell what the person looks like. Hope this helps
Jase thanks for the in depth review. I've been reviewing their cameras for awhile and grabbing one of these to add to my cameras. I had a couple questions. You touched on it briefly but when does the data plan get used? Is it only when you go live? Or is there a way in the app to preview without a big data consumption? Curious based off your testing of their cams. I guess also you do have some control over how big each motion/clip is. Thank you again. Hopefully their cameras ship sooner than August.
Appreciate that! The data plan will be used any time you view live or view the clips previously recorded. That's why it's nice that they give you a thumbnail preview now so you don't have to waist data watching something you don't need to. I'm sure it uses an super small amount of data to view the thumbnails as well but so small it probably wasn't worth mentioning. If u keep it on fluent mode it uses very small amount of data. They told me they were launching it yesterday so I just assumed they'd have them available. Guess not. Let me know when you get it and how it works for ya
@@JaseOutdoors Thanks. Yeah I will have to play with the idea. Obviously I wanted an all video solution. The other brands on the market obviously a blend of pictures and video. I find this gives you much better quality for the buck. Also they don't charge you a ton for added features like some others due for app use. One last question. Do you find this camera to be exactly the same feature based as their Reolink Go PT? Besides being camo? I wonder if detection or anything else was improved. Sounds good I'll let you know how it works when i get it.
I feel like it's the exact same cam as the PT Plus. On their website it says it has animal detection but I sure don't see it. Just a few different features in the app like the size detection. The PIR sensor distance is slightly disappointing. It's about 15 yards and not much farther
@@JaseOutdoors Thanks I'll keep you posted what I think. Yeah 15 yards is a little short for some situations like fields or food plots in my case. But if there is time lapse options that could be nice too. I figured it was better to order the new one as the cost is pretty close with the promo w/coupon they are running compared to the PT Plus. I considered just getting that and painting the parts camo or green style.
It does have a time lapse option, but I honestly never used it. I would think that would kill the battery pretty quick. Id be interested in seeing how it handled he file after the time lapse. I should do one just to see. That'd be a great way to watch a food plot as to where the deer enter and exit and wouldn't have to be right in front of the camera
Good review. Is this camera good just for security purposes spotting people? That is what I would use it for. Can it be run just from the battery? Thanks!
It's good for watching whatever you'd like that uses a cellular network to transmit videos. It can be run from just the battery but then your have to take it down to recharge it. I got over a month of battery life without the solar panel. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video - could this camera be mounted from the top, under a roof,? I mean, could it be mounted with the bracket at the top if the camera rotates? or does it have to be mounted only from the back directly behind the camera, t, given where the screws go.

If you want to use your Verizon account to manage these cameras, look for another camera!! Better check with verizon before purchasing these to be sure you can use them if you use verizon.
Correct, no zoom. I thought when mine was doing that it was because of bad reception and the video would try to catch up to itself as it lagged from downloading. Now I'm not so sure
Thanks bro! Yea, it's pretty much the same except for a few features in the app. It's supposed to have animal detection but I received a demo version and mine doesn't have it
They all require their own sim card of your choice, so unless a company offers multiple sim cards on the same plan, typically you pay per sim card. I haven't looked that far into it. Would be nice to split a data plan between multiple cams
I do believe you can set certain record times so you should be able to disable during the night hours. I can't check for you because mine doesn't work anymore. I didn't have it hung right and it filled up with water 🤦
Lithium batteries should not be charged below 32f so tha is probably why the 'solar panel' does not charge below 32f. It's the battery tha is the limit.

You just push on the sim card itself and it'll pop up. Glad u got it though
@@JaseOutdoors OK thanks. Yes your review helped my decision 👏
Just FYI I was trying to buy one of these yesterday from their website and it says it is not available until late summer. I have 3 of their white ones and they work great.
Hmm.. I'll check with them but they told me that they were launching them today, which is why I rushed to get this video done. Heh
Oh dang!
Do you know if it's a 1/4 20 insert on the solar panel? can't use screws on public land.
Yes, it is. 1/4 20 on the solar panel. Unfortunately there's no easy way to hang the solar panel without screws
@@JaseOutdoors Thinking about trying a mount that's made for trail cameras on it
Let me know how it works out for you. Thanks!

Good review but 15 fps is low. 30 is minimal for me...
In the specifications the site says it has a 16x digital zoom. I missed that if you reviewed it!
Does the one you have zoom?
How far is the image good for game evaluation or people identification across an open field?
Nice review! Thanks!
I'm not aware of a digital zoom. You can zoom in on the app so I guess that's what that means.
As far as distance, you're looking at about 20 yards max that it'll detect motion
Yes, thanks for the reply!
That would be an interesting topic for a video!
Do they have a Wifi version?
I believe they have several versions for security around your house that connect to wifi
I can’t get my camera to send an email to my phone and I’ve tried everything
Hmm, I never tried to use the email function so I won't be of much help. Might just want to contact them and see if they can help
Can you please tell how to delete existing video clips?
You got me. I've never tried to delete videos before and since you asked I tried and I'm not really sure. Sorry!
@@JaseOutdoors if you find out please let me know. I can’t believe there is no way to do it
Will do!
@@JaseOutdoors You're welcome Jase, thanks for the reply. Also does this camera included any kind of anti theft protection, such as GPS tracking?
@@ericwright8498 no, nothing like that. Only thing is to replace the supplied screws with longer ones and screw it up out of reach
Thanks Jase yes good suggestions 👍
Thanks for the video - could this camera be mounted from the top, under a roof,? I mean, could it be mounted with the bracket at the top if the camera rotates? or does it have to be mounted only from the back directly behind the camera, t, given where the screws go.
You can mount it from the top
Can you use one data plan for multiple cameras on the flexiboom?
I don't believe so. Each sim card uses its own plan
How did it do with night vision?
Night vision works well! The LEDs do glow a bit but once motion is detected it automatically illuminates the whole area
@@JaseOutdoors Now you have confused me, going back to Jerry's question "What will the thief see at night?"
You answered "It is no glow so they won't see anything"

Back to Jerry's question, What will the thief see at night ???
REOLINK GO PT PLUS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VERIZON… I spent 2 hours on the phone today attempting to add two REOLINK GO PT Plus cameras to my Verizon account. The IMEI numbers on the cameras would not be accepted on line with Verizon and I got the error message to contact customer support. Customer support told me Verizon would not support these cameras on their wireless network and told me to try two different cameras the names for which the Verizon tech provided. If you want to use your Verizon account to manage these cameras, look for another camera!! Better check with verizon before purchasing these to be sure you can use them if you use verizon.
Thank you.
I have Verizon and was hoping this would work.
Do you have any recommendations for a similar camera that works on Verizon?
I was wondering if could tell me why my videos are recorded in fast forward mode. Videos looked sped up.
I have got that a few times too. Is your camera placed in an area with good reception?
5 bars
It has no zoom correct?
Correct, no zoom. I thought when mine was doing that it was because of bad reception and the video would try to catch up to itself as it lagged from downloading. Now I'm not so sure
I did find a mount that I use on my winghome solar panels to use on the solar panel. Seems to work ok
Does this solar panel need direct sunlight to charge. My camera dropped to 75% in just 5 days
Yea it needs good sunlight
Do you have to pay riolink a yearly fee on top of the data costs that you already have to pay to Flexiboom?
What I mean is, do you have to buy cloud storage like you do with Ring?
No, you just pay the monthly payment to whatever sim card you choose. I
Love your videos! How dose it do in low signal areas?
With US mobile sim card it does pretty well!
Thats weird theres no strap for solar panel..

Great review Jase. Hope you're doing well. Is this the same as the go pt just in camo?
Thanks bro! Yea, it's pretty much the same except for a few features in the app. It's supposed to have animal detection but I received a demo version and mine doesn't have it
Can anyone give feedback about battery life? That’s the main issue will all cellular cameras.
With the solar panel there is no battery issue. It just stays charged with good sunlight even though winter
The brand 4g camera I have is solar powered and it’s charging.. but the battery isn’t keeping the charge. The life of the battery is poor
I haven't had mine long enough to find out yet. Been 2 years and so far so good. I have other Reolink for 4 years and still going good
How much data does it use per hour?
I've never watched it for an hour. When it detects motion it records it and you watch the clip. I have 500mb per month and I never go over
camera is camo, but the solar panel is invisible.
🤣. Just gotta put that thing way up in the tree
You did not mention if the camera work at night.
Yes, it works at night
Is it water proof?
Yep 👍
Cool!!
FPS looks like under 24 ?
Can you run multiple cameras on same data plan?
They all require their own sim card of your choice, so unless a company offers multiple sim cards on the same plan, typically you pay per sim card. I haven't looked that far into it. Would be nice to split a data plan between multiple cams

Thanks, witch data / sim did you end up using again?

@@JaseOutdoorsyes, I need to be able to disable any night vision and infra red.
I do believe you can set certain record times so you should be able to disable during the night hours. I can't check for you because mine doesn't work anymore. I didn't have it hung right and it filled up with water 🤦
For the price I will just stick with the Go PT Plus and paint it.
Yea 👍
Is it essentially the exact same camera, but with camo instead of white?
Basically but there's some different features in the app, that honestly I don't even use
@@JaseOutdoors it says in the features it has animal detection?! I thought that was the difference...
IR is different. 10pcs vs 6pcs and no red light
Lithium batteries should not be charged below 32f so tha is probably why the 'solar panel' does not charge below 32f. It's the battery tha is the limit.
I just leave them up all year with the solar panel attached. Zero problems so far but we'll see
Yearly cell plan cost $120 now June 2023
Using what sim card?
my battery died fast in the winter,, maybe too much clouds
