SEVEN TO ETERNITY Jerome Opena was the artist I was trying to remember! His work is awesome and you can find a video here: th-cam.com/video/uSi1BzGVIM4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RichardFriend
I have the Maxx gallery edition and Batman secrets gallery edition. I can just stare at those pages. I would pay $$$ for a gallery edition of his marvel comics presents run. That work is my fave of his. Tied with the darker image special of Maxx
If Gil Kane then .. check out .. What If # 3 .. Gil Kane / Klaus Janson . If John Byrne .. then .. check out .. Marvel Two in One # 50 .. John Byrne / Joe Sinnott .. ( or Byrne's .. his earlier stuff .. his Iron Fist run , 1-15 ) .. Enjoy the " 10 Minute Series " .. Thanks Rich .
I miss that style of maniac inking, the tools quality aren't there anymore so we may never see that quality ever again and digital isn't up to that level. His flourishes in that first Wolverine page with the title are simple amazing.
@@RichardFriendartist You are welcome! I love your video breakdown on artists, ironically they make a good companion while drawing. Oh and also I can recommend Daisuke Ishiwatari as well. He is known for Guilty Gear, a video game series in which he makes the music as well, dude is mad talented. In an interview he said Bastard was an influence, which I know you enjoyed visually.
I believe Sam has a pinch of Sergio Toppi in him too By the way, and now for something completely different, I believe you haven't made a video about Al Williamson yet
Marvel Comics Presents had Weapon X as the main attraction an then Jae Lee debuted on a Beast serial, Joe Madureira did a Northstar thing, and then the main thing became Sam Kieth’s Wolverine, written by Peter David. And I mention David because I think Kieth’s powers work best when he has a writer. As much as I admire his technique, Kieth is not my cup of tea: way too reminiscent of Suydam for my taste. Something out of your comfort zone: Guido Crepax.
Hey Rich! why don't you dive more into the French-Belgique comic artists? I can't find anyone on TH-cam teaching about them. and I think they deserve some highlights, don't you agree? Artists such as: Turk, Eddy Paape, Dupa, Maurice Marechal, Jean Graton, Tibet, and Derib.
Love Keith’s work he’s amazing such great shapes wish he had more work out there to get. u mention John k I used to love his work was gutted to find he was so dodgy grooming teens n stuff so weird

Sam kieth is such a great unique artist, he by far had the best wolverine in my opinion.
Collected The Maxx for years Kieth is goated
Yes!! Thank you 🙏
it went a bit long. I knew I'd grabbed too many files but we'll consider it a celebration of cracking 2 million views here!
His art is so unique and beautiful
Loving this series
You rule Rich!!
Sam is notoriously reclusive, his old friends have trouble contacting him
Keith was one of my favorite artists
What’s up Dude!!! U have been killing it lately so much uploads so much art still catching up but thanks so much
wish we could have seen some maxx stuff, but this was cool.
this should hit 100 likes so we'll for sure return to him!
@@RichardFriendartist Cool! Thanks!
Congratulations! I probably pushed you over 2 million that time I watched a video 600,000 times
thanks!
Lol 😆
That was amazing, thank you
Gene colan had some fantastic stuff, he was hit or miss but when he hit, he knocked it out of the park
can you mention any more of the chain? Like who was influenced by him and who do you think inspired Gene? That will help/
Trent kannigua’s work also has vibes of Sam Keith to me

Hey I can recommend you look at Q Hayashida, her work is really rough and "crunchy". Dorohedoro is her most famous series.
I'll for sure check that out thanks!

Do Ashley wood next pls!
Ash is great. I for sure have a few very long ones on him. I think on youtube I have the longest and biggest amount of videos on his work.
I believe Sam has a pinch of Sergio Toppi in him too

I can see Toppi great catch. I'd mentioned Al recently...thanks for reminding me!! (it was in the Star Wars videos I think)

You should do spider zero/Simon Lee.
I miss this era of comic art where someone with a really experimental and psychedelic style could get work on a mainstream superhero book
Love Keith’s work he’s amazing such great shapes wish he had more work out there to get. u mention John k I used to love his work was gutted to find he was so dodgy grooming teens n stuff so weird
SAM KIETH ART MORE INTERESTING AND ENIGMATIC 1000X TIMES THAN NORMATIVE ART BYJIM LEE!
"I'm buying a mansion" hahaha
Break the chain and do Murray, ha!
:)
