- 2022 marks 30 years since notorious identity thief Kirby made his video-game debut, giving Nintendo yet another bankable mascot. He may never achieved the mainstream adoration of Mario, the industry relevance of Zelda, or the die-hard appeal of Metroid, but for three decades he’s been there, welcoming players to Nintendo’s various consoles with a big hug, a bigger smile, and a digestive system we would rather not understand. For this reason we decided to revisit each of his games and rank them from worst to best, all while trying to avoid saying “awwwww…” every time he does something cute. We don't tolerate Kirby Mass Attack slander in this house
Mass Attack is consistently excellent. The music is a series high, the pixel art is phenomenal, and the controls feel really good once they click. Then there's the constant variety that comes from the tank levels, the levels in outer space, the fully fleshed out RPG and Galactica minigames. The game is also insanely challenging if you care about 100%ing it and has tons of replay value.
Kirby Mass Attack is amazing

I like DL3 and find it really underrated, I wouldn't mind it ranking high on any other list.
But when it's ranked high on a complete joke of a list like this one it almost feels like an insult.

I wouldn't say it's top 3, but Super Star Ultra is. Super Star is easily top 10.
While I do respect your opinion regarding the games, I have to admit this list really confuses me... I mean, Super Star did pretty much make the Kirby series what it is today : abilities have proper movesets and hats, co-op is a thing, you get several types of gameplay and even a full remake of the first game; plus it looks better, you can block attacks, etc... By nowadays standards, it might not hold up (hence the remake) but I do believe that for what it was at the time, especially coming right after Kirby's Adventure, the praise was definitely justified
Agreed, they have Super Star ranked lower than DeDeDe's Drum Dash Deluxe, a non Kirby game, Kirby's Block Ball which is a glorified version of Breakout and the biggest sin Kirby Air Ride! Pretty sure any Kirby fan you speak to would prefer Super Star over any of those!

My favorite is return to dreamland. the music, the graphics, the gameplay, the boss fights, THE SUPER ABILITIES, it just, man, its one of my favorites today

I think Super Star is placed a little too low under some of these games. As much as I like some games over it… really, Dream Land has no right being better than it. Or Dream Land 2, as much I love it being my first Kirby game. Also, SS Ultra and Nightmare in Dream Land are so radical remakes, that they should’ve been featured here.
Superstar literally has a remake of dream land in it, too

This man also called the game that inspired the entire Super Smash Bros. series, and the game used as a template for future Kirby games such as Triple Deluxe, Planet Robobot, and more "8 half-hearted shrugs".
Not to mention he said Spring Breeze was a WORSE version of Kirby’s Dreamland. Worse?? The remake has copy abilities, the original doesn’t. What sense does that make??

Super Star is bizarrely low. Every "what is the best kirby game?" poll I've seen (Last one had 1,500 responses) had Super Star/SSU win by a substantial margin. It would be like Super Metroid not making the top 10 on a metroid list.
Yeah. It’s usually either SS/U or Robobot in the number 1 spot. Really weird to see Dreamland 2, Dreamland 3 and goddaamn Star Allies ranking so high when Superstar is so low.
Super Nintendo Kirby SS was just built different.
Super Star is more reputation than quality. It’s fine but in no way matches up to its hype, at least if you remove nostalgia from the factor. I would believe that Superstar ranks low here because triple jump don’t seem like massive Kirby fans, but for someone in the right age range who grew up on SNES, the nostalgia pushes it over objectively better titles.

Seeing Pinball Land that low made me assume I'd disagree with a few entries on the list.
The absolute SLANDER towards Super Star makes me believe you just made everything up without playing any of it, considering it's really a top three game in the franchise.

I agree with you that they are wrong about a lot of the entries, but if they didn't play any of those, why would they place one of the best games low, you think they want to create controversies?

If tou play Amazing Mirror you would know that the stand out feature was the open world like level design not the multiplayer.

There was a time when little me only had a Brickboy and a handful of Gameboy games.
One was Kirby's Dreamland and it was the first game I ever beat.
Those 8-bit tunes are burned into my head.
I am now a proud Papa as my son is enjoying Kirby as much as I do.
I love how this video didn't touch up upon any of the kirby lore it's been building, how eldritch the enemies are and a like... and it still felt like you heard about the games enough. It just comes to show that the lore really is just something for the fans by this point. And I love it.
Also Super star should've gotten the rerelease allowance and gotten a far better rating for the fact it changed so much in kirby's formula alone

I only player the ds version, my opinion is that it's the most iconic Kirby game: Marx, masked dedede, DynaBlade, the cutscenes, the high number of copy abilities, revenge of meta knight (with the fun dialogues). Everything about Super Star is iconic and nostalgic

It's obvious they play games for like a minute before forming an opinion on them. Check out the complete trainwreck that is their Genesis Mini video where they ranked the lazy Mega Man ports like 30 spots ahead of Phantasy Star 4 lol.
I've been playing Kirby games since my ninth birthday in 1994 and he remains my favourite video game character. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some form of Kirby Anniversary Collection will materialise before 2022 is out!
To be honest I think there are really no bad Kirby game.
I know your rules say no ports or remakes, but Nightmare in Dreamland, Super Star Ultra and Extra Epic Yarn added so much it's almost like a new game. They would have just added 3 more games to your list.
Kirby RTDL deluxe with its Magolor epilogue was amazing too (RTDL is one of my favourite games so I might be a bit biased). Even though the game came out after this video i just wanted to mention that

As much as I love Kirby's Adventure, it being ranked above Planet Robobot, Triple Deluxe, Super Star, Crystal Shards, and even Dream Land 3 just doesn't sit right.
Also the remakes Nightmare in Dreamland, Super Star Ultra, and Extra Epic Yarn are honestly different enough from their original releases (admittedly not in a good way on that last one) that leaving them out just makes this list feel incomplete.
Their rankings are always half assed and seem to have been put together in 3 minutes.

I’ll be honest, as a kid I hated great cave offensive but now it’s my 2nd favorite mode on Kirby Super Star. And that’s my favorite Kirby game. Should’ve been rated way higher.

I really don't agree with many of these picks later as the video progresses. I mean, Super Star is certainly a better game for me than Star Allies and Triple Deluxe is much better than these GameBoy games, however, it's still an interesting take. I also respect the Rainbow Curse and Dream Course love!
Never got into Dream Course myself though I understand why people love it so much. As a puzzle game fan, I loved Ghost Trap [I'm in the UK] though - for a while, that was my most played SNES title...until I got Fun Pak AKA Super Star!

Nope, this channel just repeatedly makes very confusing placements and logic around here.
They judge most things purely of Metacritic scores yet claim Warcraft 3 Reforged (the game that killed the original completely and has a rightful 0 on the site) isn't as bad as a simple lazy re-release of Silent Hill.
Super Star and Squeak Squad are good games fool, Pinball Land definitely does not deserve to be that low, I beat it as a kid no problem.

I honestly agree with him that Super Star is overrated and has been outdone by other games in every department, though I disagreed with him on some areas. I adore Great Cave and Amazing Mirror was just that mode fleshed out. What I cant get over is how this man ranked Block Ball over Triple Deluxe.

I bought Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land not realizing that it was a remake. Very shortly into it, I realized what it was, but since it was a remake of Kirby's Adventure with gorgeous new graphics, I wasn't disappointed.
Also, I love Kirby Super Star (and the expanded DS port), particularly the Great Cave Offensive.

Kirby Tilt'n'Tumble is no longer only for the Game Boy as it has now come out on Nintendo On-line. So if you subscribe to that service you can play it on the switch with the gyro taking the place of the controls in the cartridge.

Oh my younger sister and I have had SCREAMING LAUGHTER fun while playing Kirby's DreamCourse! It's one of our favorites along with Bomberman Generation's Reversi Battle.
It's cool to see Tilt and Tumble even get mentioned. I swear it feels like that game was lost to time. Bizarrely, it the only Kirby game I've ever owned and/or played for more that, like, an hour. I wasnt very good at games as a kid, but I, somehow, managed to beat it, so I'm proud of that.
I loved Canvas Curse. Drawicia was terrifying, and the music was stellar.

the extra mode really made Dream Land 1 a fun game to come back to every so often and see how quickly you can beat it. It's a perfect snack of a game.

I love team kirby clash deluxe 😍 it was great to have this game that I did not have to pay for, and I was happy to spend a flat $5 at the start of the game. Great boss mode. Great value. Yes it does incentivize you to come
back on a daily basis to get more lil currencies.
Yeah and super Kirby clash is just better than that, they didn’t even mention there’s now a second stamina bar you can use to complete more Missions without a problem, music is an absolute banger, and I feel that the game no longer pay to win compared to team Kirby clash deluxe.

That's the first time I have to disagree hard with some rankings. Superstar is positioned too low, Amazing Mirror ranked too low, Pinball is waaay ranked too low
Kirby Clash Deluxe doesn't let you spend more than $30 and and Super Kirby Clash doesn't let you spend more than $40. After which the Apple Gem Tree which gives you your in-game currency reaches Max size and gives you more than enough Apples to continue playing uninterrupted. I hate games with micro transactions because they're always trying to squeeze you for everything you have if you want to be able to play comfortably so I'm at least glad The Kirby Clash games put a limit on how much you can spend.
Edit: Correction the limit is not how much money you can spend but how much in game currency you can buy. For example super Kirby Clash is 5000 Gem Apples which if you buy it with the 5000 gem pack is $39.99. if you buy all the discount packs you'll reach the limit and save about $3.

Kirby's not my FAVOURITE series, but when a major entry comes out I always play it. They're consistently quirky, fun, and relaxing.

You guys should do every Mega Man game from worst to best (totally not biased here). As in if it says Mega Man or Rockman in its title, it counts (aside from the usual exceptions of course).

@Anonymous Knew it. Those games are legendarily bad, to the point that they're not easy to find or play. Like these guys say often, if the internet wants to forget about it, it must really be worth forgetting about.
