True. My cat went missing for a week and came back a trashed mess. I always wondered what kind of bender he went on, but he appreciated me from that point on until the day he died. Some cats need that kind of wake up call. 😂
My cat usually goes missing for like 2 weeks and comes back unscathed, but two years ago he just up and left and never came back. I hope he's now the worlds best barber
Syed Rafiq Kazim You can’t call it your cat if it isn’t ever around, it’s a stray at that point that only uses you for a quick meal. It has no feelings towards you.
I never let my cats go out, I feel kind of bad though, I'm constantly afraid they get bored and stressed in here. At least one of them get along with the dogs and plays with them.
This is one of my favorite videos on TH-cam that I find myself constantly coming back to. For me the part that brings me comfort is that the cat can go and have an adventure, his family still loves him and are looking for him. And when he decides to go back home, they accept him back no questions asked. I think everyone wishes they had someone, a family to run to when things get too hard.
Cat runs away from home gets an apartment gets a job hears a scream becomes a alcoholic gets fired then kills the kid who was screaming loses his apartment then goes home. The end :)
He becomes an alcoholic because of the monotony of working life. The screaming drives him up the wall because he feels guilty for not helping the person screaming, this leads to his alcoholism

He wanted to escape his past and start a new life. But he let his regrets drag him down, down until he succumbed. He had no choice but to embrace his past.
you could be reading in too much but i like the analysis btw if you want to make a serious comment try a more serious username because its hard to take people seriously like that lmao
The story is basically, the adult life when you move out of home. The depiction is clear, too lazy to explain but. You want something, then work. Living alone, having fun at night. But the city life is noisy, unpeaceful. An everyday repeat, occasionally there's something new, but otherwise it's just a repeated cycle in that life. Girl finding the cat is your first home before you grown out, your parents or loved ones, theyre missing you everyday. City life as an adult is fun, you could do everything you want as long as you can, but some things just get tiring, especially when everytime it's like that, unless it's your passion. I don't have anything against barbers, but clearly, some jobs you work on is not really want you want or your passion in your life, some of us are just forced on circumstances.
I literally watched this last year, I liked it and everything. It was lurking in my reccomended for three days and I finally watched it. Thanks youtube algorithm!!
Definitely think the screaming voice he hears at night is his own conscience regretting him leaving his home. When he tells it to shut up, he’s come to the conclusion he needs to return home.
Idk if I could have related to this anymore than I do right now. The whole being on your own trying to make it, the pestering screams of 'shit this don't work', the drinks to try and drown the noise out, being fired and going back home. Damn..
So my (personal) interpretation of this is that its about what it's like to be a young person living on your own for the first time, being an "adult", and subsequently growing up from the hardships of that experience and eventually returning home again (maybe only temporarily, to learn from his mistakes and work towards adulthood more slowly). The music/tone of the first parts is really fast-paced, the colors warm and bright, which effectively give everything a "hectic but exciting" vibe. He gets a job really quickly to a manager who seems genuinely cool with letting him on the team (he's probably thinking, dang, it was that easy!). Of course that same manager who let him on so casually also dropped him equally as casually - there's a lot to be said about being young and stumbling across a lot of really good luck, and a lot of really bad luck too (sometimes both in one). It's equal parts incredibly easy to survive and incredibly difficult. The kid screaming feels like a representation of immaturity. There's stress bubbling up at pretending to be an adult before actually feeling like one -- on top of financial stress, genuine risk of failure, etc. It's hard to come to grips with when you're experiencing freedom for the first time and it's something you desperately value. He ignores it. I think it's also important to note that the yelling only happens at night when he's not working or drinking (aka, when there's nothing actively occupying him). The stress of adulthood and functioning as an adult despite not being one is completely burning him out; as much as he denies its existence ("it's not my problem"), he's really just denying the fact that he's still a young person. He wants to make this whole 'living on his own despite being a fuckin cat' thing work. In the end everything falls apart, but it's not actually the end of the road. He loses his apartment, his job, his morale to an extent-- but he's able to pack up and head back home. And home isn't bright and exciting, it's blue and muted, calm and maybe dreary. His caregiver sees him, he's admitting to his failures by showing himself to her at all, and they embrace. She accepts him back because she loves him, and I think there's a bittersweet peace to that. It's night but for the first time there's no screaming, because that very basic vulnerability was shared and received affectionately. A big part of growing up is knowing when you're not yet grown up (and clearly, telling that stressed voice to "shut up" didn't stop the bad things from happening). I think lastly, the creator of this animation is clearly an artist. Going to a big city with very little in your name and running away from the suburbs is pretty typical of any art student (speaking from personal experience), as is being broke/working odd jobs/etc.I think the subject matter in that sense is probably pretty familiar to her, her colleagues, and a lot of people in her life in general. Everyone wants to "make it" and is terrified of failure/getting "found out" and exposed as a child masquerading as a functioning adult, even though it's through that admittance that one becomes an adult in the first place. But that's just my take! Could be totally off. I love these animations because I feel like the best way to understand them is to get a grasp on the feelings it gives you before anything else.
lili barrow HEY YOU! COMMENTER PERSON! THIS WAS A BEAUTIFULLY SAD ANALYSIS AND I LOVE IT! I was thinking along the same exact lines for the general plot but fell short on how the screaming girl came into play. My original thought process was the cat’s exposure to real life is represented through the screaming girl. The cat was likely shielded where it grew up with its owner, or at least hasn’t been able to be a REAL adult under her care. The cat lacked real life experience but despite his lack of knowledge on the real world, it moves out. It oozes confidence in its new lifestyle choice as well (considering he bought an apartment with no job, and that just proves more that he doesn’t understand the real world and could have very possibly been shielded) Due to its little experience with real life application, it’s discovers how life is often hard and upsetting as it goes. This is where it falls into a depression that leads into an addiction to dull out the stress and realizations that come from a shield from life being removed. I loved your analysis a whole lot, I would type more but I have to wake up in 3 hours for an internship interview but rather I’m watching this video for the fifth time
about the random screaming child... "Someone asked me why the kid is screaming because it's not explained in the film. There is frequent screaming outside of the apartment complex I live in. I don't know who is screaming or why. Life is full of absurd and unexplainable stuff." girlsinfilm.net/videos/cat-city
Even tho she didn't intend it, I interpreted the girl as problems that come with a big change, at first you don't think it's even a problem, then it's so bad you're escaping from it, until you decide to confront it but by the time you do the damage will have been done
I think- The little girl screaming is his owner when she was a little girl. That is his memory of her and sensing her pain of separation. If it was a random kid, then after it stopped crying, he could just go back to living his independent life, but by telling the girl to Shut up, he is accepting and confronting her (feelings) and going back to her soon afterward.
Everyone's confused about the screamer, but I thought the screamer was just a relatable thing. That always happens in my apartment complex. Like there is always that one resident who is fucking SCREAMING at random hours of the day and night, at the top of their lungs. I'm serious, that is not an understatement. Its exactly like in the video. You'll just hear kids SCREAMING or you'll here people just yelling profanities with no discernible pattern. The first time you hear it, you just sit in bed wondering if they're being attacked, but then you're like "Its not my problem," and you go to sleep. But then it keeps going for days and your guilt gets to you, maybe its abuse, maybe some human centipede shit is going on, so you finally check, and you find out they're perfectly fine and its just kids playing, or young adults really drunk just messing around, screaming with their friends. And you're internally just like "Hey, can you shut the fuck up."
That really fricking sucks but who knows what the creator tried to portray in this one, I mean the main character is a freaking cat that had a job and human complicities, it could really mean anything...
I think all that stuff representa that everybody needs for the other People.. You can try to live alone, but you can't ignore the other lifes... And for that reason, sometiimes is better live with People that take care about you.. You can't be selfish always... Like the girl (childish mood), like the cat (independent selfish mood).. And the alcohol just worst the situation
@@hamsterball.0 Oh yeah, I have no idea if this is actually what was intended, it was just my take. I was confused when people thought there was more to it, but I understood why they would think that after thinking about it.

I feel like the child screaming represents him missing his childhood. Eventually he gets tired of the adult life and decides to move back.

Ohh... So that's where cats go when they runaway from home. All makes sense now!

Did anyone else get teary eyed when the girl opened the door and looked down and said nothing and just gave the cat a hug? Unconditional love.

Definitely think the screaming voice he hears at night is his own conscience regretting him leaving his home. When he tells it to shut up, he’s come to the conclusion he needs to return home.
That's what I got too. It takes a second before you realize "hey why doesn't he deal with it?"
especially cause the little girl looks kinda like his owner
i thought it was because he got eviction notice
Idk if I could have related to this anymore than I do right now. The whole being on your own trying to make it, the pestering screams of 'shit this don't work', the drinks to try and drown the noise out, being fired and going back home. Damn..
The animation style coupled with the Jazz music reminds me a lot of Ed, Edd n Eddy. Keep up the great work!
CreepyCrunch YESSS ed edd n eddy were the shit
It reminds me of that one show 'Home movies'
The neighborhood at the end there looked a bit like the one in Ed, Edd n Eddy
I was looking for a comment like this. The Ed Edd and Eddy vibes are really strong
S River I remember that too. From like Adult Swim right?
It oozes confidence in its new lifestyle choice as well (considering he bought an apartment with no job, and that just proves more that he doesn’t understand the real world and could have very possibly been shielded)
Due to its little experience with real life application, it’s discovers how life is often hard and upsetting as it goes.

Life is full of absurd and unexplainable stuff." girlsinfilm.net/videos/cat-city
thanks man :o
Maybe there's a cat in the area that works as a barber
Even tho she didn't intend it, I interpreted the girl as problems that come with a big change, at first you don't think it's even a problem, then it's so bad you're escaping from it, until you decide to confront it but by the time you do the damage will have been done
I knew it. People reading deep thoughts into that particular aspect of the story never lived in a sketchy neighborhood.
I guess that answers one question but creates a whole other one, who was screaming every day and why where they screaming in the first place.

At first, I thought the screaming person is the owner that is looking for the cat or screaming out of pain of missing it so much :D
Or it’s just some weird girl.
Big brain
Sarah this is a nice interpretation
lady stardust glad you think so 💛
I think this is just a random story about a cat. Not everything has to have a deep meaningz
Exactly, it's making me mad that people are trying to peel layers off of a tomato
