@@LUNATOONS_25 yea honestly. Zelda 1 and 2 feel like prototypes to me, it's only reasonable to put them at the bottom. There's no real reason to even play them nowadays, if not out of curiosity about the origins of the series. I have very similar feelings about TotK btw, I stopped playing it after about 40 hours because I got really bored but at the same time overwhelmed with the 3 different overworld layers. I only just started to continue playing it the other day. Twilight Princess used to be my arch nemesis of the Zelda games for a long time, but recently I gave it another chance and despite being a game with a lot of flaws, I've made my peace with it and I'd rank it in middle of my Zelda tier list now. I really enjoyed your video, you've got yourself a new subscriber. Keep up the good work! :)

There were a lot of unexpected rankings here. I’m so used to seeing BOTW/TOTK back to backs and I don’t think I’ve ever seen MC as a top choice(great game). The only Zelda card removal I had was AOL at the end of the list, but I can’t do that because I’m team BOTW/TOTK in the bottom 3 which is apparently sacrilege. I think the only comment I disagreed with was the podcast stating that the OOT formula was about story while BOTW was exploration. I believe the OOT( or ALTTP) formula was about exploration, progression, and story , basically fine tuning the original’s formula. BOTW formula is more free exploration that is its own beast but something we’ve also seen in open world sandbox, not something I would necessarily call fresh or original, to Zelda sure but not to gaming. Also I will die on the hill that the N64 controller was comfortable for its time. I feel the people who hate it the most held the left and right prongs while playing instead of the middle and right.
yeah BOTW just had that colossal impact on the gaming industry that was so fun to me. crazy how just 1 game later i found that formula to become stale. and i dont think the N64 controller is UNCOMFORTABLE necessarily, but the joystick is pretty garbage and the placement of the D Pad and L bumper made them essentially worthless to me haha

I remember playing it and probably midway through it, I felt it was Skyrim or Minecraft(that’s more TOTK now) with a Zelda sticker slapped on it. Admittedly the open world sandbox genre isn’t my favorite, I just wish they melded some aspects of the traditional formula into the new formula instead of tossing it away. I won’t lie though, I was excited for BOTW and discussing with my friends the different paths we took was a lot of fun. I definitely enjoyed it more than TOTK. Open world sand box/survival games have been one of the most popular genres since 2001 and an insane amount of games in this formula has come out since BOTW. It was only a matter of time before the fatigue came. There is no denying that the analog stick was trash especially when Mario Party came out. The dpad and L button is tricky because so few games used them outside of wrestling games. I’ll admit I have some rose tinted glasses on for that controller. I think I also appreciated being a big controller that had grips that fit my hands. The original PlayStation controller was small for no reason and resulted in hand cramps for me.
Majora's Mask needs a revisit maybe the 3DS version, considering both versions it's my number 1. I think it'd go quite a bit up in your personal ranking if you played it again Luna

It was a very memorable experience. The time mechanic was a little stressful, but certainly unique and interesting. The world and side stories were peak as well

Definitely some hot takes here, but nothing wrong that. I was a huge fan of botw and felt like totk improved upon (almost) every aspect. I was overwhelmed at times, because there is TOO much to do, but I feel like its variety is what keeps me going. When I'm bored of doing one aspect, I just go to the chasms, and then change it when I'm bored of that, and the cycle keeps going. With your restaurant analogy, a lot of fine dining sort of places have those super small dishes because you're supposed to have like 10-15 of them. It can be stupid yea, but even if it's treated as a dumb novelty (I'm sure most of those restaurants will admit that lol), they're fun to go through. Minish Cap is definitely a masterpiece though. I am frustrated with how underrated it is. It is probably the most expensive mainline zelda game, but with it finally being on the switch it might finally get the following it deserves. I also feel like it's the best game for someone to start the series with. It's one of the easier titles, and shows off the formula in a simplistic yet effective way. Oh, and Zelda 2 does rule :P
Yeah a vast majority of players don’t seem to have an issue with TOTK structure so I’m definitely in the minority on that one! And I agree Minish Cap is an amazing introductory game. It just feels so inherently ‘Zelda’ and does the 2D Zelda games justice! I’ll have to try Zelda 2 again some day lol
Fair list..so so glad you listed what is true to your taste..my list is also quite different to the majority. I see that tears of the Kingdom Is MUCH lower than breath of the wild..i have played totk but not botw because many have told me that no Need..but your placement makes me doubt that..should i play botw? (Keep in mind i feel as though they have burried what Zelda is all about under the Temple of time ruins..im.very dissapointed with the style) My list- 1-Ocarina of time..still no1 After totk. 2-A link to the past 3-a link between worlds 4-tears of the Kingdom (for the effort and Freedom NOT for the atmosphere..less is more in art style) 5-the Wind wakee 6-twilight princess 7- majoras mask (for the cleverness not the atmosphere) 8-skyward sword 9- links awakening(old havnt played new) 10-the Legend of Zelda 11- the Adventure of link. Other titles i have not played.
I think the greatness of BOTW is partly due to its time of release. It was really one of those games that rocked the gaming industry so idk how much punch it would have now, especially after playing TOTK. That said, it is a fantastic game that I can totally recommend!! Totally respect the list! Its been cool to see everyone’s varying opinions. Nobody’s list is the same it’s great 😄
Don't listen to the people that say to not play botw...even if totk has come out I still think that botw is worth playing for the different story,divine beasts,different abilities,different map(even if it's the same hyrule it's still different than tho one of totk),different memories,side quests and shrines(sorry for my bad english I'm italian)

Bold top choice! I've got Seasons as my personal favorite, cool to see someone else with a similarly unique choice. Definitely some things I didn't agree with, like Tears of the Kingdom being near the bottom. Being that one of my first ever video games was New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a game that boasts only a little novelty, I tend to value games based solely on how fun they are, which is why I have TotK quite high, and why OoT and especially LttP are quite low on my list. @@traviscunningham7062 I've given it a second playthrough since then, and now I have it placed in C tier between Ocarina of Time and Zelda 1. You have to strategize and play a little differently than you would with most of the other 2D Zelda games, and part of my initial frustration was not being able to adapt. I can more clearly see the appeal of the game, but still acknowledge it's a little rough around the edges.
I loved Minish Cap! By far the most nostalgia for a Zelda game I’ve ever had. Also, I appreciate the different perspective on your ranking, tired of always seeing the same Zelda games in the top 3.
Minish Cap is so great and it makes me sad that so many have passed on it! An objective list would probably look like everyone else’s, but my own personal tastes and experiences definitely let me mix it up a bit 👍🏻
I didnt have a Switch when botw came out during my freshman year of college but my TV was very close to my dorm room so whenever i wanted to play handheld I luckily had the range to do so! Also I appreciate the Skyward Sword love!

omg, I love minish cap as well. I felt like it was too short and I hated the library and the shoe quest because they were kind of cryptic with how to start the quest. However, everything else, awesome!

Minish Cap is peak 2D Zelda for me. Link's Awakening was probably the most emotional Zelda game yet the most cheerful one that wasn't afraid to get adult. It was also my first 2D game so that probably plays a part in why it's so high. BotW was my introduction to the series so I'm obviously going to be biased to it.

@@LUNATOONS_25 Singleplayer isn't a bad way to experience those games from what I've heard. Four Swords Adventures is probably the best multiplayer but in singleplayer they just become normal Zelda games.
Yeah, TOTK just didn’t hit the same way as BOTW did for me. Maybe change the art style and take away the ‘shrine’ formula and I could feel differently. Idk Hopefully the more traditional style isn’t gone entirely!
imo it was great for the FIRST time in BoTW - but needed to change a lot in ToTK and they mostly failed big time. a compromise of openworld + classic Zelda with new gameplay (diving!) and a brand new map like Majora after Ocarina - could have been a fantastic game.
@@charliez077 Majora's Mask came out 1 year after Ocarina of Time and it's one of the most creative and unique games of all time. Tears of the Kingdom came out 6 years after Breath of the Wild and it's basically a complete rehash of Breath of the Wild. What happened to Nintendo?

I like the commentary here, but "Phantom Hourglass can be catastrophically ruined if you don't like the touch screen controls" is like saying "Halo can be catastrophically ruined if you don't like guns." That's the main thing that was advertised lol
Idk if that’s a good comparison. Im sure there are plenty of Zelda fans that do or do not enjoy touch controls that still gave these games a shot simply because they were fans of the series and wanted to see if it would work for them. From a story and gameplay standpoint, PHG and ST follow the same formula as all of the other 2D Zelda games. The touch controls are the main differentiator and therefore would be the deciding factor on wether most would enjoy them or not Thanks for the compliment though!

Same. The old formula is so good and I feel if they wanted to continue with the open world stuff, they could definitely still incorporate a lot of the more traditional elements seamlessly

I think you're absolutely wild for putting Majora's mask so low. But you're a hero for recognizing twilight princess for how great it is. Just a perfected version (for the time) of the classic formula established in ALttP. I agree that I pray we can get a new updated version following in TP's footsteps.
As I said in the vid, MM just doesn’t have much of a nostalgic connection with me. Plus, I think adding a timer to any video game stresses me out a little 😄

you played zelda 2 for 1,5 hour and put it aside? come on, play the game, finish it, and THEN rank it. start by grinding the lower point levels, and after thet go to the temples. It is a very nice game, give it a shot!
Yeah I get that, it just didn’t grab me AT ALL so I figured why put more time into it if I wasn’t having even an ounce of fun. I may look back into it one day and give it a better shot!
COMPLETELY agreed with your ToTK ranking, so happy more ppl are finally calling it out after the honeymoon phase (not happy bc I hoped for it to be amazing - but bc I do believe it's very overrated, sadly) incredibly recycled BoTW Hyrule + gameplay + enemies + armor + Koroks etc, Depths are bloated as hell, much from BoTW is unimproved; BoTW was fresh and innovative as hell in 2017 and is imo a FAR superior game than ToTK in 2023
Can’t say I disagree with any of those points! Yeah I recall looking around at everyone having so much fun with it and wondering what I was doing wrong lol It had its moments, but ultimately fell way short of my BOTW experience
@@LUNATOONS_25 100% same here, I also felt crazy seeing all the rave reactions. yes, ToTK has its great MOMENTS (imo the best one is the whole part before Spirit Temple) - but for me the ratio of those moments and the rest ended up painfully insufficient. imo the most overrated game of recent times (and I was HYPED!)
Somehow MC never really clicked for me. I found exploring and traversing the overworld to be tedious, the dungeons to be just so-so, the stone-fusion system with its fetch-quest character abysmal and don't get me even started on THE. WORST. HEART-PIECE in Zelda history: the figurine collection! Good for anyone who was able to enjoy it tho.

I feel about the same as you about TotK and BotW. I locked in almost seven hundred hours in BotW (between Wii U and Switch) and loved it the whole way through. I played TotK for over one-hundred fifty hours and dropped it without beating it. I filled out the entire underground and surface/sky, did four of the five dungeons and many shrines. TotK didn't capture the same magic BotW did for me. I also really don't enjoy the building mechanic, not because it's clunky, but because it just interferes too much with what I enjoyed about BotW. Before I had to consider my route and I enjoyed myself just traversing, now I just spawn a glider for 9 zonaite. lol Scenery also looked better in BotW since it wasn't stained with random stuff and skylands. I got nothing against TotK, but BotW just does it better for me.
sorry but putting tears of the kingdom at 12 is really like really UNACCEPTABLE LIKE WTF I litterally prefer It to botw bro let's be objective LIKE HOWWWW ??!! as much as I love and have played botw (+ 300 hours, much more than totk) totk is litterally better in ALL of the aspects : dungeons, bosses, ennemies, story, charcters, exploration side quests, shrines,... the only big problem with It (there is other issues but this is the main one ig) is that It plays a bit too much like botw but beside of that the game is simply amazing that I have to prefer It just a little to botw cuz of what the game offers even if It has some issues in It. The background stuff is fine but you yourself is low, like you're talking to me before I go to bed, if that makes sense. Just offering positive feedback, no hate whatsoever! The most interesting part about these lists is to see where people place Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. it was my first Zelda game, in fact it was the first video game I ever played, and it has since 1987 occupied a very special place in my heart. I would never go so far as to say it's the best Zelda game, it categorically is not, but it has always hovered around the top of my personal favourite list, even replaying it many times as an adult has never managed to dispel the special relationship I have with the game. I always had trouble ranking the very top entry, it was always between Zelda 2 and A Link to the Past for me, until 2017 and Breath of the Wild, now after 26 years or so, there was finally a new contender for the top spot, and I think it finally tipped the balance and I can now pretty confidently state that BotW is my favourite Zelda game, now it's just the number 2 and 3 spot I can't decide :D Edit: lmao that didn't take long, wrote this comment before watching the video, haha damn, what a way to go. Edit2: Tears of the Kingdom so low is interesting, as someone who now has BotW as my favourite Zelda of all time, I have to say I kind of agree. There are many things that TotK does better than BotW, but it never instilled that same sense of... cozy adventure BotW did for me. The Depths where really cool, but started to drag pretty quick, the Sky Islands never felt that unique, you quickly learned what you could expect to find on any given one, and flying kind of ruined some of the sense of exploration we had in BotW. I know you could just, you know, not fly, but that's not really how the human mind works, if it's there, you're going to use it. In no way shape or form do I think TotK is a bad game, I spent 260 hours on my first playthrough before defeating Ganon, and I would not play 260 hours of a game I did not enjoy, a lot, and I would probably not put it as low as you have, but I sympathize with you :)

I didn’t try Zelda 2 until I was like 19-20 years old so definitely didn’t have any preexisting nostalgia and as I said in the video, I was just so confused as to what was going on. I always found it interesting how Nintendo had some success with the initial Zelda then decided to change the formula so drastically with its sequel. And I agree with all you said about TOTK. BOTW had that initial “omg this is so new and interesting” feel that TOTK totally missed with me. I tried soooo hard to get into it, but it just wasn’t meant to be

You need to finish this game man, get the glyphs, the regional phenomena, then to the castle you go I dont mean this in a mean or sarcastic way or in an "i'm upset" way, its more like a "give the main stuff a chance" lol (which can be hard without tone in text) but the beauty of TotK is that it has so much content but you dont have to do it all, like BotW, you can end the adventure at any point and feeling like you have to do everything, even if you dont like it, is definitely a you thing(it seems). And hey, I could be off base and you did all the regional phenomena and other stuff and still didnt like it/vibe with it
@@TheRealGarateafter I walked away from TOTK, I did go back and watch all story cutscenes and final boss fight on TH-cam. The story is phenomenal, especially Zelda’s role. But the pacing and gameplay just didn’t keep me engaged enough 🤷🏻♂️

The entire lead up to fighting Ganondorf was cool, the music was fantastic, and then the fucker turns into a dragon lol awesome I get wanting Zelda to stay a dragon but after all that, I was like hell yeah and having to catch her Shovel Knight style but mirroring the beginning of the game where he fails to catch her is just 👌🫡 Like I said, I get the criticisms of the pacing but man, the hype moments were hype
Not often do i see minish cap at the top. I agree it is incredibly under rated. I would definitely put twilight princess much lower, i dont like the dark art style (and the spiders are too realistic). Lttp so low tho... 😒
Hey like I said, 1-10 were essentially all in the “incredible game” tier so it was just my personal feelings/nostalgia ranking them at that point! Anyone could place it at #1 and I’d not bat an eye I’ll also admit that it’s probably been a good 10+ years since I last played LttP so maybe I’d have it higher with a more recent playthrough!
(Hot take) I don't like twilight princess. I think it's a disappointing game for many reasons. The story makes no sense, the pacing is horrible and completely ruined by padding (like the wolf sections or going twice into the woods for no reason), and overall the game just has no personality for me. When you know every single zelda game has a clear defining aspect (like 3 days in majora's mask or the sea in wind waker) It's difficult to find one in twilight princess. And no it's not the wolf since majora's mask already had 3 better transformations. And it's even worse in the scope of the zelda series since twilight princess chooses regression over progression. Instead of improving on the serie's flaws, it expands on them and emulates them. This regression over progression thing is even more apparent when you realize that twilight princess just removes things but forgets to add other things to compensate, like the magic meter for example. At least the dungeons were fun and midna is one of my favorite characters in the series. And great video too i really enjoyed it
Twilight Princess has the best dungeons(City in the Sky being my favorite) and the best companion of all time. I thought the dark and edgy graphics helped with the overall vibe that the game was going for. The music is unique and different. It’s also the first Zelda game which Zelda has brunette hair(which I thought was really cool) and I also thought it was interesting how we only got to see Zelda 3 times throughout the entirety of the game because it’s main focus is on Midna. Some of the things I didn’t like about the game are the bosses, characters, enemies, and overall pacing. It definitely has boring parts that drag on way too long but I think Midna and the Dungeons make up for it. I think this game is the most controversial Zelda game because people either love it or hate it and there’s usually no in between. There’s a lot of things they could of taken out and at the same time there’s a lot of things they could of added as well. Overall… I’m happy it exists.
If you don’t like some of the mechanics that’s totally fair, and sure, maybe some other games have done things better than twilight. But to say it has no personality I think is objectively false! Otherwise, can’t argue to much with your other points :)

I couldn’t disagree more on the tech demo aspect, but I know the sword breaking is pretty divisive. Never bothered me all that much, especially once you level up your weapon capacity
Every Zelda fan has an opinion that’s bound to make everyone mad, and mine is that Majora’s Mask is extremely overrated. The main story doesn’t cut it for me, four dungeons that are all decent at best with the exception of Stone Tower doesn’t cut it for me. Easily my least favorite 3D Zelda. My top 3 is definitely TOTK at 1, Skyward Sword at 2, and BOTW at 3. Skyward Sword’s main story, in my opinion, is absolutely FANTASTIC. Amazing dungeons, amazing characters, and fun atmospheres to play in. TOTK is easily the best game i’ve ever played, I have literally 0 complaints about the game, everything felt like the game was meticulously made for me. So yeah, here’s my ranking of the 3D Zelda’s. 1. Tears of the Kingdom 2. Skyward Sword 3. Breath of the Wild 4. Twilight Princess 5. Ocarina of Time 6. Wind Waker 7. Majora’s Mask
Yeah I think what can separate Majora from the other 3D games would have to be the quality of its side quests. Some of the most grim yet beautiful stories of these townsfolk preparing for the end of the world. The only way to piece these stories together is to speak to NPC at certain times of the day after certain conditions have been met. Really interesting to me! I do gotta put respect on TOTKs name. To top a former “best game ever made” in BOTW is a FEAT that not many can pull off Very curious where they go from here!

@@LUNATOONS_25 yea honestly. Zelda 1 and 2 feel like prototypes to me, it's only reasonable to put them at the bottom. There's no real reason to even play them nowadays, if not out of curiosity about the origins of the series.
I have very similar feelings about TotK btw, I stopped playing it after about 40 hours because I got really bored but at the same time overwhelmed with the 3 different overworld layers. I only just started to continue playing it the other day.
Twilight Princess used to be my arch nemesis of the Zelda games for a long time, but recently I gave it another chance and despite being a game with a lot of flaws, I've made my peace with it and I'd rank it in middle of my Zelda tier list now.

There were a lot of unexpected rankings here. I’m so used to seeing BOTW/TOTK back to backs and I don’t think I’ve ever seen MC as a top choice(great game). The only Zelda card removal I had was AOL at the end of the list, but I can’t do that because I’m team BOTW/TOTK in the bottom 3 which is apparently sacrilege.
I think the only comment I disagreed with was the podcast stating that the OOT formula was about story while BOTW was exploration. I believe the OOT( or ALTTP) formula was about exploration, progression, and story , basically fine tuning the original’s formula. BOTW formula is more free exploration that is its own beast but something we’ve also seen in open world sandbox, not something I would necessarily call fresh or original, to Zelda sure but not to gaming.
Also I will die on the hill that the N64 controller was comfortable for its time. I feel the people who hate it the most held the left and right prongs while playing instead of the middle and right.
yeah BOTW just had that colossal impact on the gaming industry that was so fun to me. crazy how just 1 game later i found that formula to become stale.
and i dont think the N64 controller is UNCOMFORTABLE necessarily, but the joystick is pretty garbage and the placement of the D Pad and L bumper made them essentially worthless to me haha

I remember playing it and probably midway through it, I felt it was Skyrim or Minecraft(that’s more TOTK now) with a Zelda sticker slapped on it. Admittedly the open world sandbox genre isn’t my favorite, I just wish they melded some aspects of the traditional formula into the new formula instead of tossing it away. I won’t lie though, I was excited for BOTW and discussing with my friends the different paths we took was a lot of fun. I definitely enjoyed it more than TOTK. Open world sand box/survival games have been one of the most popular genres since 2001 and an insane amount of games in this formula has come out since BOTW. It was only a matter of time before the fatigue came.
There is no denying that the analog stick was trash especially when Mario Party came out. The dpad and L button is tricky because so few games used them outside of wrestling games. I’ll admit I have some rose tinted glasses on for that controller. I think I also appreciated being a big controller that had grips that fit my hands. The original PlayStation controller was small for no reason and resulted in hand cramps for me.
Majora's Mask needs a revisit maybe the 3DS version, considering both versions it's my number 1. I think it'd go quite a bit up in your personal ranking if you played it again Luna

It was a very memorable experience. The time mechanic was a little stressful, but certainly unique and interesting.

Definitely some hot takes here, but nothing wrong that. I was a huge fan of botw and felt like totk improved upon (almost) every aspect. I was overwhelmed at times, because there is TOO much to do, but I feel like its variety is what keeps me going. When I'm bored of doing one aspect, I just go to the chasms, and then change it when I'm bored of that, and the cycle keeps going. With your restaurant analogy, a lot of fine dining sort of places have those super small dishes because you're supposed to have like 10-15 of them. It can be stupid yea, but even if it's treated as a dumb novelty (I'm sure most of those restaurants will admit that lol), they're fun to go through.
Minish Cap is definitely a masterpiece though. I am frustrated with how underrated it is. It is probably the most expensive mainline zelda game, but with it finally being on the switch it might finally get the following it deserves. I also feel like it's the best game for someone to start the series with. It's one of the easier titles, and shows off the formula in a simplistic yet effective way.
Oh, and Zelda 2 does rule :P

I see that tears of the Kingdom Is MUCH lower than breath of the wild..i have played totk but not botw because many have told me that no Need..but your placement makes me doubt that..should i play botw? (Keep in mind i feel as though they have burried what Zelda is all about under the Temple of time ruins..im.very dissapointed with the style)

I think the greatness of BOTW is partly due to its time of release. It was really one of those games that rocked the gaming industry so idk how much punch it would have now, especially after playing TOTK.

@@traviscunningham7062 I've given it a second playthrough since then, and now I have it placed in C tier between Ocarina of Time and Zelda 1. You have to strategize and play a little differently than you would with most of the other 2D Zelda games, and part of my initial frustration was not being able to adapt. I can more clearly see the appeal of the game, but still acknowledge it's a little rough around the edges.
I loved Minish Cap! By far the most nostalgia for a Zelda game I’ve ever had. Also, I appreciate the different perspective on your ranking, tired of always seeing the same Zelda games in the top 3.
Minish Cap is so great and it makes me sad that so many have passed on it! An objective list would probably look like everyone else’s, but my own personal tastes and experiences definitely let me mix it up a bit 👍🏻

I didnt have a Switch when botw came out during my freshman year of college but my TV was very close to my dorm room so whenever i wanted to play handheld I luckily had the range to do so! Also I appreciate the Skyward Sword love!

If spinoffs were included, this list would be very drastically different. I like Adventure of Link because the map is very similar to the island I live on and reminds me of home. Minish Cap is peak 2D Zelda for me. Link's Awakening was probably the most emotional Zelda game yet the most cheerful one that wasn't afraid to get adult. It was also my first 2D game so that probably plays a part in why it's so high. BotW was my introduction to the series so I'm obviously going to be biased to it.

imo it was great for the FIRST time in BoTW - but needed to change a lot in ToTK and they mostly failed big time.

Idk if that’s a good comparison. Im sure there are plenty of Zelda fans that do or do not enjoy touch controls that still gave these games a shot simply because they were fans of the series and wanted to see if it would work for them.
From a story and gameplay standpoint, PHG and ST follow the same formula as all of the other 2D Zelda games. The touch controls are the main differentiator and therefore would be the deciding factor on wether most would enjoy them or not

I think you're absolutely wild for putting Majora's mask so low. But you're a hero for recognizing twilight princess for how great it is. Just a perfected version (for the time) of the classic formula established in ALttP. I agree that I pray we can get a new updated version following in TP's footsteps.
As I said in the vid, MM just doesn’t have much of a nostalgic connection with me. Plus, I think adding a timer to any video game stresses me out a little 😄

you played zelda 2 for 1,5 hour and put it aside? come on, play the game, finish it, and THEN rank it. start by grinding the lower point levels, and after thet go to the temples. It is a very nice game, give it a shot!

incredibly recycled BoTW Hyrule + gameplay + enemies + armor + Koroks etc, Depths are bloated as hell, much from BoTW is unimproved; BoTW was fresh and innovative as hell in 2017 and is imo a FAR superior game than ToTK in 2023

@@LUNATOONS_25 100% same here, I also felt crazy seeing all the rave reactions. yes, ToTK has its great MOMENTS (imo the best one is the whole part before Spirit Temple) - but for me the ratio of those moments and the rest ended up painfully insufficient. imo the most overrated game of recent times (and I was HYPED!)

Somehow MC never really clicked for me. I found exploring and traversing the overworld to be tedious, the dungeons to be just so-so, the stone-fusion system with its fetch-quest character abysmal and don't get me even started on THE. WORST. HEART-PIECE in Zelda history: the figurine collection!

I played botw on my Wii U as well. I would take the console to work and just play at work overnight.
Framerate is ROUGH on the Wii U, but made for an unforgettable experience regardless! 🙌🏻

I feel about the same as you about TotK and BotW.
I locked in almost seven hundred hours in BotW (between Wii U and Switch) and loved it the whole way through.
I played TotK for over one-hundred fifty hours and dropped it without beating it. I filled out the entire underground and surface/sky, did four of the five dungeons and many shrines.
TotK didn't capture the same magic BotW did for me. I also really don't enjoy the building mechanic, not because it's clunky, but because it just interferes too much with what I enjoyed about BotW.
Before I had to consider my route and I enjoyed myself just traversing, now I just spawn a glider for 9 zonaite. lol
Scenery also looked better in BotW since it wasn't stained with random stuff and skylands.
I got nothing against TotK, but BotW just does it better for me.
sorry but putting tears of the kingdom at 12 is really like really UNACCEPTABLE LIKE WTF I litterally prefer It to botw bro let's be objective LIKE HOWWWW ??!! as much as I love and have played botw (+ 300 hours, much more than totk) totk is litterally better in ALL of the aspects : dungeons, bosses, ennemies, story, charcters, exploration side quests, shrines,... the only big problem with It (there is other issues but this is the main one ig) is that It plays a bit too much like botw but beside of that the game is simply amazing that I have to prefer It just a little to botw cuz of what the game offers even if It has some issues in It. I can understand that you prefer botw tbh but I really can't understand that you put it so low I find It a little sad that you didn't appreciate SUCH A good GAME

The most interesting part about these lists is to see where people place Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. it was my first Zelda game, in fact it was the first video game I ever played, and it has since 1987 occupied a very special place in my heart. I would never go so far as to say it's the best Zelda game, it categorically is not, but it has always hovered around the top of my personal favourite list, even replaying it many times as an adult has never managed to dispel the special relationship I have with the game.
I always had trouble ranking the very top entry, it was always between Zelda 2 and A Link to the Past for me, until 2017 and Breath of the Wild, now after 26 years or so, there was finally a new contender for the top spot, and I think it finally tipped the balance and I can now pretty confidently state that BotW is my favourite Zelda game, now it's just the number 2 and 3 spot I can't decide :D

Edit2: Tears of the Kingdom so low is interesting, as someone who now has BotW as my favourite Zelda of all time, I have to say I kind of agree.
There are many things that TotK does better than BotW, but it never instilled that same sense of... cozy adventure BotW did for me. The Depths where really cool, but started to drag pretty quick, the Sky Islands never felt that unique, you quickly learned what you could expect to find on any given one, and flying kind of ruined some of the sense of exploration we had in BotW.
I know you could just, you know, not fly, but that's not really how the human mind works, if it's there, you're going to use it.
In no way shape or form do I think TotK is a bad game, I spent 260 hours on my first playthrough before defeating Ganon, and I would not play 260 hours of a game I did not enjoy, a lot, and I would probably not put it as low as you have, but I sympathize with you :)

I didn’t try Zelda 2 until I was like 19-20 years old so definitely didn’t have any preexisting nostalgia and as I said in the video, I was just so confused as to what was going on. I always found it interesting how Nintendo had some success with the initial Zelda then decided to change the formula so drastically with its sequel.
And I agree with all you said about TOTK. BOTW had that initial “omg this is so new and interesting” feel that TOTK totally missed with me.

I dont mean this in a mean or sarcastic way or in an "i'm upset" way, its more like a "give the main stuff a chance" lol (which can be hard without tone in text) but the beauty of TotK is that it has so much content but you dont have to do it all, like BotW, you can end the adventure at any point and feeling like you have to do everything, even if you dont like it, is definitely a you thing(it seems). And hey, I could be off base and you did all the regional phenomena and other stuff and still didnt like it/vibe with it

The story is phenomenal, especially Zelda’s role.

(Hot take) I don't like twilight princess. I think it's a disappointing game for many reasons. The story makes no sense, the pacing is horrible and completely ruined by padding (like the wolf sections or going twice into the woods for no reason), and overall the game just has no personality for me. When you know every single zelda game has a clear defining aspect (like 3 days in majora's mask or the sea in wind waker) It's difficult to find one in twilight princess. And no it's not the wolf since majora's mask already had 3 better transformations. And it's even worse in the scope of the zelda series since twilight princess chooses regression over progression. Instead of improving on the serie's flaws, it expands on them and emulates them. This regression over progression thing is even more apparent when you realize that twilight princess just removes things but forgets to add other things to compensate, like the magic meter for example. At least the dungeons were fun and midna is one of my favorite characters in the series. And great video too i really enjoyed it
Twilight Princess has the best dungeons(City in the Sky being my favorite) and the best companion of all time. I thought the dark and edgy graphics helped with the overall vibe that the game was going for. The music is unique and different. It’s also the first Zelda game which Zelda has brunette hair(which I thought was really cool) and I also thought it was interesting how we only got to see Zelda 3 times throughout the entirety of the game because it’s main focus is on Midna. Some of the things I didn’t like about the game are the bosses, characters, enemies, and overall pacing. It definitely has boring parts that drag on way too long but I think Midna and the Dungeons make up for it. I think this game is the most controversial Zelda game because people either love it or hate it and there’s usually no in between. There’s a lot of things they could of taken out and at the same time there’s a lot of things they could of added as well. Overall… I’m happy it exists.
If you don’t like some of the mechanics that’s totally fair, and sure, maybe some other games have done things better than twilight.
But to say it has no personality I think is objectively false!

Every Zelda fan has an opinion that’s bound to make everyone mad, and mine is that Majora’s Mask is extremely overrated. The main story doesn’t cut it for me, four dungeons that are all decent at best with the exception of Stone Tower doesn’t cut it for me. Easily my least favorite 3D Zelda. My top 3 is definitely TOTK at 1, Skyward Sword at 2, and BOTW at 3. Skyward Sword’s main story, in my opinion, is absolutely FANTASTIC. Amazing dungeons, amazing characters, and fun atmospheres to play in. TOTK is easily the best game i’ve ever played, I have literally 0 complaints about the game, everything felt like the game was meticulously made for me. So yeah, here’s my ranking of the 3D Zelda’s.
1. Tears of the Kingdom
2. Skyward Sword
3. Breath of the Wild
4. Twilight Princess
5. Ocarina of Time
6. Wind Waker
7. Majora’s Mask
Yeah I think what can separate Majora from the other 3D games would have to be the quality of its side quests. Some of the most grim yet beautiful stories of these townsfolk preparing for the end of the world. The only way to piece these stories together is to speak to NPC at certain times of the day after certain conditions have been met. Really interesting to me!
I do gotta put respect on TOTKs name. To top a former “best game ever made” in BOTW is a FEAT that not many can pull off
