Cabin in the Woods 25: Metal Siding, More Versetta Stone, Sick Drone Footage

  • In this episode of Cabin in the Woods, we continue installing more metal siding on an extremely warm day! I love the color scheme of this project as we continue to cover up the exterior. As the sun starts shifting around the building we try to follow the shade, which leads me back to installing versetta stone around the chimney.
Wait till the end if you want to see some sick drone footage of the current build status as well as some of the first drone footage of the metal standing seam roof we installed. It looks pretty awesome!

Kyle,Just wanted to say that I can appreciate the amount of work you had to do to get everything done before you set the first post. After 35 years as a contractor I can say most people do not have a clue how much work is involved in doing a material take off for a project like this. It is what is required to make it look easy at this stage. Now you can enjoy the reward of actually building and seeing your finished product. Thanks for the content. It is also a lot of work to put it up,and appreciated.

You guys need to put a 2” piece of pvc ziptied to the side of the lift and drop an umbrella in the pipe for when working in the sun. Even if it just gives you a place to get under when waiting for next piece. It would be easy to lower and take out of the pipe if not needed.

With all the fervor over the Versetta Stone corners..your idea of using factory ends that have a more consistent protrusion of the brick..as you did on the chimney corner..is very..very good. P.S. I commented earlier..about replacing the corner cut ones you used with the V.S. rep..no reply. Stay Safe.Great Build.

I have understood your regional work area for some time- but I wasn't aware that Jimmie Diresta was relocating out of New York. This is by way of hinting you ought to think about Chattanooga, Tenn. FWIW, this "little cabin in the woods" is looking more awesome with each episode- glad you brought us along! Also, if you would, what are the rest of your regular crew doing? Gregg is a fair hand but it takes more than just Gregg to do some of the immense barns and machinery buildings you do!

Yep, that is going to be a hansom home. I'm also surprised that there isn't any provision being made for HVAC , perhaps it's just to early in the build. AND, I think that I might be envious of a having a roll up door on the house too; sure would make moving furniture and appliances in and out so much easier. 👍

It's coming together great! I'm about to go upgrade my compound miter saw (Ridgid) for a dual bevel sliding 12" Dewalt. I need a little help being more precise and laying baseboard flat because it won't fit nested is just really ruining my progress. Plus, it doesn't maintain square when doing a bevel cut for some reason. I'm going to enjoy seeing you do baseboards in this place.
