Speaking of censorship, let us not forget Disney+ covering the bare backside of an in-her-prime Daryl Hannah in Splash. Truly a crime against humanity!
I'm crushed hearing this. I wonder if it's also censored on digital to purchase. Not that I'm a total perv or anything it's just that scene is so very necessary , especially to young lads like me back in the 80's 🤣
Absolutely! Much like TNT's MonsterVision did back in the '90s for my teenage self to see! I'm so thankful to have known Joe Bob Briggs in my highschool years!
Me too. I want to watch what I want, when I want. Not dictated by some asswipes who allow a few random items to "stream" at a certain time. Because what I see is say I purchase Jurassic Park. Okay, so if I don't watch it for 10 years and then want to watch it, will it be availabe to me? I doubt it. So I paid for something, yet I don't have the actual item......I do not like that. It all comes down to money.

Point is, display your media, be proud of it, it is YOUR physical PRIVATE property
I've been a connoisseur of physical media my whole life -- laser discs, Betmax, VHS, DVDs and now, Blu-rays. Once the moral overlords started restricting access content, I became all the more grateful to have my physical copies to enjoy in their entirety. Streaming services are the worst about this, which is why I don't even bother with anything but Shudder.
He leaves out a bit of context on the Clownhouse story. That director's other movies are available, and in fact they still make movies (the Jeepers Creepers series). The reason that particular film is hard to find is because the abuse he was arrested for occurred with one of the actors, during production.
Clownhouse is a case where apparently the family of Victor Salva's victim requested it be pulled out of print, on account of said victim being in the movie.
5:38 And those are the kinds of people who banned films like "Song of the South" and precisely for the reasons Joe Bob Briggs says. What you have left are the copies on video cassette and LaserDisc that are still in circulation.
Some African American Commentators who did not like Song of South said they don;t want to Film Banned. They think the Film should be shown, but we should talk about the Film. I'm for that instead of censoring the Film.
Then watch his current show...its pretty much exactly the same thing. Actually the lack of censorship and commercials make it a little more like Drive In Theater on The Movie Channel in the 80s and early 90s, but even so. He's still doing it.
MonsterVision was my FAVORITE thing during my teenage years! It was on from my freshman to senior years and I still think back to how much I value that I had good Ole Joe Bob on TNT MonsterVision!!!
I think the appeal of VHS is more about nostalgia. You get to see old previews and imperfections in the sound and picture quality. I had a copy of True Lies on VHS that was recorded off of HBO in the 90’s or early 00’s. I can still remember some of the flaws in the tape where the picture or music was distorted. I watched that tape like 100 times.
2025 is the year I start my physical media "home theater" collection. I'm starting with the Chucky movies, up to #7, and Friday the 13th, probably up to the 2009 movie. I also want a few Westerns, starting with Winchester '73, Cheyenne Autumn and Mackenna's Gold. I'm getting my first ever 4k/Blu-ray DVD player, and 4k TV in the next few months. Chucky was my first choice due to Netflix dumping Chucky in November. These streaming services are not reliable in the long-run,, only owning physical media is reliable. Horror is it's own special media and for this very reason of censorship. It makes me love Horror even more! Thank you, Joe Bob Briggs! ☺️🤠
I'm assuming this is from the Hellbound Hellraiser 2 episode? Gotta go rewatch that now. I vaguely remember this and couldn't remember what episode, thank you!
I had to watch this rant again after the recent news broke about Best Buy announcing its discontinuing DVDs and Blu-rays come 2024. I'm a definite supporter of physical media and would hate to see boutique labels like Vinegar Syndrome, Severin, etc. fold due to the shrinking marketplace for stores that sell Blu-rays & DVDs. I miss having multiple options for stores to shop for movies, from Media Play (whose selection crushed Best Buy's, to say nothing of MP's book, video game, CD, and other departments) and Suncoast Motion Picture Co. to Sam Goody's and Coconuts. The 21st century just continues to get worse in terms of people being disconnected from face-to-face life and having actual places to meet. Once Best Buy axes its DVDs and Blu-rays, the only options left for movies on physical media will be Wal-Mart, Target, Barnes & Noble, FYE (what's left of it), regional chains like Bull Moose in northern New England, and the odd independent store. Truly sad. 😭
I still buy Used VHS tapes because so far its the only way to get some of these obscure gems for my collection because they have never been released on DVD. Either that or it's an out of print DVD going for 250 bucks on ebay
Good evening Joe and friends.. That's why I just spent fifty bucks on the UHD Last Waltz film.. While I do continue to purchase films via Google etc; anything that i really love, particularly music related, ends up on DVD, Bluray or 4K Disc. I'm hoping to eventually wean myself off of Digital Streaming Service completely and finally go back to choosing a film off my shelf as the only way for me to view a film. Perhaps it's a good idea to purchase an extra Bluray player while they're still available. Skits such as those we see on Red Letter Media and the VHS repair shop, I'm confident they'll be Bluray repair shops still around, at least till my time is done within the next 20-30years.. 🇨🇦 ✌️ ❤️
I’ve gotta agree with him. I prefer my DVDs to be honest. As much as I love to watch movies on Netflix, Amazon, etc there’s a far better feeling of comfort I get from physical media, knowing that I own it, and that it’s not just going to disappear because Netflix’s contract expired. And on Censorship… He does have a point, but the Internet is such a huge expanse of code and separate entities that whatever you want will available somewhere, whether or not it’s practical, easy to locate or even legal is another matter, but it’s probably somewhere out there. I don’t really have too much of an opinion on Censorship in general anyway. Yes, I know all about Free Speech and whatever, but that doesn’t really apply to the Ratings system or companies refusing to purchase something they don’t want to show. You have a right to say what you want, just be mindful that you don’t have a right to be listened to.
Well said. But I still hang on to a VHS player because some movies never received a DVD release. I treasure my second hand rental VHS copy of Radioactive Dreams that I rescued from a grocery store video rental kiosk that was going out of business. Yes, it’s a rescue.
Now im just a hillbilly southern boy who watched monster vision growing up. But joe bobs severcive program was a great outlet for me and lots of other people.we had to hide and watch growing up. But his ideas still ring true
@@josephmayfield945 um, yes it is. VHS is blaring and dynamic when used properly. that huge thick tape is just like reel tape. @@MontagTheMagician you obviously don’t know how VHS, or any magnetic tape works. Every time it is played, it loses resolution. The tape is worn from friction. my advice would be DO safe those VHS tapes because when a sturdy pre-1990s VCR gets a malfunction after 30 years of usage you can usually MacGyver jerry-rig it to start working again but try building your own microchips or laser-eye for your DVD/Bluray player that with regular use is guaranteed to quit working within 10 years and by that time they stopped fabrication and replacing it will be as difficult as trying to rent Edward Penishands 3 on LaserDisc from a Blockbuster Video Store next to a RadioShack that sells new factory-sealed blank E-240 VHS triple-packs

Man, the clip cuts off while he's still talking. I really want to know what he is saying. Is the full show available on...dare I say...PHYSICAL MEDIA? ;)
I'm a feminist, and I own both a blu ray and the new 4k of I Spit on Your Grave. I also have a VCR player. I do not watch it because I am a hipster; I watch them for 3 reasons: 1. It is the only affordable option (I recently bought a cheap VHS of a movie that is OOP and goes for $50+ on DVD) 2. It is the cut I prefer (I prefer the VHS cut of Conan the Barbarian to the blu ray cut) 3. It is more fun to watch on VHS (the audio on my VHS of Out for Justice is better than the mono audio track on the blu ray and/or I would argue--like vinyl--some films do look good on VHS--in particular, anything shot on VHS or some films intended to look grainy or grimy) That said, yes, I buy physical media because I don't want people telling me what I can watch and streaming services only care about movies they think will make them money (ie they don't actually care about films). That said, if you don't watch Tubi, check them out! They show all kinds of old movies almost no one cares about. Lots of old '70s movies you can't find anywhere else and a bunch of old Full Moon films, for example.
Good video. But I am upset with Siskel and Ebert protesting and telling people not see it. Whether it's The God's Not Dead Films, Passion of the Christ, 2016 Ghostbusters, or 2019 Black Christmas, no Film should be Banned. However I might be a hypocrite on regarding the director of Jeepers Creeps & Clown House. If people want to watch his Film go for, but can't because what the director did. But if i'm being a hypocrite let me know.
why keep VHS tapes? Nostalgia and cost, Joe Bob. Come on, man. Dead on about the cloud. What will happen is independent sites that serve independent media. The government will try to crack down on them.
joe bob may put off a more lower iq personality on some of his shows sometimes, but 9/10 hes the smartest person in the room. hes 100% right on this too

Clownhouse is actually here on TH-cam for free. I didn't know Prime censored the dick scene from Victor Crowley. I have it on blu-ray and that's the only way I've watched it.
Joe Bob - "The Chances of I Spit on Your Grave Deja Vu getting into a mainstream movie theater in 2020 are somewhere between zero and impossible." Me - Well yes, but that's more because of COVID than faceless corporate bureaucrats who work for "the Cloud" All jokes aside LOVE JOE BOB BRIGGS!!!
Deja Vvu Grave is a terrible film. Not bad in a good way, but just bad in a bad way. To the point that I thought it was some sort of money laundering operation.
I love that Joe Bob says " war is going to make the cloud explore" not considering that if a war can destroy something ethereal, probably physical media won't do too well in that scenario
You're right, although one could argue that it's harder to blow up thousands of homes spread across thousands of miles with physical media in them... than it is to blow up one or two buildings filled with servers.
The cloud is a physical structure. They're called servers. Highly doubt belligerents are going to be storming your home to destroy your dvd collection.

VHS is bad quality and that’s a good thing. Alien in HD shows too much of the wire work, etc. for example. Also the vibes on my CRT can’t be beaten.
But VHS is vaporwave.
Death Wish 3 is almost certainly better on vhs than dvd
Can we get his thoughts on white supremacists? Based on his writing in Taki's, he seems to be a superfan
I do not watch it because I am a hipster; I watch them for 3 reasons:
1. It is the only affordable option (I recently bought a cheap VHS of a movie that is OOP and goes for $50+ on DVD)
2. It is the cut I prefer (I prefer the VHS cut of Conan the Barbarian to the blu ray cut)
3. It is more fun to watch on VHS (the audio on my VHS of Out for Justice is better than the mono audio track on the blu ray and/or I would argue--like vinyl--some films do look good on VHS--in particular, anything shot on VHS or some films intended to look grainy or grimy)
That said, yes, I buy physical media because I don't want people telling me what I can watch and streaming services only care about movies they think will make them money (ie they don't actually care about films).
The government will try to crack down on them.
joe bob may put off a more lower iq personality on some of his shows sometimes, but 9/10 hes the smartest person in the room. hes 100% right on this too
With the rise of AI and the actors strikes lately... I seriously hope this guy didn't just inadvertently predict the future. Do better America. Please. Preserve the past wether its good or bad. That way we can learn from it.
That's not right I have put a lot of money in 4k
Clownhouse is actually here on TH-cam for free. I didn't know Prime censored the dick scene from Victor Crowley. I have it on blu-ray and that's the only way I've watched it.
Doctor Wolfula did a review of that film a year ago
Peta presents: cannibal holocaust lol joe bob is a legend
I love Joe Bob so much, but it’s hard seeing him as an old man. :( he’s great.
What a shirt, that is
Joe Bob - "The Chances of I Spit on Your Grave Deja Vu getting into a mainstream movie theater in 2020 are somewhere between zero and impossible."
Me - Well yes, but that's more because of COVID than faceless corporate bureaucrats who work for "the Cloud"
All jokes aside LOVE JOE BOB BRIGGS!!!
@@TooTallTurtle87 the first one of those is "Life." Your rights end where they begin to infringe on someone else's ability to stay alive.
Deja Vvu Grave is a terrible film. Not bad in a good way, but just bad in a bad way. To the point that I thought it was some sort of money laundering operation.
/r/datahoarder
I love that Joe Bob says " war is going to make the cloud explore" not considering that if a war can destroy something ethereal, probably physical media won't do too well in that scenario
You're right, although one could argue that it's harder to blow up thousands of homes spread across thousands of miles with physical media in them... than it is to blow up one or two buildings filled with servers.
The cloud is a physical structure. They're called servers. Highly doubt belligerents are going to be storming your home to destroy your dvd collection.
It started with Spielberg himself chainging his original movies
And George Lucas.
Based and red-pilled.
PC police in cinema news etc
Love they got late stage liberace to host this ..just kidding love joe bob he's the anarchist thoughts that went though Tolstoy's head with a twist of southern culture on the skids.. thanks for taking it on chin good buddy.
Clownhouse rules totally have it and so does Joe bob still gotta see cannibal Holocaust
If you about 80 he old 🤣🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
great...except i really do think Tipper Gore wasn't trying to get rid of explicit music, she just wanted a label on the records to let parents know that there was explicit content inside, and i actually think that's fine.
No she was evil. I lived it. The satanic panic made people act stupid and see satanists in every shadow.
