I've been trying to SR for years now (I'm not into SR so much, so it was a slow process) but I was over odds, in 5 thousand and such SRs.... and in like, 3 or 4 hours since I started watching this video and the tutorial, I managed to get it today!!! tbh I didn't get the Synchronize part 100%, I thought that putting the nature on the software, I wouldn't need to use synchronize.... So I moved my Abra from the first spot lol.... but anyways, If I bring Darkrai to the modern games, it's easy to change it hahaha Thanks for the awesome work!!!
Man... This one was stressful. Took too many tries (still less than random encounters) but everytime I was hitting like 2 frames before or after. And it took so long to retry. 20 blinks ain't no joke. But finally I got it!
This method works for Giratina too. Got shiny Giratina in two attempts, monitoring blinks in the room outside, then reidentifying in front of Giratina. Very nice!
Nice work! Indeed the methods I use for each Pokemon are not rigid. Its a powerful set of tools, and there are multiple ways to get the Pokemon you want. Once you understand how things work, you can start coming up with methods of your own to get Pokemon I haven't covered specifically! And you've done so beautifully 😘

I did it more like Shaymin, but instead just running up and mashing A after leaving the underground. Took some trial and error, but once I was consistently getting a frame or so early/late I knew I was on the right track. Got a shiny Spiritomb the same way. After the nightmare that was Shaymin, I feel like a master at this.. haha
Getting Spiritomb is very difficult! Congratulations! I haven't even tried. Being able to come up with your own methods and successfully executing is the definition of mastering the core concepts. You're a star! 😘

IT REALLY WORKED!! I was doing the traditional method and was SR for almost 4days, then I saw your video. I was doubting whether I give up the SR method since I already did it for 4days already, or give it a try your(this) method. I'm NOT techy and stuff, and I dont have a webcam. So I use the droidcam in my samsung phone instead, then follow your step by step instructions.. I was so surprised that I was stunned for 3seconds after shiny darkrai appeared. And everything was exactly as it is.. nature, stats, and when to press the A button on my switch. Thank you so much and you save my time wasting on this traditional method of SR. To everyone who is doubting that this method works, I'm telling you it is REAL and it works!! I'm not techy and everything, I just followed Papa Jefe's video instructions step by step. Hey jefe, great video. I have a question, so I noticed that there is a problem when I use the reidentify with reident 1 PK NPC. Because when I use it my programm just freezes for about 3 or 4 minutes and nothing happens after the 20 blinks are done. After that the programm just keeps working like nothing ever happened. The problem is, that it takes to long after the 20 blinks to show me my advances because I'm always missing my target advance bacause of the long waiting period. And I don't understand why that is the case bacause I have the problem only at reident 1 pk and not at monitor blinks or the normal reidentify as well. Maybe you know how to fix this.
Download the old version of the program. with the last update it wont work wasted 4hours on the recent one but got it first try to work on the older one.@@Keybindss

I've managed to set up my seed, and keep doing reidentify until I'm within 100-200 of my target A press. I have pressed exactly on my A press but my results seem so inconsistent. Sometimes I'm 1 off, sometimes I'm 5-6 off Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've been trying this RNG method for 2 days now. I can't help but think I'm messing something up

I would have never even tried to get a shiny Darkrai because the shiny is not that different from the original but with this I'm 100% getting it. The method worked perfectly for Arceus and I got it in 10 minutes. Thank you so much. I would like to ask tho, is there a way to do this kind of thing to get a shiny starter in Sword/Shield?
I was able to get shiny Arceus earlier tonight, and then went on to get shiny Darkrai shortly after on the first try. Darkrai is MUCH easier to get imo. A few tedious steps are taken out which leaves less room for error or blinks from the PkMn. Like, the 'timeline' part is not needed. Essentially get your seed, advance some frames and when you're close, press A at the right time. No need for the 'timeline' in this particular hunt didn't allow Darkrai to possibly blink during those last few secs. Shiny Darkrai and Arceus in one night. Shiny Shaymin first but that was through SRs. Thank you again!
I cannot describe how impossible this feels when you have ADD. I hate using it as an excuse but holy cow, this task seems genuinely insurmountable for me. The furthest I’ve ever gotten with blink method was getting a seed. Now every time I try there are errors…

I’m able to get a seed and reidentify properly, but when I catch Darkrai the IVs/nature I’m getting aren’t showing up on my timeline at all. Not close, not far, just not there. I’m using the IV calculator in pokefinder. Ever have that happen, or know any possible explanation?
Papa! I literally got the shiny first try. False swipe then switched to roserade to put it to sleep. Missed the sleep powder and darkrai got poisined by hitting my roserade and died! hahaha im so mad

I’ve been “normally” shiny hunting darkrai. After watching some of your vids does this mean I have to land the right advance when I reboot the game? So I would I have to hope the shiny advance is at the start of the seed?
I heard from somewhere that you can't catch both shiny Cresselia and shiny Darkrai in the same save, but since you can catch it before doing the whole Darkrai quest, I'm guessing that's false?
The blinks are just telling us the RNG seeds. Every advance of the RNG has a 1/4096 chance of being shiny. It's just how the math works. It's just not exactly once every 4096 frames. It's just an average distribution.
I noticed during the shiny capture, your delay was set to 83 instead of 84 is there a reason for this? my python window also regularly shows one frame behind the gray info screen, any advice?
Hopefully someone sees this comment, say your doing this and get a seed, input it then get a time of 380 seconds, basically what I’m asking is is it NECESSARY to do reident 1 PK reidentify??
Yes it's necessary because of all the RNG noise on the island, as I showed earlier in the video. The Advances are cooking too fast. You can't hit one that early, and should really pick your target after reidentifying.
Hi, thank you so much for your videos, I'm having a lil issue and hope you can help me as I'm not sure what am I doing wrong. I'm doing this with a webcam, everything inside the base goes smooth, I get my initial seed, I can reidentify inside there without troubles. The problem is when I step outside and go to Darkrai, I try to reidentify but get the following error: Exception in thread Thread-48: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Jason\Desktop\BDSP RNG\Project XS\src\player_blink_gui.py", line 604, in reidentifying_work self.rng, adv = rngtool.reidentiy_by_intervals(Xorshift(*state), TypeError: cannot unpack non-iterable NoneType object Any ideas of what is causing this error? I have taken many eye snips to try to correct it but it doesn't seems to work.
When I go from the camera config to the turnback config (trying giratina) I got no preview on any channel and my error code is "exception: window not found" How can I fix this?
Even when I identify like 100 frames from the shiny frame I am off by like 20 frames every time, even after messing with the delay (setting it to lower or higher) I am always off, what am I doing wrong?
I'm still trying but I honestly to identify around 250-300 advances because my character takes forever to blink, even if only 20 times. There have been times where I reidentify around 300 before but then end up 100 advances after my target. Blink darn you!
does the RNG seed, change everytime you restart the game?, like if it was suppose to be a shiny at 2067, if the game was reset would the shiny still be at 2067 or would it have changed?
No, has to be inside a secret base. You can safely run from Darkrai and it will let you come back to the island by going back to the house in Canalave.
@@PapaJefeYT Does it respawn every time you go back there (unless caught) or would it require beating the league again? Just need to make sure about that before I commit to running from it. Kinda need to get a dedicated catcher and several more balls before I start doing attempts.

Yes and no. No video game has true randomness, they are all faking it in some way. If you don't know what's happening in the background, it's functionally the same. When you get a shiny normally, you just got lucky and landed on a shiny RNG state by sheer chance. The seed changes every reset, and potential shiny Pokemon on average appear once every 1/4096 RNG advances. Sometimes more often, sometimes less.
@@PapaJefeYT No way!! T.T so you may never ever ever get a shiny by keeping on trying?? The video was interesting, but I didn't really understand how to use it (sorry, it was a little overwhelming). Personally I probably wouldn't want to use it because I like to try and get things without the help of programs or looking up guides. But if there is next to no chance of getting a shiny starter... does that meant I have to be consistent with my button mashing speed to have the 1/4096 chance? Will stopping to do other things inbetween make that chance next to nothing?
@@strawberrymoonphased no the odds are always 1/4096. Every reset you get to encounter 1 Pokemon, and eventually that one Pokemon will line up with the RNG and be shiny. The most important thing is "encounters per hour" if you're regular hunting. Period. You'll drive yourself crazy if you hunt the normal way and worry "is this a bad seed?" Or something like that.

is there something that i can do to prevent the reident at darkrai from showing the incorrect frame advances? because quite often it says that its 40k+ while its actual number is below 5k, and after serveral reidents it finally gives me the correct number, but by then it also overshot the frame due to it taking so long per reident at darkrai. also yes i am folowing your instructions exactly as shown in the video
if you're getting false positives, it might be misregistering single\double blinks. Try adjusting your threshold, and watching the command prompt, making sure that if your character single or double blinks, its tracking correctly.

Oh no really? Sometimes the install.bat bugs out, but I assume you tried running it multiple times. If one of the dependencies is fully deprecated, I'll have to reach out to Lincoln for an update.
Does anyone know how to adjust the screen size in Player Blink? I’m using a Genki Shadowcast, and The screen is too big for me to see the X Y W H, etc. settings on the right side. I figure if I can make the screen smaller, I can see everything. Switch settings doesn’t help, and I can’t expand the window far enough to find the axis adjustments either.
Problems with Eye Snip Poorly Configured Threshold Wrong # of NPCs set in config (should be 0 inside Secret Base) Depending on setup, if you're using a camera glare on screen or screen dimming. You want to watch the blinks happen, and ensure that all single blinks and double blinks are registering properly. If it misses ANY blinks at all, it will fail. It needs to be perfectly recording, so watch the command prompt as you're monitoring and make sure that what the program sees, lines up with what you're seeing. If its not, tweak the threshold or take new eye snips, until it is. I recommend using the "Raw Screenshot" button in the program, rather than the Snipping Tool now. The Snipping Tool doesn't always match the resolution of the video feed, and so this can cause errors.
So I’m on New Moon island and I can’t get off? Is there a way to get a digger drill in the underground around Darkrai? Or do I have to defeat Darkrai and redo some stuff in the game to have him appear again so I can get a digger drill ? I am running the program (on macOS) and for some reason it is capturing the camera from the laptop (which i dont want) and it's not giving me a projection from the windowed OBS projection. I did everything on that file that and put all the commands correctly... Uncheck Monitor Window, as it won't work on Mac. You need to use the Camera Index numbers, as done in the "Quick Start Guide" included with the tools. You'll need to try different "camera" numbers, until you find the correct device. It might also be possible to disable your laptop camera on Mac, if that's causing issues. Although I don't have a Mac myself, so I don't know the exact steps.

@@enio.d4554 there is Mac version of PokeFinder linked in the FAQ. If you're plugged into power you might have better luck with it not freezing. The FAQ should be linked in the description, or included in the latest version of the RNG zip, I uploaded it last week.
I have lots of issue with this Project_Xs tool... waiting minutes and minutes to complete the 40 blinks but it always throws assertion errors which are not really human readable. Already tried with cutting my own eye image and deactivating preview before start monitoring. RIP
Thanks for answering, I already did it; I know the tools works cause eventually it worked when I Tried shiny starter hunting in bdsp in november, but everything I tried to fix it now just doesn’t work anymore. My suggestion would be to stop the process if anything bad or unsure is processed instead of doing all the blinks only to explode xD
so question, if i was to do this with the webcam method, do I *NEED* to switch config from secret_base to cresselia? cuz I seem to only be able to use config_camera and none of the others work for me edit: never mind, I came up with a solution. i just made a copy of the camera config and renamed it so I can switch safely
The only difference between the configs is the settings on the right side, and the eye pictures. So if you're having problems with the other configs it's likely Box position (XY) Box size (WH) Eye picture being too big The other settings on the right are relevant for the Pokemon that use timeline, so if you're going for something like Arceus for example, copy the settings like Time Delay, Advance Delay, and Pokemon NPCs.
I’m getting a “window not found” error when trying to reidentify after finding my initial seed. I’ve followed everything closely and can’t seem to figure it out.
crashes when i switch between configs. Also webcam shows nothing when i switch to cresalia config. This might also be an older version because there is a new box under 1pk that shows some kind of limits. Not working for me would appreciate the help...
Check the FAQ. If you're having issues when switching between configs, you likely just need to update the XY/WH values to match your working config. The new reidentify limits only matter if you're going past frame 100,000 otherwise don't worry about them.

Great video! Something weird happened to me: I followed the steps, thought that I did everything ok, I captured and saw that I hit the frame about nature and IVs, but Pokefinder says should be a shiny and it wasn't...anyone could guess what happened? Pokefinder configuration was Mythical-Arceus
Turn off the shiny filter, and search. Chances are you hit a clump of frames with identical IVs. Happens sometimes, where there's a pack of 3-4 frames with the same stats, but only 1 is shiny. Means you were close and should try again.
@@PapaJefeYT you got the point, it was exactly same pokemon but not shiny one and two frames later... Finally after 23-24 tries I got it...I got to say that it's the hardest RNG I tried to replicate from you, crazy to calibrate...other ones from ramanas park only took me 1-2 times calibrating, and 3-4 for hitting the frame, thx for your videos!!
It's definitely safe, I know the people who make each of the programs personally. Virus Scanners will basically flag any homebrew programs as viruses nowadays.
If you've been able to get a seed before, it's either a setting or a bad eye snip. Make sure that it's not missing any blinks, or miscounting double blinks.
I actually do this at night with my crappy Webcam in docked mode with the camera focused on my TV. It almost ALWAYS gets a seed and re-indentifies well

Took me a few hours for it to work with Epocam and my iPhone. Once the reidentify worked for the first time I got my shiny Darkrai! So thank you!

I've managed to set up my seed, and keep doing reidentify until I'm within 100-200 of my target A press.
I have pressed exactly on my A press but my results seem so inconsistent.
Sometimes I'm 1 off, sometimes I'm 5-6 off
Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've been trying this RNG method for 2 days now. I can't help but think I'm messing something up

I would have never even tried to get a shiny Darkrai because the shiny is not that different from the original but with this I'm 100% getting it. The method worked perfectly for Arceus and I got it in 10 minutes. Thank you so much. I would like to ask tho, is there a way to do this kind of thing to get a shiny starter in Sword/Shield?

Finally got my shiny Darkrai. Thank you Papa Jefe! Final A Press Delay of 83 worked for me instead of 84.
I was able to get shiny Arceus earlier tonight, and then went on to get shiny Darkrai shortly after on the first try.
Darkrai is MUCH easier to get imo. A few tedious steps are taken out which leaves less room for error or blinks from the PkMn. Like, the 'timeline' part is not needed. Essentially get your seed, advance some frames and when you're close, press A at the right time. No need for the 'timeline' in this particular hunt didn't allow Darkrai to possibly blink during those last few secs. Shiny Darkrai and Arceus in one night. Shiny Shaymin first but that was through SRs.

I cannot describe how impossible this feels when you have ADD. I hate using it as an excuse but holy cow, this task seems genuinely insurmountable for me. The furthest I’ve ever gotten with blink method was getting a seed. Now every time I try there are errors…

I’m able to get a seed and reidentify properly, but when I catch Darkrai the IVs/nature I’m getting aren’t showing up on my timeline at all. Not close, not far, just not there. I’m using the IV calculator in pokefinder. Ever have that happen, or know any possible explanation?

I’ve been “normally” shiny hunting darkrai. After watching some of your vids does this mean I have to land the right advance when I reboot the game? So I would I have to hope the shiny advance is at the start of the seed?
Yeah but it's a new seed every time.
So every reset there's a 1/4096 chance of you landing on a shiny advance

I heard from somewhere that you can't catch both shiny Cresselia and shiny Darkrai in the same save, but since you can catch it before doing the whole Darkrai quest, I'm guessing that's false?
If shiny Pokémon are based on blinks then isn’t it a lie when they say the odds are the 1/4096?

They are not based on blinks. You are using blinks to figure out that exact 1/4096 frame
The blinks are just telling us the RNG seeds.
Every advance of the RNG has a 1/4096 chance of being shiny. It's just how the math works.
It's just not exactly once every 4096 frames. It's just an average distribution.
I noticed during the shiny capture, your delay was set to 83 instead of 84 is there a reason for this? my python window also regularly shows one frame behind the gray info screen, any advice?

Yes it's necessary because of all the RNG noise on the island, as I showed earlier in the video. The Advances are cooking too fast. You can't hit one that early, and should really pick your target after reidentifying.

I'm doing this with a webcam, everything inside the base goes smooth, I get my initial seed, I can reidentify inside there without troubles. The problem is when I step outside and go to Darkrai, I try to reidentify but get the following error:

Even when I identify like 100 frames from the shiny frame I am off by like 20 frames every time, even after messing with the delay (setting it to lower or higher) I am always off, what am I doing wrong?

I'm still trying but I honestly to identify around 250-300 advances because my character takes forever to blink, even if only 20 times. There have been times where I reidentify around 300 before but then end up 100 advances after my target.

does the RNG seed, change everytime you restart the game?, like if it was suppose to be a shiny at 2067, if the game was reset would the shiny still be at 2067 or would it have changed?
Yeah it's a new seed every reset. It's not like Emerald where it's the same seed every time.

No, has to be inside a secret base.
You can safely run from Darkrai and it will let you come back to the island by going back to the house in Canalave.
Interesting, might have to give this a go since I'm stuck on Darkrai's Island anyway, would certainly save me time.

Yes and no.
No video game has true randomness, they are all faking it in some way.
If you don't know what's happening in the background, it's functionally the same. When you get a shiny normally, you just got lucky and landed on a shiny RNG state by sheer chance.
The seed changes every reset, and potential shiny Pokemon on average appear once every 1/4096 RNG advances. Sometimes more often, sometimes less.

Personally I probably wouldn't want to use it because I like to try and get things without the help of programs or looking up guides. But if there is next to no chance of getting a shiny starter... does that meant I have to be consistent with my button mashing speed to have the 1/4096 chance? Will stopping to do other things inbetween make that chance next to nothing?
@@strawberrymoonphased no the odds are always 1/4096. Every reset you get to encounter 1 Pokemon, and eventually that one Pokemon will line up with the RNG and be shiny. The most important thing is "encounters per hour" if you're regular hunting. Period.
You'll drive yourself crazy if you hunt the normal way and worry "is this a bad seed?" Or something like that.

If you're always 1-2 late, try increasing your A press delay by 1-2

Imma need a Giratina tutorial cuz I’ve been doing the same thing that i did with Darkrai with Giratina and the shiny just won’t show up, I’ve tried at least 12 times lol
is there something that i can do to prevent the reident at darkrai from showing the incorrect frame advances? because quite often it says that its 40k+ while its actual number is below 5k, and after serveral reidents it finally gives me the correct number, but by then it also overshot the frame due to it taking so long per reident at darkrai.

if you're getting false positives, it might be misregistering single\double blinks. Try adjusting your threshold, and watching the command prompt, making sure that if your character single or double blinks, its tracking correctly.

Does anyone know how to adjust the screen size in Player Blink? I’m using a Genki Shadowcast, and The screen is too big for me to see the X Y W H, etc. settings on the right side. I figure if I can make the screen smaller, I can see everything.
Switch settings doesn’t help, and I can’t expand the window far enough to find the axis adjustments either.
What are the main reasons the monitored blinks might fail to deduce the seed? Mine failed 3 times but I never had any issues with Shaymin

Poorly Configured Threshold
Wrong # of NPCs set in config (should be 0 inside Secret Base)
Depending on setup, if you're using a camera glare on screen or screen dimming.
You want to watch the blinks happen, and ensure that all single blinks and double blinks are registering properly.
If it misses ANY blinks at all, it will fail. It needs to be perfectly recording, so watch the command prompt as you're monitoring and make sure that what the program sees, lines up with what you're seeing.
If its not, tweak the threshold or take new eye snips, until it is.
I recommend using the "Raw Screenshot" button in the program, rather than the Snipping Tool now. The Snipping Tool doesn't always match the resolution of the video feed, and so this can cause errors.

I am running the program (on macOS) and for some reason it is capturing the camera from the laptop (which i dont want) and it's not giving me a projection from the windowed OBS projection. Exception: Could not import win32, if you are not on windows Monitor Window must be unchecked, otherwise make sure packages are installed correctly
Uncheck Monitor Window, as it won't work on Mac. You need to use the Camera Index numbers, as done in the "Quick Start Guide" included with the tools.
You'll need to try different "camera" numbers, until you find the correct device. It might also be possible to disable your laptop camera on Mac, if that's causing issues. Although I don't have a Mac myself, so I don't know the exact steps.

@@enio.d4554 there is Mac version of PokeFinder linked in the FAQ. If you're plugged into power you might have better luck with it not freezing.

I have lots of issue with this Project_Xs tool... waiting minutes and minutes to complete the 40 blinks but it always throws assertion errors which are not really human readable. Already tried with cutting my own eye image and deactivating preview before start monitoring. RIP

Thanks for answering, I already did it; I know the tools works cause eventually it worked when I Tried shiny starter hunting in bdsp in november, but everything I tried to fix it now just doesn’t work anymore. My suggestion would be to stop the process if anything bad or unsure is processed instead of doing all the blinks only to explode xD

It does. You need to know your SID and TID though. Yoggerz has a guide on RNG manipulating eggs.
so question, if i was to do this with the webcam method, do I *NEED* to switch config from secret_base to cresselia? cuz I seem to only be able to use config_camera and none of the others work for me
edit: never mind, I came up with a solution. i just made a copy of the camera config and renamed it so I can switch safely
The only difference between the configs is the settings on the right side, and the eye pictures.
So if you're having problems with the other configs it's likely
Box position (XY)
Box size (WH)
Eye picture being too big
The other settings on the right are relevant for the Pokemon that use timeline, so if you're going for something like Arceus for example, copy the settings like Time Delay, Advance Delay, and Pokemon NPCs.

Check the FAQ. If you're having issues when switching between configs, you likely just need to update the XY/WH values to match your working config.
The new reidentify limits only matter if you're going past frame 100,000 otherwise don't worry about them.

Great video! Something weird happened to me: I followed the steps, thought that I did everything ok, I captured and saw that I hit the frame about nature and IVs, but Pokefinder says should be a shiny and it wasn't...anyone could guess what happened? Pokefinder configuration was Mythical-Arceus
Turn off the shiny filter, and search. Chances are you hit a clump of frames with identical IVs.
Happens sometimes, where there's a pack of 3-4 frames with the same stats, but only 1 is shiny. Means you were close and should try again.

Finally after 23-24 tries I got it...I got to say that it's the hardest RNG I tried to replicate from you, crazy to calibrate...other ones from ramanas park only took me 1-2 times calibrating, and 3-4 for hitting the frame, thx for your videos!!

It's definitely safe, I know the people who make each of the programs personally. Virus Scanners will basically flag any homebrew programs as viruses nowadays.

If you've been able to get a seed before, it's either a setting or a bad eye snip.
Make sure that it's not missing any blinks, or miscounting double blinks.
I discovered some of my snips didn't have enough of the upper eyelid area and was causing me problems
I actually do this at night with my crappy Webcam in docked mode with the camera focused on my TV. It almost ALWAYS gets a seed and re-indentifies well
