Ex.NYCDOT/MTA Bus Company & NYC Bus | 1997-99 OBI Orion 05.501 CNG Review

- These are the 1997-99 Orion V CNGs, as the most legendary Orion V CNGs and also Orion Vs in all series. Command Bus Company was the first to get these in 1997, second was Queens Surface Corporation with the largest, and finally was Triborough Coach with their dysfunctional maintenance. Until after the Takeover in 2006, these buses were rapidly repainted for the MTA bus Company season. I love the QSC painted Orion V CNGs most of the 3 lines. In 2009, NYCT had then received these at West Farms Depot and Jackie Gleason Depot. This is how in 2011, I rode one of these once and the ride was excelling compared to it's older siblings from Orion Bus Industries in 2007. By 2013, it became uncommon for NYCT to get these transferred and retired from the start. And JFK Depot, was another special depot to get these after Hurricane Sandy. And some to get out of Long Island Bus, when NICE tookover with their great history of their Orion V CNGs. In 2014, MTA bus Company was ending the legacy with LaGuardia having them as a loan, then College Point Depot gets them back last. 9849 was the very in service Orion V CNG to end the era.

I have so many memories of seeing these in the B103 at 4th Ave & Union St. I remember seeing these on the B63 as well.
BM5 of today was the BQM1 of yesterday. I remember riding the Orion V CNGs on the B103 along the Prospect Expressway and these buses go crazy fast. I also enjoy those luxury seats that they had. Real comfy. This video gives me memories. Keep them rollin'.

Fun fact, Orion V CNGs in the 7200s, 8582, 9998-9999 were never used for express service again following the 2010 budget crisis
Oh how vividly I remember these things, I saw the 9800s on the B8,B11,B68 and the 700s on the B103. I always miss these
Oh my gosh! I remember living in Park Slope when I was little and hearing these, the Origional C40LFs and Orion VII CNGs. I was upset about the newer generation C40LFs at first, however, now smince 2020, I have been more of a fan of the newer generation C40LFs and XN40s.
The disadvantage of these are, the wheelchair-accessible entrances are in the rear doors, having the Origional C40LFs being the very first low floor buses of New York City Transit.
No, these buses operated out of 7 depots at one time, LGA, CP, SC, JG, WF, MF, and RVC.

And this time the World🌎 famous Orion V C.N.G'S of NYC DOT Private Bus Line from the late 1990s-untill January 05 or or 06 then To the newly created MTA Bus Company. Witch they had last unit they either retired or temporarily sent to either Jackie Gleason or West Frams . And some event had made out to Long Island Bus . Before LIB had replaced by Nice Bus and some of them had came to MTA Bus. And for those of them that didn't make it back. They were retired.
Rip, Cng version is my second fave after the ex Beelines

Ah these buses, never really got to experience these, these sounded really good, oh boy i wished to see them using zf ecomat or Voith, other than the b400r known to ruin the sound of engines imo, it sounds so basic asf. Other than that since i dont really have too much about these, there are cool
