The callback to the bagel joke was something I was not expecting. This movie was great at blending comedy with seriousness.
Edit: I did not watch the trailer. So thats why it was a surprise to me. I lost track of movies. Even if it was obvious, its still a funny nod

All Spider-people have a habit of doing something innocuous that becomes a huge problem later on.

You got to give Sony props for the writing in regards to The Spot. The took one of the few "joke" villains in Marvel and turned him into a menace while blending both seriousness and comedy towards this character

As soon as I saw that they were on Earth-42, I knew something was going to go wrong with Miles' doppelganger in that dimension. Then when the Prowler came on screen on that rooftop WHILE AARON WAS STILL THERE, I caught on immediately.

Spot was a joke for so long, it's great to see he is not only getting respected screentime, but he's an ongoing problem that escalates and now with the ending to the movie, Miles realizes just how serious & big of a threat the Spot actually is. Never underestimate your opponents or they can become multiuniverse-level threats that can ruin your entire existence.

The best part is the writers definetly planned for the bagel to be important since the first movie
No they didn’t. The bagel isn’t even important. What they did plan was for a scientist to be caught in the collider explosion and become Spot. But they decided to have him be the one scientist who was hit by the bagel as a callback to that joke. The bagel literally changed nothing, people are taking this “bagel effect” joke too serious as if it has an actual importance in Spot’s creation or the narrative.

W/ the name itself and character design and how wacky he was, it's hard to digest this was a villain ngl
Spot is one of my favorite characters in that film, they did a phenomenal job not only designing him to look more menacing over time.
The first time miles encounters him he looks goofy and is clumsy, he says corny villain lines in a geeky tone cause he has no experience, nor does he really want to be, its only when he actually gets pissed off from miles insulting the hell out of him and treating him poorly does he actually become kinda scary for a second.
His second encounter starts him off like hes a seasoned veteran, its quickly established that spot has become way stronger within a short timespan, hes still somewhat goofy but hes far more slippery and actually rocks miles shit MULTIPLE times, all while acting casual and even having a silly conversation with pavitir about his journey of self improvement.
When he gets to the collider though, he just absolutely drops the act, he stops caring about acting like a "villain of the week" and all thats left is a vengeful, broken, angry man who wants miles to know how pissed off he is, if you pay attention he doesnt even try to harm the other spider people that much, he usually just flings them through a portal to keep them away from him, whereas with miles he instantly throws hands when given the chance.
And obviously theres his final form, which looks absolutely disturbing and eldritch, his few lines of dialogue in this form really shows how much he has changed, his personality was once this clumsy goofy weirdo, now its more akin to a vengeful god.
Had already seen both, but was watching 'Into' for the first time with my dad before we went to see 'Across' and when he grabbed the Bagel I yelled "DAD, WATCH THE BAGEL!" just to make sure. Went to see 'Across' same day and his theatre reaction to the Bagel callback was awesome.
Super funny to know that an inside "BAGEL!" joke became a plot device for the next movie
My favorite part of the movie is when the bagel said “It’s bagel time!” then bagelled the spot all over the spot
