Did you visit some of the secret areas? Castle Cainhurst and Nightmare Frontier are really cool !
I love Minish Cap just feel that it doesn't stand out too much. I will however agree it's one of the most underrated games in the series.
Got a kid on the way - thanks for the advice my dude
@@OhManTFE congratulations my guy! Hope some of these tips help. We didn’t allow ANY screen time for our boy so it made it that much more difficult haha. But by the time he hit 1yr, the gaming schedule was mostly back on track
This is incredible content man. Keep it up!
@@jacksonjones9360 thank you! Comments like these motivate me to keep cranking em out, even when I don’t have the time or energy 😄
omg, I love minish cap as well. I felt like it was too short and I hated the library and the shoe quest because they were kind of cryptic with how to start the quest. However, everything else, awesome!
@@Nintendofanboy101-yk8ro Glad to have met a fellow Minish enjoyer 💪🏻
is godwyn a valid complaint/talking point here? hes dead. and not oh the erdtree will bring him back later dead, or oh maybe miquella will bring him back dead, but soul dead, so not sure what was expected on that front. more past events would've been nice af, but expecting a final boss out of him doesnt make lore sense imo, at least not within the lore that they gave us in base game. not sure how many asspulls would be needed to get a godwyn revival to make sense here
@@Redst0neWiz it’s just personally what I would’ve liked to see. In the base game, Fia said she was going to attempt to revive Godwyn within her own body which we never really got answers on so that could’ve been one potential route. Even if it wasn’t Godwyn in soul, seeing his body resurrected essentially as a messed up zombie version of him might’ve been cool too. Miquella was also going to try resurrecting him with some sort of eclipse ritual which failed, but I feel like the team could’ve worked around it if they really wanted to. But you’re right, it would’ve required some tomfoolery for sure.
It is second best but only by a fraction of a point. The Old Hunters is just so good and adds some of the best bosses in the series - Ludwig, Lady Maria, and Orphan of Kos
@@OnlyAUsername sadly that’s the ONE FromSoft DLC I haven’t played. When I first played Bloodborne last year, I didn’t realize it automatically starts NG+ upon beating the final boss. I had planned on going back and doing the DLC later, but it’ll have to wait until my next playthrough 🤷🏻♂️
Bold! I find this list baffling but somewhat agreeable at the same time. 😂👍
@@andrewwall4155 mission accomplished 🤙🏻
I hated you when you put TotK in 13 but I was able to smile again with Minish Cap (fun fact, I just finished it like 2 days ago)
@@kabeuchiha haha glad i was able to redeem myself and glad you got to play (and enjoy?) Minish cap! It’s a special special game 👍🏻
@@LUNATOONS_25 Ive completed ToTK 100% x2, then BotW master mode 100% and I wanted to play a new Zelda, so I tried Minish Cap and it was really, really good! Im missing like 20 figurines after fighting Vaati, not sure if ill ever grid the rest xD
@@kabeuchiha I’m not a big 100% kinda guy but I did everything in BOTW except the Korok seeds (I got around 600 before I gave up lol) That’s impressive af though!
@@LUNATOONS_25 I can’t tell you aren’t bc I was enjoying the totk side quests of getting bubble frogs, getting all the cave entrances, getting all the wells and all the sign guys xD just bought a DS and ocarina of time.. never played that and I’m rly excited to experience it for the first time :D I know you’ll say I’ve wasted my time with totk ahah excited for echoes?
@@kabeuchiha nah man if you like that style of gameplay more power to you! I am interested, but the last 3 games will have used the “create your own adventure” kind of approach to the puzzles and such. Already pretty burnt out on that style after TOTK but we’ll see!
dark souls 3 will always be my favourite no matter what
@@Yive. so good! Best bosses in the series imo
Minish cap is fun but that kinstone nonsense gets old fast
sekiro not souls borne :(, also you can add time stamps for the video (like for each game) it would be cool af
Sekiro is definitely a souls-like. I’ve never understood the argument that it’s not. Just cause it lacks RPG elements?? And I will look into that, usually TH-cam is decent at self-generating time stamps but didn’t do it for this video for whatever reason!
@@LUNATOONS_25 tbh i played sekiro after getting 100% on ds1 ds2 and er and it was a big difference, like it's from fromsoftware and it remembers their style, loved it but nowhere close to souls, especially on the movement, even tho it's an awesome game nothing to say
@@quasarYT Difficulty, memorizing enemy attack patterns, interconnected level design, "Bonfires" with respawning enemies, ect. Sounds very souls-like for me tbh
@@quasarYT it’s definitely a shake up from the norm, but being a souls-like is a lot more than just how the character moves or how the combat plays out. You’ve got souls, bonfires, respawning enemies, multi stage bosses with giant health bars, etc etc.
Bloodborne not #1, opinion invalid.
Hahaha I knoooow I knoooww
ds1 is just slow clunky and bad. the artwork is great but without a good story its just wasted potential
Agree to disagree there! Slow and clunky? yes. bad? I don’t personally think so. With the limited blueprints and development time that they had, I feel like they squeezed out every bit of greatness they could! But to each their own
Awful take lmao
The dlc for Bloodborne is the best part of the game, you’re going to enjoy
So I’ve heard! A Bloodborne remaster should would be a good excuse for another play through… 👀
Also I took a break on DS1 so thanks for reminding me and inspiring me to get back into it!
My favorite type of comment right there! Glad to be the catalyst that pushes you back in haha
Really looking forward to your thoughts on Old Hunters whenever you get to it! That might deserve its whole entire video haha. I recently beat it this year and it has some of the best FS content I've ever experienced (I'm biased bc I'm a huge BB fan haha). I will say though, the final boss of the DLC is a liiitle over hyped imo 😅
Will definitely make a dedicated video to see if the DLC changes my opinion on BB as a whole!
u look like a sailor from wind waker
Finally someone took notice!
My top 5: Ocarina of time Wind waker Twilight Princess Minish cap Zelda 2
That top 3 feels pretty standard then the bottom 2 take a left turn! Haha Glad to see Minish Cap in there 🙌🏻
Well breath of the wild is just 60 dollars tech demo.... and the awful sword breaking....
I couldn’t disagree more on the tech demo aspect, but I know the sword breaking is pretty divisive. Never bothered me all that much, especially once you level up your weapon capacity
I'm glad you reviewed this game and that you enjoyed it! I'll have to be basic and say my favorite Wii games were Wii Sports and Sports Resort. I remember playing those with my late mother all the time and playing bowling together and trying to beat each others scores in basketball. :)
Aww man, I DESPERATELY need to pick up a copy of Wii Sports. Sold all my original Wii stuff back in the day 🥲 Sounds like you got an awesome connection with those games too!
@@LUNATOONS_25 yeah. I really wished Nintendo Switch Sports came out earlier so I could've played with her. they were awesome times indeed
Bit of a wildcard having minish cap at number one but I respect anyone who doesn't put totk or botw at number one
It’s just the most consistent fun I’ve had with the series and is a quick n easy replay!
How do you get Austin powers from metal gear? Is it because zero has a British accent?
For me, it was when Snake said “YEAH BABY YEEAAHH!” and “OH BEHAAAVE” to Ocelot
Honestly, I think co-op is a best option where one or more of the players have already played it. I think 2 people trying to play it for the first time together might struggle just because they're stepping on each other's feet a bit. I've already played it all the way through once and am over a third of the way into a second play through, but I've also started a coop run with a friend who is playing for the first time. I'm making sure I stay in the backseat as much as possible so he can experience the game as much as possible for himself.... I'm just a glorified NPC/companion at this point, haha.
Absolutely. If we were both experienced with the game I think coop would have been x1000 better and I’d be curious to try it one day with a friend! Have to imagine BG3 would be one of the most difficult games NOT to backseat game so kudos to you lol
@@LUNATOONS_25 It's definitely an ordeal sometimes.... there's been points where I'm losing my mind while trying not to interfere and let him have a natural first play through, hahaha
What a cute guy
A game I bounced off originally was KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic), I had picked it up on sale for the original xbox, played it for a bit and then put it aside for several months, eventually went back and it was one of the best games I've ever played. Similar experience with Mount & Blade Warband, which eventually got 1k hours sunk into it. BTW you might enjoy going back to the original baldurs gate games, they are a bit dated of course but they really hold up in gameplay & story. Also lots of elements of lore which show up in BG3.
Aw man KOTOR is one of the goats but does have a very unique gameplay style that I could see many not enjoying at first. No idea what the other game you mention is, but can’t imagine bouncing off a game then putting in 1000+ hours haha
@@LUNATOONS_25 M&B Warband and it's recent update Bannerlord are pretty unique, a medieval fps, rts, grand strategy where you build an army but also fight alongside them in quite large scale battles. There is a huge modding community as well making it quite easy to sink 1k hrs in them :)
@@karllong okay Bannerlord I have heard of! Looks really high quality so may check it out!
I think multiplayer is good for later playthroughs once you both know the general way the gameplay and story goes. On your first playthrough, it is nice to go at your own pace and make decisions for the whole party so you own the decisiosn that are made. On a later playthrough, it can sometimes get tedius to make all those choices sometimes (or to loot every little box again), and letting someone else introduce chaos by picking dialogues for themselves (or help split the work of picking up loot) can help.
Yeah being unfamiliar with the game and its system was definitely our downfall 😄
console in 2024 ahaha
Woah woah woah, we are all gamers here no need for judgements!
It’s ok to not like BG3. It doesn’t make it any less of an amazing near perfect game. The 1st person view mod is also really fun to play around with as well.
Woah that sounds nuts! Will have to check out some gameplay
I can 100% understand bouncing off the game initially, especially when the first attempt was in co-op. Some of my friends were the same. Tactical cooperative play can devolve into analysis paralysis very quickly, and trying to time interactions with npcs so you’re not stepping on someone else’s toes can be grating. That being said, I’m so glad you gave it another chance. IMO this is a very special game, and hearing people talk about their experience in it is always a treat. I hope you continue having a grand adventure in Faerun.
Analysis paralysis is the perfect way to describe it! I would be very curious to try it now with another experienced player to see how that would change things, but this single player run has been incredible! Glad I gave it another go
Sometimes it takes a dozen hours in a game to get it. Good for you trying it again! I just beat honor mode and it was legitimately the most stressful and rewarding gaming experience I've ever had.
Some of these battles that go on for what feels like an eternity get me SWEATIN! But that sigh of relief when you come out on top man oh man 🤌🏻
Yeah I'm 5th level and 20hours in my 3rd attempt and officially choice paralyzed in act 1.
Great vid! My friends and I tried coop for our first run, but we lost interest pretty fast even though we are veteran rpg players. It wasn't until we all finished a solo run that we were able to enjoy a coop game.. i think for many of the same reason you had.. although being on different PC mitigated others. I'll add that Larian is great at making sure the level progression feels meaningful. On previous games we had encounters where it was impossible to get through no matter what we tried... but as soon as we gained a single level the encounter became very manageable.
I can imagine playing with other experienced players could be an absolute blast! And yes, I get tired of games that throw a crap ton of random and meaningless loot at the player as an artificial means of “progression”. Larian knows wtf they are DOING! 👏🏻
Try playing evil 😁 It's fun and you get to recruit Minthara.
Next play through I plan to do full evil dark urge! I do love being a full-on asshole in RPGs lol
You can actually recruit her in a good playthrough as well, they added ways to recruit members in new ways in patch 5. So if you wanna be a good guy and still have her in your party you can!
the interface on PS is ass
It must have been an incredibly difficult task to take what is generally a PC centric genre and make it work on console, so I think they did quite well all things considered!
@@LUNATOONS_25 ass is still ass
I actually refunded BG3 after I first bought it, I had never played a game like this and really didn’t like the top down style and click to move. But it kept popping up everywhere with insanely positive reviews so I gave it another shot, downloaded a WASD movement mod and made myself give it a more serious go this time. I got hooked and ended up putting in close to 500 hours and opened up my mind to other games which I’m currently exploring. I even ended up completing honor mode on my first try which was so satisfying. I have no doubt though that I will come back to BG3 as there are still many things I want to explore. If you plan a second playthrough I really recommend playing as dark urge (a fully customizable origin character with a very interesting back story and storyline).
Firstly, that’s an insane turn around and I love that it’s gotten you to look into other games outside your comfort zone. I had a similar experience with Dragon Quest 11 which really opened my eyes to JRPGs and got me thinking about other genres I was possibly missing out on. I will definitely play Dark Urge on my next attempt. Sounds really interesting. Doesn’t it randomly make your character go crazy aggressive and possibly kill NPCs or something?
@@LUNATOONS_25 you can generally play dark urge two ways which is usually referred to as embrace durge or resist durge. There will be unique dialogue and choices playing into that. I have only done a resist durge as I’m usually not good at playing an evil character. I believe there is like 1 unavoidable… situation, or maybe more I don’t want to spoil anything 😇 But almost everything is up to you and how you play it. Which again plays into the insane replayability of this game!
@@dominiquedamen I’ve been a total good guy with my current play through so best believe I’m going FULL DURGE
@@dominiquedamen the unavoidable situation is actually avoidable by knocking a certain character out before you take a long rest. I had to google how to avoid that event because durge or not, I could not handle the outcome. TBH I really hate that they take away your agency for that event especially in a game all about choice, though I understand what they were going for.
@@karllong yea I know but I never bother with that to be honest 😂
It takes a real person to admit they are wrong. My respect.
Gotta stay humble!
Never tried Coop but i put around 510h into Singleplayer :D it definitely deserves GOTY. I dont like the Controls at all but with a few Mods its great
Geeeeez haha. Maybe I’ll get there someday! You played on PC or console? I’d be curious to see how it controls on PC
@@LUNATOONS_25 PC all the way =D im not really into Turn Based and clicking to where i want to go, i struggled quite a bit in the beginning to get used to it, and yeah you will get there :p
@@user-uc5tu2dk8c the way they mapped everything to the controller was super impressive. And yeah, I do like how it controls like a standard 3rd person adventure when outside of combat
@@LUNATOONS_25 i might need to start a new playthrough to test that :) i havent tried Controller yet. Yeah the Camera is nice also good for taking Screenshots. On Pc you can get a Camera Mod for Zooming in and out more which is super awesome
@@user-uc5tu2dk8c I’m always jealous of PC gamers and their infinite supply of amazing mods 😄
I play with my friend and we don't have the problem with multiplayer you describe, I think this is YOUR issue, not the game's. (but we both had already played the whole game once solo)
Oh I definitely think if we had a deep understanding of the game, it would have GREATLY improved our experience. We basically had no idea what was going on and were trying to figure it out together. She doesn’t game hardly at all, and I had never played a CRPG like BG3. I’d be super interested to try coop again with another experienced player!
I bounced off of Dark souls came back to it months later loved it. Good luck with youtube.
Funny you say that as I had a pretty similar experience with Dark Souls. Bought it, kicked my ass, I dropped it. Played Dark Souls 3 YEARS later and it clicked. Went back to Dark Souls and it is now one of my all time favorites 🙌🏻
I think Zelda 2 was basically designed to have an Nintendo power at your side. I’m playing it recently with a walk-through and it’s so good.
I will definitely give it another try! … some day 😅
I loved Minish Cap! By far the most nostalgia for a Zelda game I’ve ever had. Also, I appreciate the different perspective on your ranking, tired of always seeing the same Zelda games in the top 3.
Minish Cap is so great and it makes me sad that so many have passed on it! An objective list would probably look like everyone else’s, but my own personal tastes and experiences definitely let me mix it up a bit 👍🏻
I feel like tears of the kingdoms enjoyability was hindered greatly by the existence of breath of the wild.
In a world where Tears of the Kingdom somehow came out first, it’d be the absolute all-timer
Love Miles' work as a writer and as a voice actor!
He’s accomplished some awesome stuff. Excited to see future projects!
Wonderful interview! I love listening to people talk about writing and about games, so this was the best of both worlds. I'm also waiting for the Switch physical version, though it sounds like I probably won't get very far into this.
Thank you! And yeah, I don’t consider myself to be overly creative and art-oriented so this kind of stuff blows my mind 😄 And yeaaah this game is brutally difficult at certain moments, but a fun ride nonetheless!
Thinking about writing always boggles my mind, like where would you even start it all seems so overwhelming, so having this inside information nicely breaks it down for me so it makes sense. I hate too much story in a game ESC ESC ESC, Skip Skip Skip! So I love that point of making it concise enough to convey as much of possible but without losing the essence of the characters. Always exciting to see a writer you've known for this one thing, branch out into a very different area of writing and the excitement of the learning process really comes through. Game writing is the Wild West of writing...so if Miles writes on a Space game, would that make him a Space Cowboy? The mention of Ed made me less guilty that I was distracted by the Cowboy Bebop artwork a lot of the time 😂
Most eye opening thing for me is how microscopic things can be in regards to the finer details. Having to put yourself in the shoes of standard NPCs and think of the ‘slang’ they might use from day to day and why. Totally nuts! And yes, absolutely a space cowboy 😆
Love this interview/conversation! And its so cool your brother works in the games industry and worked at Rooster Teeth too! I loved hearing about the interview process from a writers POV. I'm in the UX/UI Design industry and for us a major part of the interview process is our portfolio review where we showcase our best case studies in detail or even receive take-home design work similar to like what Miles had to do with writing scripts. Loved his insight on the state of thr industry and how games are made. Slave Zero X looks really cool!!
He’s been a part of some really cool stuff! And even though I don’t work in the industry, it’s super interesting to hear the different processes, and how all the cogs come together to form the machine. Do you specifically work in the games industry? Or is it more broad?
@@LUNATOONS_25 My industry is pretty broad but it's mostly focused in tech where we design flows/interfaces for softwares, websites, or mobile apps. But there are a lot of UX/UI Designers in gaming too! Some of my favorite UIs are in games like Persona 5, Metroid Prime, and all the Fire Emblem games.
@@nishquikpops games don’t get credited enough for great UIs but typically get shredded for bad ones. Looking at you Suicide Squad 😆 Games or not, you’re doing gods work keep it up 👍🏻
It was awesome to learn the writing process behind this game and I’m looking forward to having a physical copy of it in the future to get signed one day
