I got an Associate degree in Audio Production as well as a bachelors in Business Law. Prior to school, I was 100% self taught via TH-cam videos on how to audio engineer. I started my own home studio and grew clientele for about 4 years before I ever stepped into a class room. Getting my audio production Degree was a wonderful choice and I highly recommend it, even if you’re self taught. Getting the degree gave me confidence to pursue legit recording studio positions, and I landed a contract with a record label before I graduated. I got the opportunity to engineer dozens of artist for the label and also engineered “Benihibachi” by Billionaire Black, which is at over 5.5 million views on TH-cam
@@dhruvprataptanwar46 I got my Associate degree in audio production from Phoenix College. The record label is named “Cactus Music Group”. I currently work independently so I have more flexibility while I get my Bachelors degree from Arizona State University. I’m also doing all of this after dropping out of highschool back in 2013 due to living circumstances. I got my GED in 2018
In my personal opinion go to school I promise you if your talented and you got hard work then school can help and I also agree you don’t need an degree to get ahead but imagine you knowing all the higher ups due to you going to school. You essentially just kut years of grinding to get to a particular part in the industry this is a business at the end of the day and if you don’t know it because you wasn’t taught you can’t get mad at the results that’s why most producer that are famous or who had success went to school they might didn’t finish but they went for the relationship expansion is key if you can touch a 1’000 people from just school rather then being at home assuming what this guys says on yt is correct you also can’t be mad at the result.
I’d Agree it’s a waste of money but i think the connections help a lot with doing music production in college other than doing it and learning it on your own
This sounds great if you’re willing to do it the hard way. Getting a formal degree in audio production is always going to give you an edge over someone who is self taught.
Yep! I agree about what you say about a Music Production Degree. My son started studied Music Production for 1 semester and then he quit, because he said it is a waist of money (not of time!) and he can learn everything he needs to know a lot cheaper somewhere else.
I know music production well , I produce my own songs , I’ve learned all through youtube , But sometimes I feel I need a degree , I’m from India and I was planning to study in Canada , help me out sir.
Your channel deserves wayyy more subs broo. Super essential videos, super helpful information and great channel idea. Keep grindinnn. Also if you really wanna make music, i think nothing can stop you from being a sound engineer, producer, even if you dont have a degree but it can be helpful
Thanks man! I've been uploading daily, so this channel has been growing a decent amount. And I completely agree - I think it's more about the knowledge you gain from a school rather than the degree itself, although it doesn't hurt
