    What helped me with my online classes is delegating an hour and a half to each class and doing them in the same place at the same time every day. Whether it be in the school library or at a coffee shop, I never did them at my home. It made me stay on top of it and since I did it at the same time, it felt like I HAD to go!

    When I'm more excited about your school schedule than my own 😂😂 8 classes?!?! R.I.P. if that was me!! I LOVE how passionate you are about education! You're going to be a fantastic R.D.!!!

    Love this series idea!
    The "reward yourself with an air fryer or an instant pot... because that's what we do here" is actually so true I'm not even mad 😂😂😭

    Advanced nutrition was my FAV class 🙌🏻 you are going to love it 😍 I also HATED management classes in school, but ended up in the management field. I didn’t like the professor butttttt I did discover my passion for child nutrition and working in schools.

    I'm just finishing up my very first semester as a Dietetics student, and I love it. You talking about the different classes and the type of information that is to come makes me even more excited! :D

    Loved this, especially how you thought about how each of your classes can benefit you. Normally I just think about how my classes are going to stress me out. Your way of thinking is way better!

    I graduated in May 2017 with my BS in food and nutrition! My version of your advanced nutrition class was called Experimental and functional food science. I loved it SO much and it’s ultimately what made me decide to pursue my PhD

    I love how passionate you are about your studies. Personally, I feel the same way but in the environmental aspect. I'm hoping to find sustainable ways to live that TRULY make an impact in saving our planet. Veganism is one of them so hopefully I can advocate for that too. I don't think you can be an environmentalist without being vegan

    Really loved this video! It’s so interesting to see what others are studying. I’m getting my BS in computer science so completely unrelated but I love the field of dietetics! I wish I could take 8 classes per semester but none of the computer science courses are offered online at my school. So I will only get to do 4-5 classes per semester. I only have a year left, so your experience with internships and applying for jobs and getting ready for the “real world” would really be helpful for me :)

    This video was so helpful! I can not wait for more day in a life videos where we can see your school schedule in action. It would also be really helpful to see videos about what you are going to eat during your "busy" days so we can get good ideas for quick nutrient dense vegan meals. Good luck with your upcoming school work and classes :)

    Question! How long was your program? I have 3 semesters left and I feel like we started around the same time, and then I have the internship and grad school for another 10 months once I finish undergrad to take the RD exam

    Could you talk about the coordinated program in nutrition/dietetics and the benefits of that over a regular dietetics major? Also, are you working on your masters now or going to school for that after the RD exam? I'm in community college and trying to plan where I'm going for nutrition and dietetics and I love that I've found someone with that major! Love you sm!

    • @alllls113
      @alllls113 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the "regular" dietetics is just the didactic coursework and just academic courses that will get you an undergrad degree in dietetics. The coordinated program is combining the didactic coursework in undergrad with the supervised practice that must be done before you can even sit for the rd exam. Otherwise, you have to complete undergrad ("regular") and then go on to do the internship and supervised practice and then masters... unless your internship is a combined masters and supervised practice where you can get your MS and interning done and sit for the exam already a master. Theres many options, however there are few coordinated programs and are expensve so most people do undergrad and go on to do internship after undergrad graduation (whether that be combined with a masters or just the supervised practice). Pros and cons to all paths. The benefit of a coordinated program is getting to learn the info and then learning through experience....as well as avoiding the whole DICAS internship application fiasco. I recommend going to eatright.org and browsing around will answer alot of your questions and you can filter through all the programs available.

    You have youtube, I have varsity athletics. I find it extremely difficult to find time to volunteer. I am Canadian, therefore our schooling is a bit different and we are actually required to find and apply to our own dietetic internship which fill up very fast. We also need the internship to write our RD exam. Volunteering sets you apart for sure. I guess what I'm trying to ask is how do you balance all aspects of your life? I find that I am so tired at the end of the day that when I sit down to study my brain just isn't as elastic as it needs to be to actively study.

    girllllll!!! I am so happy for you!! :) I am a freshmen dietetic student at Clemson University and in my second semester right now!! I can't wait until I am in my senior year! Honestly, the dietetics program is SO hard lol!!! PLZ pray that I make it to my Senior year hahahah! It is so hard that I honestly have been feeling super discouraged and unmotivated:( did you ever feel this way? Any advice??

    Hey Amanda! Can you talk about the classes you took to get to where you are now? (I.e. classes you took freshman year,etc) I’m currently a sophomore in college majoring in mathematics, but I don’t think this path is for me. I’m really interested in nutrition/dietetics and food science and really want to learn more. It would be really helpful if you talked about this in one of your future video. 🙂

    Thank you for this video. I finally moved to US part time for 6 months to see how it goes. I am starting schooling for my post grad now for exam training. I put a no contact rule for my partner and I and I was sad past two days as I am finally in his country, so that was hard. But I am here for me. I hope with the space I give him we can grow, but if not its ok, I am mentally preparing myself. I started implementing a lot of things in writing and a lot due to you. I always think affirmations in my head but writing hopefully helps. I am going to read them everyday.
    Could you do a video maybe about positive affirmations, manifesting what we want? You seem like you would be amazing for it to talk about.
    I have been continuously not allowing myself to enjoy til I got somewhere but it doesn't work, and I repeated mistakes. So now I'm being more loose and trying to sooth myself. To perk myself up again. I keep trying to soothe myself and I don't procrastinate often but I hope the universal vibes change for me in 2018. I sat in meditation in a temple today which I rarely do when I go, so it means that I am stressed, but it was a good session.

I would love to know more about what your ex phys teacher says cause ours didnt say much about nutrition! I also took world religions, so interesting!

    How easy is it to transfer to a nutrition/dietetics program from a different major/program, or as an older student? Sorry I'm in my final year in high school but I applied to architecture programs, just curious!

    Can you do a video on how you picked a College to study Dietetics. What do you look for in a program and how did you decide what school to go to? Thanks! P.S. I want to become a Registered Dietitian but I'm having trouble picking a college and I'm not sure what I am looking for in a program.

    Do you meal prep in order to spend less time in the kitchen when you study ? I really struggle with this point, because cooking take me so much time ! And when i meal prep i feel like it doesn’t last any longer than 3 days.. any tips for this ?
    I love this new type of videos, keep doing it, it’s really helpfull ! Love you from France 😘

    I’m a junior in high school and it’s my dream to become a Registered Dietitian. I currently volunteer in my local hospital and will be transferred to the Nutrition unit. I’m also applying for an internship to shadow a Dietitian and will probably take Culinary at my school. What else should I do in order to get into a undergraduate Nutrition program? I have a 4.0 (all A’s) and planning to take the SAT. Any advice?

      Put your heart and soul into it. In my experience, it was those who had a true burning passion for nutrition are the ones who got accepted into my coordinated program. As far as undergrad, you sound like you’ve got it on lock down with your grades, SATs, and volunteering!

    Hi Amanda, I'm new here and have never reached out to any students that are in the program, so I thought id give it a try in hopes that I get my questions answered. Im currently enrolled in a community college and I'm not really that close to applying yet, but I wanted to still get information/guidance so that I'm aware.
    The Dietetic Program says that its 18 months, but I wanted to know if I can take 2 to 3 classes even though its 18 months. I'm not sure if its already a set schedule to take 8 or more, or if its really at your own pace. I came across your video and thought I should definitely reach out. I know the program here in Colorado says that its 18 months, so is this program condensed, or can I go at my own pace and take fewer courses if I choose too?
    also, If I do the program online, Can I go at my own pace too even though its 18 months?

    • @amandavsevilla
      @amandavsevilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on your program. I would call them specifically to find out. I called the school i am now attending sooo many times because i had so many questions. But it's different for every institution so call them and make sure :)

      applesandamandas I’m sorry. I should have made sure I knew what exactly what I was asking.. I meant the dietetic program not the internship. It makes sense though now. When you mentioned that your going in from 8-4 and than have 8 classes with that. I thought this was for the dietetic program. I misunderstood.. either way was it required that you had to take 8 classes in addition to going in at 8-4?? Do all internships work that way?
