    From Keeley on the tone control: "The Tone Control is our own design taken from analog delays and other vintage effects. Those effects used an emphasis circuit to recover treble and highs after they went through the BBD or other analog delay lines. We took that circuit and made it into a full fledged tone control! We found that it was the perfect way to gently add back in highs lost in the compression process."

    Thank you for accurately illustrating what a compressor does. I cringe so hard every time someone in your position tries to explain it, but actually has no idea and never really seem to have grasped it either...more often than not the case! You nailed it! Props!

    I think this is my fav vid from Eytsch however you pronounce or say that, I have no idea. We know know this comp pedal plus is the addition of an expander circuit on the output side of the legend 4 knob comp circuit which adds to the sustain quality and beautiful sound of the pedal. RK has given us a better version of what was already the best comp pedal around at HALF the price! Tip of the hat and a thank you to RK some of us get who cool this is and the price is silly low.
    This puppy just might be the best pedal of 2017 and maybe 2018 for sure as a compressor pedal it is so much more, overdrives an amp better than most overdrives, highly versatile. Those who hate comp pedals have not tried this one.
    Personally, you could not give me one of the old style 2 knob deals I hated them.
    What Keeley has done for the guitar compressor is the stuff of legend. Wicked pedal and funny video, got to love this guy, and often shows some brilliant playing. Must be the wealthiest guitarist in Germany, that wall of amps and the array of switching options, cool guitars. Shhhhhhh, it's a secret...

    Saw this video a short while back and auditioned one at my local guitar shop - then bought it. I think you got the review spot-on as it does compress but also acts as a great little boost as well. Love it. Keep up the good work.

    Just by chance I tried one on a clean tone at a guitar store (center), ahem... and it knocked my socks off. It wasn't an OD, or distortion, and wasn't my idea of a compressor, but it was like a guitar "enhancer". I never use a compressor, but I am now since I bought the thing, and put it first in line on my board, because that's where it does it's best. Killer, great tones, nice boost for natural OD, and really sweetens up any sound you throw at it. Nice that it has a single coil and HB switch, both effective at their intended mission. Don't know how I lived without this.

    This seems like Keeley put the comp that is in the Tone Workstation into a separate pedal. Which is brilliant news as that comp is simply awesome!

    Thank you, I just ordered one after not being completely thrilled with the Boss CS-3, so I’m hoping to justify buying the thing, nobody has one in stock local so my only option is TH-cam and I feel like this is by far the best play around with it I’ve seen... appreciate it... I’m still not convinced it’s what I’m looking for but it seems closer than the Boss for sure...

    So to be clear, the single coil/humbucker switch is there instead of an 'attack' knob. Is that what you want?

  • @timwhite5562
    @timwhite5562 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My first question within the first couple minutes seeing what the added features are, and having owned both the 2 and later the 4 knob Keeley comp, is; how is it $70 less than the 4 knob?
    I have always had a somewhat odd love affair, boarding in a fetish with compressors. It's odd because, well, it's just kind of an odd effect to have a fetish for, but I still own 7 or 8. My first was a Dyna Comp that I bought just because David Gilmour had used them, I didn't even really know what it was for beyond the ubiquitous "even notes and added sustain." The first time I set it with the compression at 9:30/10:00, and played a few arpeggiated chords with a Strat into a clean DRRI, I loved IT.
    I made the mistake early on that many do, namely using it as an "always on" effect. it made everything sound better, so why not? A month 2 after using it all the time,then turning it off because I needed to play something that required dynamic picking, I realized WHY it's maybe not a good idea to use them all the time: my picking and fretting technique has devolved and suffered considerably, it became an unintended crutch. I've been switching between a BYOC 5-Knob and a micro Philosophers Tone both for their blend feature.
