NYCT Bus | 2011 Daimler Chrysler Orion 07.501 3G Review

- These Orion VII 3Gs I would've ridden, were the first redesigned diesel powered Orion VII models brought to NYC. These are the cousins of the hybrid powered Orion VII NGs. They are similar in designs exccept for the vents, windows/doors, and powertrain. One thing that I forget to mention, the 3G does not have a battery on it's rooftop. That way you can know which is NG or 3G.
In 2011, it was akward not seeing any 3Gs but I always see the NG HEVs. 2012 comes in, and all od these 3Gs from Ulmer Park and Queens Village crashed into Castleton Depot. Castleton Depot receibes these to increase durability measures. Those replaced the 2011 LFS' to Queens. In 2015, the bike rack program became offical along with the 2015-16 LFS' from the same depot as them for the S53 and S93 routes. Until 2017, I saw one for the first time on the S53 when coming from New Jersey. And this year, I catch more in sight along with the LFS of 2015-16 & 2019 in Bay Ridge.

Probably the most NYC bus of all time, no i mean it literally, its not the worst its not the best, its just, THE NYC bus in NYCT imo
I remember seeing these in a video in 2012 of a bus action at Northern Blvd & Francis Lewis Blvd.

The LFSs in 2011 are actually the best.
I got a chance to ride WMATAs 3G HEVs (3070 and 3079) with my grandmother in DC.
Yep they were vanished to Staten Island and gave ulmer and eny the rest of 2011 xd40s and QV the 2011 LFS
4:54 The Bx23 and Q50 also had the bike racks in 2018. Then in 2023, the M35, M60-SBS, Q44-SBS, and S79-SBS have the bike racks, which tells me that the Bx23 was the first bus route in the Bronx to have bike racks, the M35 and M60-SBS to be the first routes out of Manhattan to have bike racks, also the first SBS route to have bike racks, the Q44-SBS to be the 2nd bus route in Queens to have bike racks, and the S79-SBS to be the 2nd route in Staten Island to have bike racks, also the 3rd SBS route to have bike racks. There are other bike routes that should get the bike racks since they travel on the bridge. Those routes should be:
Bx3, Bx6-SBS, Bx7, Bx11, Bx12/Bx12-SBS, Bx13, Bx19, Bx29, Bx33, Bx35, Bx36 in the Bronx
B24, B32, B39, B62 in Brooklyn
M125 in Manhattan
Q32, Q35, Q54, Q56, Q60, Q101, Q102 in Queens
Should all of these routes that I have mentioned get bike racks? If they do, that will be great.
Bx3, Bx6/SBS, Bx7, Bx11, Bx12/Bx12-SBS, Bx13, Bx19, Bx29, Bx33, Bx35, Bx36 in the Bronx*
Also Q52 and Q53 SBSs need bike racks because they run on the Cross Bay Bridge
And LGA Link Q70 SBS (I forgot to mention) because it runs on the Brooklyn-Queens Expy

Vulnerable Toyota I hope they are the last Orion bus in Daimer Chrysler Orion 7. The bus might not come up with new buses. I just love Castleton bus 7000-7089 are my favorite bus in history. I banned 3800-4702 I think that was the next generation fleet numbers.

The rear doors are much better. I consider these better than the XD40s and LFSs, which is usually odd, because in general, Orion buses have less quality.
It's sad to hear but Castleton wants to get rid of the 3Gs, and since no other depot wants to take them they want them gone by the next 2 years. So go catch them while you can! (tbh I wish they could go to flatbush)
