Andy is becoming a guitar hero, even though they're covers, he learns to interpret them, and make the pedals he advertises shine through his performance. I've watched over the years, and as a brit of old school rock with prog, and a broad church of music in my taste (it's all good if it sounds good, No? ), he has inspired me to learn the occasional riff, quite often.
This pedal was delivered to me today, knocked me on my ass. I've been chasing that glassy, chorus-drenched Flesh for Fantasy tone for months, this compressor delivered. My first try at a Keeley pedal, not disappointed
I used to look at Compressors and think "why?". It doesn't make your guitar go "wobbly-wobbly", doesn't do echoes, doesn't make it sound like a cranked Marshall stack. Now that I've come to appreciate the nuances of good tone I understand their use Just bought one of these and for me it's a game-changer. Might just be the best pedal I've ever bought.
Today, I got curious and temporarily replaced my Keeley Compressor Plus with an old Script Logo MXR DynaComp that I still had. While I loved the DynaComp's pumping and breathing action, it reminded me quickly why I got the Keeley in the first place. Robert Keeley makes a QUIET compressor! It's a miracle.

I just got one of these. It does it all. I use it for slap bass (lately I've been using it all the time for bass), I use it in front of an overdrive or distortion to get a more saturated sound without ruining the tone, and it absolutely nails that compressed Telecaster country/rockabilly sound and baritone spaghetti western tone if you put a little reverb after it.
Perfect presentation. I love when you clicked off the compressor at the end and then turned it back on with a wicked smile. Oh, well, time to break the piggy bank...AGAIN! Thanks Andy!
I just picked this Compressor up and I am VERY impressed. Super clean boost that is absolutely silent when turned off. This pedal adds just the right amount of hair to my JMP50. It absolutely blows everything else right off my board. Right now I’m experimenting with the Metropoulos SUPA Boost right after the C+ and the tone is fabulous. So far I’m getting Dimed Marshall Tones that are free of extraneous noise with more tonal character. It’s a very clean tube saturated tone. One of the best pedals I have ever bought and has improved the tone of my JMP50 100%. Do yourself a favor and pick this pedal up!
That is the main advancement of this new version of the 4 knob. The ability to handle humbuckers with the old one was a definite short coming. Not with this one.

Fantastic demo, as usual. This one goes on the to-buy list for sure. I am curious about one thing, have you tried it out on a bass? I play guitar and bass and having one compressor to cover both would be nice, though I realize that might be a tall order.
This new version of the 4 knob is particularly suited for bass, especially if you want a vintage compressor sound to fatten up the bass sound. If you are wanting crystal clear compression with no sustain part, just limiting, the Bassist Compressor works perfectly well on bass and guitar.
Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like I have plenty of options. This new version of the 4-knob compressor looks great. I think it would suit my needs nicely.
The SP is quite noisy at medium and high levels of comp; I bought one and had to return it. I'm not sure about this one from Keeley but my favourite compressor is from Diamond.
Joshua Hirshfeld The The previous four knob Keeley Compressor was loud with my strat and a JHS Twin Twelve overdrive through a clean Marshall. But this new one seems an improvement on the last one. ----And the SP I tried out was noisy as well. Couldn't get a clean or low gain sound I liked.
Just a note...Compressors don't add noise, they only make quiet stuff louder. This means that if you have the any noise, 60 cycle hum, interference, you will hear it louder. This is not the fault of the SP or any compressor.
ProGuitarShopDemos I understand this. But there have been differences in the level of "static" noise I could hear trying to compare the two. I used a clean nearly "noiseless" channel on my DSL40C. Do you think there was something wrong with the pedal?
At first glance this looks and sounds like a great compressor for the money, but after some thought, the 'Single Coil' 'Humbucker' switch doesn't do it for me since all single coils and humbuckers have different frequencies and output profiles. And that's what's missing...an Attack control, in my opinion, where you can customize for your pickups.
I finally got one, but it's absolutely unuseable, because of noise. It's fine clean, but as soon as I switch on the slightest bit of gain or overdrive (like Boss OD3), the noise is louder than my guitar playing. Unbearable. So sorry, I was looking forward to it sooo much. But after 3 minutes you just need to switch it of, otherwise it drives you nuts. I tried everything, like changing the position, changing to battery power, changing power cables, removing all other pedals - nothing will make the noise go away.

You could probably use this direct into a board or PA and get decent results.
